I binge watched this today - and cried for damn near 5 hours STRAIGHT!! It’s not just a love story - it is about a FAMILY that loves HARD!!! I LOVED IT!
It is many things. Love story between man and woman. Love story between her and her sister and the whole family. And also love story between her and the Italian family.
This show broke me. I went through this with my late partner, who passed away in 2011 after battling cancer for 3 years. We loved each other DEEPLY and his loss was life changing. To this day it's still an impact in my life because i see things so differently from before he died. Zoe really dug deep into her soul for those scenes, it felt like she and I were the same person at some points. Even some of the words spoken were exactly the same. I need to get my hands on this book now. My heart goes out to Tembi, a kindred spirit. I have also wanted to write a book about my love and loss story. I may just do so after this.
It's more than painful to read and watch the scratch. My best support to you Adriana. I am crying since yesterday and my point of view about life has changed so much. I can't wait to write my story too.
One of my favorite things about this series is how it portrayed the love & support of a black family. This is something that is not portrayed in movies or shows enough.

There could not have been a better actress than Zoe Saldaña for this series. Zoe herself is married to an Italian and also speaks Italian. One of the best romance series ever.
I like Zoe but you never see her play with versatile men like Denzel,Micheal B Jordan ,you never see her play as their romantic love interest I mean zendaya,Kerry Washington u see them play roles with versatile men black white ,whomever u never see that with zoe not being racist the only movie I seen her do that was drumline with nick cannon....

It is sad, but it happens. Still, she was magnificent in this role and I hope she gets an Emmy award for it.
I just finished watching this! Zoe & Eugenio, (Amy & Lino) played the HELL out of their roles!! You would have thought they were married in real life. The love, care & compassion they had for one another was truly amazing! GREAT SERIES!!!

I stayed up through the night to watch the entire series. This was such an emotional but beautiful story. Zoe Saldana and Eugenio were the perfect duo to bring the story to life. Oscars for the both of them.

Fighting through it all in the name of LOVE. This is us type show, but a true story. Laughter. Tears. Love. Just beautiful! From cinematography, to the script, to the lighting, acting, everything! BRAVA!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Watched the whole series last week and now seeing this was based off a true story is remarkable. My husband had a hard time finishing it. He was extremely emotional and he just lost his mom a few weeks ago. It really made him think a lot and we gave each other some intense emotional hugs because it really made us reflect and appreciate even more what we have.
Ok, I cried and cried and cried and cried buckets, but what a beautiful love story. It's up there with the movie The Notebook. All I can say is she was truly blessed with a love like theirs. ❤️❤️❤️
One of the most engaging rollercoaster rides of emotions. Makes you want to curse out Lino's dad berfore he reconciled with his son. makes you go "oh Lord" when Amy's mom spoke at the wedding. This show is beyond words.This deserves an emmy!!!

I watched every episode last weekend. I cried every episode after the 4th one. It was the tears of sobbing, nose running, trying to catch your breath. My husband tried to get me to change to something else because I was crying so hard. Watching this made me want to savor every moment of laughter and joy with my husband. I didn't know it was based on a true story. Now I want to cry all over again.
I finally had a chance to watch this with my Italian husband. Such a beautiful love story. This is definitely my favorite series of all time. We cried 5 hours straight and having been a survivor of C myself. It gave us the inspiration to document our beautiful journey together. ❤❤❤❤
Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed this series. I laughed, cried and feel in love with each character of the story. It also made me miss my deceased parents. Those scenes during her husband’s passing made me cry so hard, it made me remember those days my mom and dad died from their illness. This series was filled with richness and deep family love. Joys and triumphs, pains and sufferings. There definitely needs to be a second book to this story of love.
This is the kind of love that we rarely see nowadays. The once in a lifetime kind of love. I was sobbing like no other watching this story. Zoe Saldaña did a wonderful job!

I didn’t read the book, didn’t know the story but I watched the entire 8 episodes in one evening. It was INCREDIBLE! Their love story was incredible. The acting was, by far, the best I’ve seen in years! It’s as though every actor was invested with their own life! I didn’t know the male lead but my gosh, he was phenomenal… the young woman who played the sister. I wanted her to be my sister! But Zoey… I am guessing this would be an Emmy instead of an Oscar but she deserves them both! We cried we laughed and we cried some more! Tembi’s story is one for the ages. Thank you for writing it and thank you to Zoey for brining it to life… and thank you to her sister, for supporting her, pushing her and loving her!

"From Scratch" is the absolute BEST Netflix series, hands down!!!! I watched episode after episode in one day!!! Heartwarming, Love Packed , Heartbreaking, Warm, Inspiring all at once!!
I resonated with parts of this in such deep ways. I cried throughout. This was so real. It’s so amazing to know it actually was! I loved so many parts of this but the big one for me was seeing a black family being rooted in their culture while traveling the world and having adventures. This wasn’t toxic, drama filled or cliche. Just real and beautiful.
"Deeply emotional" is an understatement. This series was beautiful, it took me on a whirlwind of emotions. The family component was beautiful. Their love story was beautiful. The daughter and father story was beautiful. Ms. Tembi thank you for sharing your story.
This series had me in tears! It’s the fact that I’m a cancer nurse, its always so heartbreaking when there is nothing more they can do for your loved one 😢 but both those actors were brilliant!

Tembi and Zoe have very similar mannerisms when they speak … it’s a miracle how perfectly this all came together. What an amazing way to honor her late husband … I’m crying again OMG 😢😢😢 This was truly moving. Zoe ATE THAT UP!!! I have the utmost respect for her as actress after this … And I am so happy & grateful Tembi decided to share this story. Netflix has had a very nice year as far as talent and creativity, especially with these real life stories.
I read the book and it is one of the most beautifully written love stories I have ever read. Tembi's writing style is superb and it evokes every emotion possible. Heading over to Netflix to watch the series!
Just started this series a couple days ago and I love it. No wonder...It's real! I so appreciate this non-traditional, non-stereotypical story they actually lived. I'm sorry he passed away. But I'm glad she had a love she cherishes and they created a beautiful daughter together. Thanks to the sister for pushing her to share. It Is blessing me to dream and encouraging me to be authentic.
I have NEVER cried the way I did when I watched this series. Zoe Saldana and the entire cast and crew did an amazing job, and to think it's actually a true life love story made it even more amazing.

I started watching this with my cousin last night thinking I'm watching this romantic movie and ended up with tissues flying, face soaked with tears and heart so invested in this story like they were my family 😭😭 this was amazing... I didn't even know that this was a true story ... Now I'm tearing up all over again
I watched From Scratch over the course of 3 days. Good Lord! I think I lost 7 pounds of water weight due to the tears I cried!!!!! I literally had to take breaks due to emotional distress! Nevertheless it is a must see. It is an absolutely beautiful love story not only between a man and woman but also their family and community.
This story was so emotionally rich! Yes you will cry, you will laugh but you will think and treasure and think about the goodness of life even when the world seems ugly.
I watched the whole series in one sitting and sobbing the whole time and everytime I think about the movie I cry buckets of tears and watch it over and over I can't stop crying. Tembi thank you for this love story and the complete love you and Saro had. Also Zoe and Eugenio deserve accomplishments and shout-outs for their incredible and moving acting it was something else.

I watched this thinking it was going to be about Zoe going to Italy to learn how to cook and watched the whole series. If I had known it was going to take such a turn, I don't think I could have because my mom just passed away in the same manner a few days ago, and watching the scenes in the hospital was extremely hard and I cried, but I got through it and I have to say,... This was a great series...Everyone Please watch it.
I thought it was just about her learning art. I had to turn it off yesterday when they started talking about Hospice. My mom passed a year ago and all the Hospice talk had the tears coming up. I didn't want to spend my Sunday crying...lol. Beautiful story though.

I've been a care giver for my beautiful mother who I love sooooo much. She is now 88 years of age and I'm just as grateful for her now as I was before. She was diagnosed with my Alzhimers back in 2014. The experience has been so emotional and this movie reminded so much about the " Fight" you have inside you no matter bow much of a losing battle it may seem. I saw this Tamron video earlier this morning...I stopped mid-video to watch the series. It is almost midnight and I came back to my laptop and this video is still up unfinished. I cried, I laughed and was emotionally invested and inspired. Casting superb. Zoe Saldana was stellar. Now, that I see Tembe and her sister, I see why. BRAVO!!
Authentic Sicilian language and characters depicted in modern movie roles are almost non-existent. I have not heard this beautiful language of my father spoken so authentically. The acting was superb - from the 2 leads, the sister was outstanding, and most of the supporting actors were very solid.
So emotionally raw, the tears never stopped flowing. They captured the essence of real life that people goes through daily, so inspirational and yet sad.
I saw this series a week ago on the anniversary of my friend who passed 7 year’s ago from breast cancer. She was a very close friend from Uk who met an Italian man on her travel’s. She learned to speak Italian they had 1 daughter. Unfortunately 5 years later her cancer returned. My friend came home to be with her family and friends. I didn’t realise I haven’t grieved her fully, I wet a lot & found the story of strength & love so moving. Thank you for sharing it. Muna Uk 🙏🏽💜🦋
This is a wonderful love story. I watched it 3x already. I cried, laughed, cried again, rooted for them and their love. This was THE BEST “ACTING” that I’ve seen by Zoe Saldana. I always thought that her acting skills weren’t challenged enough. Zoe you have arrived!! The cast and the acting on ALL levels was TOP NOTCH. It was great seeing a cast old and new faces meld together to make one excellent movie. This is a keeper, one to watch every year. Did I mention the writing & directing? There are so many good things about this movie, you just MUST watch it again and again! Kudos to all for a much needed movie about love, family, hope, perseverance, life, growth and reemergence. Beautiful showcase of love, family and coping with grief. Marvelous. Truly had me in tears. And so many wonderful intimate moments between Amy and Lino… and other members of the family too. This show deserves some recognition!

Finding out that this series was based on true events... oh my! This was a beautiful, beautiful, love story but sad at the same time. I loved Lino & Amy, and the last 2 episodes had me crying bucketloads! The support that Amy had from her family was truly heartwarming. And like Tembi said, that support is very important for caregivers. My mum was a caregiver for my dad, as he battled MM. It was really tough, especially the final 3 years of his life. She gave her all, and she didn't have much support. After he passed, she was diagnosed with anxiety & depression and had to be put on antidepressants and therapy. Its been a tough 4 years, but she is slowly getting better.
The tears I shared watching this came from the gut, they did so well with this. You can feel it if you’ve ever lost a loved one, you can fill it as a wife and mom, daughter - ugh. Thank you for sharing your love with us.🙏🏽💙

I've watched it twice this weekend. It is a story of love, family,unity and community that I have never seen or experienced. I have no sisters and my only brother is very distant to the point of that I'm unable to communicate with him. I was fascinated with the level of love, it was portrayed so beautifully. Even the death was sad, but yet lovingly done.
This really was an incredible journey she went through and bravely shared, and the series.....wow. The respect, the tenderness and the tribute was incredibly beautiful. The actors treated their roles with so much respect and decency, and I felt like I was taken through so many emotions. What an incredible love. Incredible woman.

I just randomly clicked on this series on Netflix, and I was wrecked! The series is absolutely exquisite. I cried and sobbed from beginning to end. Bravo. Thank you for sharing your love story.
I watched every episode last weekend. I cried every episode after the 4th one. It was the tears of sobbing, nose running, trying to catch your breath. My husband tried to get me to change to something else because I was crying so hard. Watching this made me want to savor every moment of laughter and joy with my husband. I didn't know it was based on a true story. Now I want to cry all over again.

I finally had a chance to watch this with my Italian husband. Such a beautiful love story. This is definitely my favorite series of all time. We cried 5 hours straight and having been a survivor of C myself. It gave us the inspiration to document our beautiful journey together. ❤❤❤❤
Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed this series. I laughed, cried and feel in love with each character of the story. It also made me miss my deceased parents. Those scenes during her husband’s passing made me cry so hard, it made me remember those days my mom and dad died from their illness. This series was filled with richness and deep family love. Joys and triumphs, pains and sufferings. There definitely needs to be a second book to this story of love.
This is the kind of love that we rarely see nowadays. The once in a lifetime kind of love. I was sobbing like no other watching this story. Zoe Saldaña did a wonderful job!
I loved when she said her sister was holding a vision of her life that was bigger than what she could see at the moment 💗❤💗❤💗...Oh my goodness, that's what a sister is supposed to be. The best I've ever seen; I don't think there will be another to beat this for a long, long time. Beautiful and Amazing ❤❤❤
I didn’t read the book, didn’t know the story but I watched the entire 8 episodes in one evening.
It was INCREDIBLE! Their love story was incredible. The acting was, by far, the best I’ve seen in years! It’s as though every actor was invested with their own life! I didn’t know the male lead but my gosh, he was phenomenal… the young woman who played the sister. I wanted her to be my sister! But Zoey… I am guessing this would be an Emmy instead of an Oscar but she deserves them both! We cried we laughed and we cried some more!
Tembi’s story is one for the ages.

"From Scratch" is the absolute BEST Netflix series, hands down!!!! I watched episode after episode in one day!!! Heartwarming, Love Packed , Heartbreaking, Warm, Inspiring all at once!!
I resonated with parts of this in such deep ways. I cried throughout. This was so real. It’s so amazing to know it actually was! I loved so many parts of this but the big one for me was seeing a black family being rooted in their culture while traveling the world and having adventures. This wasn’t toxic, drama filled or cliche. Just real and beautiful.
I’d be lying if I say I didn’t cry like baby watching this serie.

This series had me in tears! It’s the fact that I’m a cancer nurse, its always so heartbreaking when there is nothing more they can do for your loved one 😢 but both those actors were brilliant!
My husband and I both watched it together! We both were crying at the end! What a beautiful story of love, and family ❤ Everyone did a superb job playing their parts.

Tembi and Zoe have very similar mannerisms when they speak … it’s a miracle how perfectly this all came together. What an amazing way to honor her late husband … I’m crying again OMG 😢😢😢 This was truly moving. Zoe ATE THAT UP!!! I have the utmost respect for her as actress after this … And I am so happy & grateful Tembi decided to share this story. Netflix has had a very nice year as far as talent and creativity, especially with these real life stories.

Just started this series a couple days ago and I love it. No wonder...It's real! I so appreciate this non-traditional, non-stereotypical story they actually lived. I'm sorry he passed away. But I'm glad she had a love she cherishes and they created a beautiful daughter together. Thanks to the sister for pushing her to share. It Is blessing me to dream and encouraging me to be authentic.

Zoe Saldana and the entire cast and crew did an amazing job, and to think it's actually a true life love story made it even more amazing.
I binged the series on Friday night until 3 am Saturday morning. I laughed, cried, held my breath, and thought about my own family. I loved this movie so much! Thank you for sharing your sweet love story. Faith, hope and love. The greatest of all these is love!

I watched From Scratch over the course of 3 days. Good Lord! I think I lost 7 pounds of water weight due to the tears I cried!!!!! I literally had to take breaks due to emotional distress! Nevertheless it is a must see. It is an absolutely beautiful love story not only between a man and woman but also their family and community.

I watched the whole series in one sitting and sobbing the whole time and everytime I think about the movie I cry buckets of tears and watch it over and over I can't stop crying. Tembi thank you for this love story and the complete love you and Saro had. Also Zoe and Eugenio deserve accomplishments and shout-outs for their incredible and moving acting it was something else.

I watched this thinking it was going to be about Zoe going to Italy to learn how to cook and watched the whole series. If I had known it was going to take such a turn, I don't think I could have because my mom just passed away in the same manner a few days ago, and watching the scenes in the hospital was extremely hard and I cried, but I got through it and I have to say,... This was a great series...Everyone Please watch it.
I knew once Zoe was in it, it would have a twist. No way was a actress of Zoe’s caliber going to star in a Hallmarkest movie/series on Netflix .
I thought it was just about her learning art. I had to turn it off yesterday when they started talking about Hospice. My mom passed a year ago and all the Hospice talk had the tears coming up. I didn't want to spend my Sunday crying...lol. Beautiful story though.

I've been a care giver for my beautiful mother who I love sooooo much. She is now 88 years of age and I'm just as grateful for her now as I was before. She was diagnosed with my Alzhimers back in 2014. The experience has been so emotional and this movie reminded so much about the " Fight" you have inside you no matter bow much of a losing battle it may seem. Authentic Sicilian language and characters depicted in modern movie roles are almost non-existent. I have not heard this beautiful language of my father spoken so authentically. The acting was superb - from the 2 leads, the sister was outstanding, and most of the supporting actors were very solid.

I saw this series a week ago on the anniversary of my friend who passed 7 year’s ago from breast cancer. She was a very close friend from Uk who met an Italian man on her travel’s. She learned to speak Italian they had 1 daughter. Unfortunately 5 years later her cancer returned.
My friend came home to be with her family and friends.
I didn’t realise I haven’t grieved her fully, I wet a lot & found the story of strength & love so moving.

This is a wonderful love story. I watched it 3x already. I cried, laughed, cried again, rooted for them and their love. This was THE BEST “ACTING” that I’ve seen by Zoe Saldana. I always thought that her acting skills weren’t challenged enough. Zoe you have arrived!! The cast and the acting on ALL levels was TOP NOTCH. It was great seeing a cast old and new faces meld together to make one excellent movie. This is a keeper, one to watch every year. Did I mention the writing & directing? There are so many good things about this movie, you just MUST watch it again and again! Kudos to all for a much needed movie about love, family, hope, perseverance, life, growth and reemergence. I completed watching this movie just now. It literally brought me to tears.
Finding out that this series was based on true events... oh my! This was a beautiful, beautiful, love story but sad at the same time. I loved Lino & Amy, and the last 2 episodes had me crying bucketloads! The support that Amy had from her family was truly heartwarming. And like Tembi said, that support is very important for caregivers. My mum was a caregiver for my dad, as he battled MM. It was really tough, especially the final 3 years of his life. She gave her all, and she didn't have much support. After he passed, she was diagnosed with anxiety & depression and had to be put on antidepressants and therapy. Its been a tough 4 years, but she is slowly getting better.
This type of love is something only a few get to experience.

I've watched it twice this weekend. It is a story of love, family,unity and community that I have never seen or experienced. I have no sisters and my only brother is very distant to the point of that I'm unable to communicate with him. I was fascinated with the level of love, it was portrayed so beautifully. Even the death was sad, but yet lovingly done.
