  • Small but potent with a neck-through construction in mahogany and Cort Powersound super distortions - NOT DiMarzios as I first thought! ALL of these were Korean made in the Cor-Tek factory in Seoul. Neck-thru bargains with great pickups. Get one fired up today.

      Hahahahahaha, hi David :-) There's still a few around but because they're showing their age you need to make sure you haven't picked up a pup. They were originally sold as travel guitars but you can gig with these all night long. Cheers, Gary :-)

    I had an Austin Hatchet. The headstock was slightly different, and you're not wrong about the neck dive. It was a proper Punk rock , swinging Ska beat, rip em up guitar and my first electric guitar. I have had many more since. Thanks for reminding me.

    Hi Gary, what a fantastic little instrument. I can't say I was blown away by the clean sounds, but when you were playing the demo tune I thought it really sang. We often think of the Kay brand as a cheap guitar but I put £109 into an online inflation calculator and if it's accurate then spending £109 in 1981 would be about the same as spending £425 today. Back in 1981 I was earing about £60 a week so one of these would be close to a fortnight's wages.

      Hi Rod :-) I'm loving the inflation calculation! I should've played the clean demo with a plectrum (the one that was in my hand when I was using my finger - doh). I think I had an Aria Pro 2 in 1981 which was an epic guitar but I was blown away by the quality of this one. Lovely construction and you can't go wrong with DiMarzios. Cheers, Gary :-)

    Hi Gary, This an interesting find you have this week.
    Both your playing and the Sound that the Guitar makes is Great.
    These instruments are Generally for Guitarist's that carry them Around with themselves in Rucksacks or played by Guitarist's that are disabled and can't hold a Normal Sized Guitar.
    I have 2 Similar Gutars myself. A Hush Silent 🎸 Guitar and a Alp three Pick-ups Model.
    You can Play them Standing up or they Unfold so that you can play them in Bed!
    Not What is Known as a Convensual Normal Guitar. But for Players who are Disabled or People who like to Busk about with Them.
    Either way Gary another More Interesting Guitar this Week, Mate.
    Kindest Rgds Mick. Keep on Rocking Gary.🙏

      Hi Mick and thanks :-) You're quite right about them being travel guitars and I think that's what they were originally marketed as. Brilliant build quality and the pickups are epic. Thanks for the info about the other guitars, I'll keep an eye out for those! Cheers, Gary :-)

    Nice little rifle shaped novelty guitar, but one that has real playability and a great sounding set of Dimarzios. Have you ever had one of those wacky looking Epiphone Airscreamers from the early 2000s that looked like an Airstream caravan ? They were fitted with EMGs !!

    • @FoxysGuitarShow
      @FoxysGuitarShow  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi Chris :-) I'd made an error due to some clever marketing. The sticker says Fitted With Powersound Super Distortions. The worst Powersound has mostly faded away. These were made by Cort and frequently fitted to Ibanez guitars and they're superb picks Designed by DiMarzio, not made by them. Usually you'll see ads saying MIj + DiMarzios - both of these statements are wrong. They were all made in the Cort Tek factory in Seoul, South Korea. Cheers, Gary :-)

      @FoxysGuitarShow That's some interesting info Gary. I like Cort/Cor-teks level of quality luthiery, even when mass producing for other brands. I've a 2015 Squier Vintage Modified Strat in aged white with Duncan designed pups that was made by Cor-tek and I'd say it's better built than the Fender Mex standards from that era. BTW, if you're now post procedure 🤕, I hope it all went well for you !

      Hahahahahaha, hi Bill :-) Hmm, maybe I should've rubbed a bit of the old Blue Spinach on the headstock! I thought it best to wait until this time of year before I had my ears lowered - you might see it grow overnight as I may have to resort to using a few I'd kept for special occasions in the coming weeks. More news on that one soon. Cheers, Gary :-)
