As a former auto body tech that has worked at multiple repair shops I can honestly say that people should STAY AWAY from this ripoff company.
Mythbusters proved that dimpled body panels get better gas mileage. Replace the glass and run it! 😂
Look at the new WRX. The plastic wheel well cladding has little dimples in it for better aerodynamics
Just so the public understands: To be " acredited" with the BBB requires a $500 payment Annually. Fail to pay, lose your " acreditation"
And that was back in 2010, probably more now.
Pro tip: If your car isn’t badly damaged, wait out the repairs. We took it to Caliber Collision, got an estimate of $4k. Then finally fixed it in December for $1800
what do you mean wait out? wait for a better price? cheaper isnt always better
@@thepotatoofheaven its cheaper because they don’t have any work during off season.
Pro tip , go to a pdr guy and he will do it for half the cost 😂
@@cormaro1376 depends on the season. I contacted multiple PDR guys 2 weeks after the hail, and they all quoted me $4-5k. Then around dec-Jan, they dropped the price to $2k
@@cormaro1376agreed. Learned that the hard way. When mass hail storms strike, you call up your insurance company immediately because you know everyone else in town needs their car fixed too. But because of this, they do mass assessments, schedule a time weeks out, typically at collision center, give you an estimate approval, tell you that you can take it anywhere, and THEN you start calling around. But by then, it’s too late. The closest 20 companies put you on their wait list, and it’s 3 months out.
Last year, we got hit after driving out to dinner on a beautiful day. Very next morning, I drive to a paintless dent repair guy for an estimate. I told him to put me on the list. Because I did not wait for insurance, the wait was only 2 weeks. A few days before he was ready for me, the insurance company finally had me come in for a mass assessment. I can only imagine what the wait would’ve been like then after.
Guy keeps it for a day, then let’s me take it home. He says he needs insurance to approve something else. He then tells me that this is pretty normal for hail, and typically collision centers will just park your car for a week or two until they can get that approval! A week goes by, and we bring the car back. He keeps it for two days, and then it’s done. So less than two weeks, or three days, if you consider the fact that I got to keep my car during the waiting process!
At Caliber Collisions, I had to wait 3 months, because all their chains had wait lists that long. I had to drive an hour to and and hour from since that was the location that was ready for me. They kept the car for several months, and there was constant miscommunication on the car being ready, which meant multiple trips hoping to get the car back. And at the end of the day, I had to bring it to another Caliber location because modern cars require special computer tools to let the car know that thing you unplugged was plugged back in. I actually asked the paintless dent repair guy this, because I was worried, and he said he had experience with this type of situation, and actually does his best to NOT unplug anything, if he can avoid it.
You have the right to reject repair.
I throw down weighted plywood on my truck when hail starts hitting, has saved me 1000s
Makes a lot of sense
I have pallets
I would have too but they didn't predict hail with that stirm
Maybe if you have a truck and plan on having it outside any time during the spring. Our last hail storm that got our car (so no bed) we were dropping off a rental. It was a nice day, and we wanted to drop it off so when they opened in the morning we wouldn’t get charged for another day. Since it was still nice out, we decided to eat dinner at a local restaurant. That’s when things got super dark, and hail as big as my shoe started falling!!! Miraculously neither our car, nor the rental was totaled, but we were stuck with both claims. Went home, and there was still hail in the yard the size of my fist even an hour later! Can’t predict stuff like that. Front didn’t even come the normal direction.
@@UmmYeahOk yes we had hail out here but nothing close to severe, we have trees to fear coming down on everything, at separate times they came down on our cars my rental at the time cost me $5000 out of pocket and a young fawn smash the headlight, fender and hood from jumping ontop not having the brains yet to walk around it and then the wild turkeys and bears t-bone my own jeep because it's just a patriot causing damage which insurance coverage took care of that life is not over until it's over stay alive and try to survive out there
Unless the stuff in your garage is worth more than your vehicle move it! Lawnmower verses suv. Duh!
Right in Midwest so many people park outside their own 1 or 2 car garage. My cars live in there when at home even for 5 minutes all the time. Cannot believe the stuff people prioritize the garage too.
I just took the insurance money and kept driving my truck after baseball sized hail damaged it. I don't mind a dented vehicle that the insurance company paid off for me. Bright and shiny is a phantom desire anyhow.
Yeah living in TX with all the hail, and wild animals we can hit, cosmetics is whatever.
@@TexasVexeswhat? It’s not that bad at all lol
Thats called insurance fraud. And you probably shouldn't brag about it. And then also your rates would go up accordingly
@@macbook802 I've had the insurance company tell me they can write me a check for it and it was my choice if I decided to repair it or not.
@@macbook802not necessarily. You can take a check from some insurance companies and they’ll let you deal with getting your vehicle repaired. Insurance typically (in my experience) has worked with us but there’s the few odd times where the customer has insurance do a damage estimate & collect a check to take it to another shop and pocket the rest of the money or pay the vehicle off.
Given the thousands and thousands of cars that were damaged we were told back in September it would be months for any repairs - there was simply no stock for all the cars damaged ... we had two cars totaled and our truck still had the dents from the hail...there were no rentals available either because their cars were all damaged too
Sounds like that company needs to be investigated, by the irs and other companies
I have seen a recent backorder on parts of over 4 months, so this I can see this happening easily.
People know vehicles can still drive just fine with cosmetic damage right?
Nobody wants a hail-dimpled car though
I figured insurance issues to approved cost repairs and collect money.
Happens all the time.
Insurance always wants to pay out little as possible
Same scenario for us
so what's the point of people having garages if u don't use them to store ur vehicles. reporter never asked that question???
To tall or long possibly
They probably have a bunch of junk in their garage but keep $70k worth of trucks outside. Genius
What's the difference in the mileage?
I have seen those trucks for sale for a 2014 like that is for like 15k to 19k and they are already over that price the insurance is paying.
Now time to have it inspected and get insurance to pay the difference in the value of the truck. Make them total it out
being last in line sucks
I live in an area where we don't get any large hail(AZ desert). We, unfortunately, have to deal with summertime sun toasting paint off of cars inside of 3-4 years though. I garage all my nice rigs(3 of them).
Always something.......!!
Poor guys
You have the vet these shops. I am a paintless dent repair technician and I hear the stories all the time from new clients there's no way they should keep your vehicle that long 30 days is the most that we will keep a vehicle and that's pushing it. And of course if the insurance company is not being too crazy. But sometimes insurance companies have to deal with this on the back end with these shops taking advantage of them. And then it make it harder for all the other reputable companies
The fact is that some shops take advantage of situations like this. I feel like some are so dishonest
The people running the body shop needs to be jailed.
The only time people write on the BBB is to write bad stuff 😂
This is one of my reasons to buy used cars, and only pay for liability insurance.
Just so people know, some parts are still on backorder, some weeks some months. And also most people think as if they are the only person getting their car fixed, i know i work in a bidy shop
Took us 6 months to get our truck back also
That’s crazy. I’ve driven past that business so many times. They have a really nice Lamborghini that they park outside sometimes. It’s usually never busy either so I wonder what made them take so long to get it fixed. Very suspicious for sure.
Our neighbor's just got their car back too we got two cars totaled and damage to a truck
How did that not total the truck?
Because Chevy. Like a Rock lol
Why was the auto insurer left nameless in this report?
Why does it matter is it really any of your business.
It shows it and they mention the name of the company several time in the video…. Hailspecialist…. Use your eyes and ears
@@Tearflavoredcereal Yeah we learned the name of the body shop but they never identified the slow-paying insurance company which is a huge part of the story. I wish you all the best in your struggle with reading comprehension.
Tip: always have the insurance co. cut the check to you, and put it in your bank account immediately. Because you have the money, you are in the driver’s seat. Then you are not trying to get insurance to be your advocate “when they can get to it”, you get to be your own advocate. And if the repair is not done right, you have the leverage to make them do it right.
Over 20k to repair hail damage on a chevy. The truck is not even worth that much on trade in or resale...
Whats the purpose of insurance then????
New parts are not repaired parts. The parts are mostly ready for paint and assembly.. all this was as a padding price scam.. 😊
If you aren't in this industry then you wont understand why it takes this long. These arent legos. It takes time and its not easy. If there isnt any body panels to order then you have to wait for the panels. Newer the vehicle the longer the wait sometimes. Then you have to take into consideration of the hours and hours of labor its not a quick process.
That’s not to bad in todays world. I waited 16 months to get mine fixed.
6 months for my wife’s pathfinder to get a new sub-frame …..
Yea bs these guys quote the repairs, which tells me they underquoted it on purpose, then ran into the red on repair costs.
thick moving blankets, with cardboard on top of them and a car cover
My mother waited 5 months…..
Maybe use the garage to park cars?
Frauds
There still is a dent in the front of the hood
Never do business with a company that has an llc
Right
Why is that?
That was a ripped off. That just needed some PDR paint less dent removal.
The owner of the company doesn't have kids
Try parking in your garage
You’re not going to buff before reassembling 😂
Not to mention send it to paint before the new hood arrives at the shop.
Yeah the owner should be fined for every single day the truck wasn't ready wasn't ready in sent to prison for at least 6 months
Crazy 🤪
I thought that hail was an act of Mother Nature and acts of Mother Nature are not generally covered.
Buy junkers to drive.
Absolutely
JUST DONT GO THERE ANYMORE
Looking for crooked companies look at SDR towing in hutchins Texas
Call the better business beaureu
Cause that’s going to do much 😂
I think game warden needs cat houze he didnt care about anything but writing tickets someone made him get out of his Recliner........
Thanks to the Ojeda's, my insurance went up this May 2024
Soundz like texass
Cry me a river
