You missed the main point of the Fleigl : Bales can be carried on any flat trailer, but need to be strapped down. This takes time, and is dangerous. When straps are manually released by the driver the bales can fall on them causing serious injury or fatality. The retractable sides of this trailer avoid the need for strapping and can be released from a safe distance. Speed and safety are what justify the extra cost and complexity of this trailer.
if you mean the pickup truck carrier/hauler, I've seen two of them deliver tractors to my work place. The one owner I spoke to about it loved it since he was getting paid to deliver two large trucks instead of one at a time.
