  • This is part 1 of my 100% playthrough of Metroid Prime Hunters for the DS. This is not an emulator. This footage was captured directly from my New 3DS XL using the aftermarket capture kit manufactured by Katsukity and installed/sold by Merki.
I decided to record a new playthrough of this game to get rid of the annoying stuttering issue from before. This new footage should also be sharper.
As I recall, I received Metroid Prime Hunters shortly after graduating college in 2006. I either received Hunters as a graduation gift or simply purchased the game myself. This was only a few months after the game's release date.
A demo of Metroid Prime Hunters called First Hunt was included with the release of the original DS in 2004 (which I played), but it took a while for NST to develop the full game. When the full game was finally released in 2006 it was mostly a multiplayer game meant to show off the Nintendo's new online Wi-Fi Connection.
Although Hunters included a single-player adventure mode, it was mostly an afterthought to the excellent multiplayer mode. Surprisingly, I didn't get wireless internet until 2007, so I didn't really get to experience Hunters' online multiplayer for quite a while. Instead, I spent some of summer 2006 playing through the single-player Adventure Mode, which was decent, but simplistic. Nintendo Power had already given me a free Player's Guide for the game, so I was able to complete Hunters fairly easily.
Hunters' single-player adventure doesn't really hold a candle to Metroid Prime 1-3, but I still find it enjoyable, especially since the game makes use of touch screen aiming, which I prefer over atrocious dual analog controls. There aren't many power-ups to collect aside from missile and ammo expansions, but the boss fights are enjoyable and the environments aren't too bad.
Like with my other Metroid playthroughs, I'll be keeping track of the items and scans that I acquire in each video. However, I'm only keeping track of items and scans that count toward 100% completion.
In this first part I started a new save file and completed the Celestial Archives.
