Bang! Right on the money. Gas passage was partially carboned up. As you mentioned, the yellow plastic director was a bit dirty but the metal passage into the cylinder was severely restricted. Thanks for such a clear and concise video. I have a new working tool now. 👌
Spot on , didn't look dirty but gave a clean and bang you were on the money ...thanks..off to work I go again..
I had a problem with my nailer not firing. I don't use it very often, but it's super handy for small framing projects. I cleaned it, installed a new spark plug, etc. Nothing worked. The fan would turn on when pressed on the work piece, but wouldn't fire. It was like that for a year and I would periodically try to fire it up and see if it miraculously would start to work. I was about to send it in for service, or spend $400 on a new one. Then it came to me to change the gas cartridge from the two that I had been trying which were still full. I put in a new one and voila, firing every time. Turns out that the gas cartridges were expired, maybe 4 or 5 years old. The gun has been working fine ever since. Moral of the story: check the expiration date on the gas cartridges, they go bad.
My recent experience was 2 brand new cartridges with expiration dates still a year and a half out were completely empty. Frankly, I was a bit busy at the time so I just grabbed the old standby pneumatics and kept going. Paslodes manual actually told me exactly what to do. Which was to press the nozzle against a hard surface to check the gas. No phttt with the smell of gas. It is very nice to have clean guns yet again I will say. Thanks for the video. It inspired me to dig deeper once I saw how foolishly simple these thing are.
Hey thanks for the tip I desperately needed. I’m starting to find these guns exceptionally annoying
Especially the short cells, have 3 of the older solid state model guns and the larger cells would last the entire job.
Thanks very much for going to the trouble to produce this video great clear presentation
Working a treat now. Tried everything else but that one fixed it. Thanks.
Excellent video! Will definitely try this method. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
Big thanks dude! Fixed my gun with this video and its running like a new one.
Thanks Andy spot on with the clean and removal of the back and even though it looked clean but it worked thanks for your video
Paslode makes a aerosol cleaner for that purpose, having used and own many of these nailers keep them clean is the one thing many guys don't do religiously. Drywall dust is the biggest enemy of these guns.
just fixed mine by manually pushing the gas harder into the gas passage. The mechanism that pushes it is worn out or something and not pushing it far enough. I could smell fuel but it was not reaching the combustion area.
Thanks for the tip. Sometimes it's not easy to see if you have a nail jam because the symptoms are the same, the gun won't fire and the fan will come on. Ditto if the fuel cartridge has expired.
I have the same nail gun it is not working. I love this nail gun so it’s frustrating. Going to try your method. Where are you located for repairs?
I’v e had a paslode straight nailgun since 2000 never cleaned it shot over 20,000 nails easily and still kicking til this day. upgraded to an angled after two years here i am on how to fix it😡
Very helpful, thank you !
How do you fix when the gun doesn’t reload the next Brad, you have to push the loader after every shot?
I tookk everything apart only to discover the gas was outdated. Bought new fuel and off in running - at least the filter is clean.
Can anyone tell me why passlodea don’t shoot the last 3-5 nails?? I’ve been wasting a lot of nails this way.
the reason is they don't want you to dry fire the gun because you would cause lots of damage to the piston and the firing ram. you are should still be able to slide a new nail clip while keeping the 3 left over nails inside the clip
@@diyhandyandy9999 That makes sense. yea I wasn’t able to one on one passlode but on others that works no problem
Nothing you did would affect the fan operation, why didn't`t you try to operate the nailer on camera after the "tuneup"?
I never had any issues with the fan, the fan would start up as like normal the issue I had was just with the fuel passage was blocked
@@diyhandyandy9999 mine shoots a nail once every 10 times. The fan works and the gas isnt expired. Do you know what problem it sounds like im having?
The dude who was about to get rid of this gun is an idiot. They send you full schematics with those guns and explain how to fix anything on it and most common problems. Guns are so easily fixable everytime, Had one for 10 years now
Amazed you didn't show the gun firing and fixing two pieces of timber together. How the hell would anybody know it was FIXED.
ALL Paslodes quit working in short order, service frequency WAY to quick .Experienced with both framing and finishing I just purchased another new finishing nailer and sure enough, after about 500 nails later, no fire, not dealing with them anymore for the $$$ big mistake ..headache
Most of the time the gun is just turned around, made me giddy 🤬
My gun will not fire
U went through that whole exercise without firing the gun.
Sorry, next time I will give everyone a test shot
I HATE THIS GUN. IT'S LIKE OUR CATS, THEY PLAY WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE IT!!! HAVE TWO, THE FRAMER AND THE FINISH , BOTH JUNK.
OH YEAH, DID I MENTION I HATE THEM!!!!!
Something is definitely wrong, I have a 16g Paslode nailer that is over 20 years old and works fine.
I'll take them off your hands! 😉
I’ve got three Paslodes, and none of them are working. I know that may say more about me than the guns, but nevertheless, these can be very frustrating to own. When they do work though, they are very good to work with.
Fluff and useless talk until 2:00 please youtubers just get to the content.
Hmm so you didn't show us the gun not firing, didnt show you cleaning it, which i doubt happened as that gun doesn't even look used & looks like its just come oit of the box & to top it off didnt show the gun working either.
