I was a huge fan of this rye. The moment it hits your lips you know it’s special. You can take your time with this rye and every sip pick out something else. This and Russell’s 15 so far are my favorites of the year!

We loved this pour. So complex, and we didn’t get nearly as strong herbal notes as you seemed to get. Thought this was exceptional

I’ve only had 3 pours of mine and I’m in love with it. Great review as always

Loved your take on this! It's getting better each visit. Blind against the new Masters Keep and the HH Grain to Glass Rye! I have my opinions - would love yours

Dipping my toes into rye lately….I picked this up on a whim at SRP and told myself “well let’s see what a well-aged rye CAN be”. I’m a huge fan of this bottle. The nose is still hard for me to dig through, but the palate and finish are sugary sweet. I’m interested in Overholt stuff but can’t find it in my area.

Great review. My wife and I really like this one. We’ve had a couple pours from it and get something different each time. I can see it may not be for everyone maybe because of the complexity. Cheers

This is the exact type of whiskey that sounds like I will find intriguing. To paraphrase the movie “Swingers,” it’s not a PG whiskey. It’s a PG-13 whiskey that I’m not sure I like yet. Ironically, those are the whiskies that I drain the fastest.
It might take half a bottle before I discover that I hate it. But that’s kind of cool in this little hobby of ours.

Nice review! I really enjoy this sweet oak, citrus, spices, tobacco, candied salty peanut, creamy vanilla caramel! It’s a really nice rye bomb! It gets better as you sip it and after a few weeks opened. I also enjoy the chapter 7 quite a bit:) Cheers!

Thorough review.. this channel is gonna grow. This whiskey will win some awards because of the way it will stand up to others in a blind. But i agree, it’s part of a niche you have to enjoy.

I was not much of a LB fan (never had ch 3) until chapters 7 & 8, I have enjoyed both of those

Chapter 3 is a Top 10 whiskey for me. Definitely seek it out

This is a great pour. Ive noticed a lot of younger reviewers shy away from certain profiles, and gravitate towards a simple, sweeter refined spirit. Or ones with finishes or multiple barreling.

Cam, what do you mean by "soapy"? I was considering this bottle but not sure about that.

Drinking ch. 8 while watching this video. Couldn’t agree more! I’m personally not a fan of Willett, but it does have similarities. Feeling conflicted for sure, but seems to be getting better as I continue to sip on it. Very interesting all around, all over the place

I agree with the funky willet profile. But thats what I like about it, and it adds that caramel sweetness for balance. Different, but a good pour.

Two main comments, each revisit is unique and evolving. ....and the high aged ryes do make it into the mix in a vg way.

For me, that herbal or vegetal note goes away on the second sip. The oak really starts coming thru as it opens up. It is a wild ride. I’m here for it.

Not necessarily “worth” the price of admission, but I love this one! I am a massive fan of herbal rye especially when it’s well aged/blended. For me the sits somewhere in between a really good JDSBBS rye and a well aged and blended 95/5 like Redemption 10yr. Also a nerd for complexity fwiw. Cheers!

It reminds me of Michter's Toasted Rye. I like it a lot but that price is definitely a tough proposition. The whiskey market the past few years has made me way too comfortable spending $150+ on a bottle I remember not long ago I wouldn't go over $100 unless it was a killer bottle now I'm more than willing to drop way more than that on such a wide range of bottles. It's all so stupid haha

I agree with your finding on Book 8. I have this one. However just tried Heavens Door 10 year Rye. Not as good as TH BTAC, but good, especially for 50.00 price point

I can’t believe you didn’t enjoy this LB8 as much as I did. How dare you call yourself a professional reviewer. You just straight up made up the soapy note. That doesn’t exist in whiskeys. The worst part of this one is the proof. This one is way too high for me so I never bought it.

Wait your trying to pick apart his review but you've never tried it? 😂. That's bad faith critique. I don't enjoy the plethora of flavors and smells he throws out but hey he's at least drinking it.
