The fact that they never recycled the showcase mode cutscenes for universe mode is crazy. They're motion captured so any character can do them. If you think it's too hard to have them in random matches, bring back promos. Now you have a reason to watch them bc you never know what classic WWE moment is getting added to your rivalry. Hell, do like WWE 12 and give people a reason to challenge certain stars. Maybe a match with Stone Cold unlocks the DX bus explosion cutscene or any Austin-Rock scene. Imagine following the Rumble winner in the last month before Mania. The feud with the champ is all stuff from the X-Seven build with a chance of "the bad ending" with one of the stars turning during the match.
I personally like the Austin one better, but the ones in 2K15 were really good. Seriously, none of the showcase modes that came after it even came close to those ones. They should really do future showcase modes like 15 and 16, not just random matches thrown together.
I'd say GM mode is overrated especially since it proved why Kenny Omega made the smart call and not put it in AEW: Fight Forever which is while yes it was requested by fans to come back those same fans who requested it to return soon complained about it when it came back in WWE2K23 stating that "it wasn't the same awesome mode they remembered from SVR 2006 through 2010 but a trainwreck."

The 2K games as a whole definitely feel like they only market presentation and features over gameplay, and this doesn’t sit right for some reason. While graphics and features are important, gameplay is the most important thing considering these are video games at the end of the day, but given how it’s 100% identical on every game, it’s really hard to truly engage with these games compared to the SVR series in my opinion. While that series had its own issues, at least every year felt different in terms of not only features but gameplay as well, hence its easier to differentiate these games compared to the 2K games for the most part. While not every game was perfect, it’s easy to distinguish 2006 to 2007 for example, 2010 to 2011, etc. Here’s hoping 2K can switch things up significantly and make this series better than it should be.🤞🙏
What are you talking about lol the svr games were the same thing every year lol and the games got worse every year at least with 2k we can tell the difference and they add in and fix some of the stuff thq and yuke sgot broke and greedy
@@nevermindgaming6848This is false on so many levels, The SVR games wasn't the same game every year at all They were different in many ways and Alec is right SVR 2006 and 2010 aren't the same gameplay wise or even visual wise an yet you really gonna say we can tell the difference with 2K when all those games are more identical in comparison? The irony Lmao That company lacks so much of the stuff that made the old wwe games unique they didn't "Fix" anything they actually broke it look at 2k20 for example at least all the SVR games actually worked🤣SVR had actual creative story modes like Season Mode/Road to Wrestlemania mode that had a lot of thought put into them, 2K has showcase that let's us play past rivalries so its not bad but however whenever 2K tries to make a made up storyline it usually ends up being cringe they can't create a good story to save their life which explains why they use Showcase so much and the GM mode in SVR had waaay more options too only thing 2K has over SVR to me is being able to roam backstage during a match but even that has its issues despite being in wide areas they never utilize it properly when it came to interacting with the environment its practically limited, In SVR during backstage brawls even during small places like GM offices they gave you so much freedom interacting with multiple objects in the area to slam the opponent into or just use as a weapon in general, Even when it comes to match types we had a diverse set of matches like Buried Alive, Championship scramble, Inferno along with many other unique match types that 2K never has, SVR had so much going for it that 2K still hasn't been able to surpass and i'm not saying All the SVRs were perfect because 2009 is arguably the weakest due to removing GM mode and not having a lot of legends as unlockables but the game gave RTWM, Inferno and Hot tags so i still like it despite the flaws but the point is every year SVR gave something special, i just can't see how 2K fixed anything when SVR had so much creativity that 2K tends to lack

I would flip 22&23 as the cena showcase was bit worse especially as the did not the narration doing the real footage which brought it down over reys and GMmode returned in 22 and had less then 23
Yea John's one was call that you got to play as his opponents but the lack of commentary during those moments just felt dead atleast do what they did with Rey's one

Say what you will about 2k16's MyCareer mode, at least it tried to be a career mode. 2k20 did not have a MyCareer mode. It was a glorified road to wrestlemania. How can you call it a "MyCareer" when you are essentially playing 2 characters and 1 of them is CONSTANTLY PUT DOWN AND BARELY WINS ANY IMPORTANT MATCHES. Like Trey was such a jobber that I'm surprised he won the world championship. Those reigns weren't even that long. OH TREY WINS THE ROYAL RUMBLE!?!?!? Who cares he retires before wrestlemania and then has a wrestlemania mix tag team match as his last match. Funniest part of it all is when the parents came, they looked more like the female CAW implying that Red and Trey are related for some reason. God I hated that MyCareer mode.

The hell? The only good thing about 15 were the showcases
