@@micahfleming9890 of course not, but f1 has team duos we love like lando and carlos, f1 has memes, and they go 20 seconds faster around cota, which is one of the shortest tracks on the f1 calendar. I've done the BMW driving school at Road America many times since 1995. Back in 2002, after just taking delivery of my new E46 M3, I attended the school again, and Indycar driver Memo Gidley was a classroom instructor, but not a track instructor (for some odd reason). So at the end of one of my classroom sessions, I asked Memo if he'd like to drive my M3 around Road America at the next track session in a few minutes and he said, "Absolutely." He then drove my M3 around Road America (with me in the passenger seat) with only one hand on the wheel the whole time, and drove the wheels off the thing. I was terrified for the first half of the first lap, but then I said to myself, "Ya know what: if you're gonna die, this is the way to go. How many people get to have an Indycar racer drive a person's own car around one of the great tracks of the world?" That thought relaxed me completely, and I was in heaven for the rest of the 35-minute session. And even though I was in the advanced group, I'd enter the braking zone of Turn 5 at 145 mph, but Memo managed to trigger the top-speed governor by coming in at 155 mph. After the session, Memo gave me some great advice on adjusting my camber settings at the rear, but said he loved the car, which kinda made my day. Also, after dropping Memo off, I drove back to my spot on the paddock, and everyone in my group was coming up to me and saying how amazing I did in that session and that I was passing everyone, etc. It was tempting to take credit, but I told everyone Memo was driving, which prompted responses like, "I *_knew_* no one could improve that much in one session." Anyway, that was maybe my best day ever.
What a fantastic camera perspective. This is the first time I've seen Visor Cam and it really does give you better idea of what it's like to sit in the cockpit. :) Would love to see this in F1
I agree dude. This track is like an American version of Imola, narrow, fast, and loads of concrete walls and trees. I honestly don't mind COTA but it is a copy and paste race track.
@@elijahkoch6360 I've always thought the same. From the narrow circuit and it's patchwork paving , to the famous kink. The high overhead view they used many times reminded me of the old tamburello curve but a right hand instead of left hand.
It's the first time I've watched through a visor cam and that's the way to go. Great view. I especially love the Mario Kart style map in the top corner showing your progress around the track.
To give an idea of how different the CART series was in the 90's. The 2001 record time is 3 seconds faster than the 2016 fastest qualifying time. they were beast on fast circuits. They hit 200 MPH on the back straight. But even with Toyota, Mercedes, Honda and Ford and different 3 chassis, surprisingly todays Indy cars have most slow circuit records, but . Mid-Ohio , Road America, laguna Seca the old CART series have those.. I attribute these lap times now to the automatic gearbox and advances in general. CART were 900 HP beast, one would think they would have all the records.
I love driving on this track in real life, and I like that even watching in an Indycar the front straight is super long and it takes awhile to reach turn 1.
Awesome track!! It reminds me of Spa because it has smooth turns (not a single pointy corner or hairpin) and runs through hills and trees. I love the hill on the main straight. Like if u agree
Osman Alejandro Velarde Gutierrez Yeah but A1 is far shorter, both Spa and RA are 4 miles plus, and A-1 has nothing like the kink and kettle bottom. You come out of the Carousel going uphill into the off camber kink then downhill into kettle bottom and into the hard breaking zone at Canada corner, which is a lot like eun rouge, raidillon, kemmel into les combes only downhill. Only a true open wheel race car can take either complex flat out and any small mistake and your either unsettled and losing time or off track. Road America is far more complex than the A-1, Spa is a better comparison.
I was confused as to why he was lifting through the kink. Then I saw Wickens go through at Canada corner. Thought I was going crazy because I didn't think you'd need to lift at all in an IndyCar, going through there.
Finally an Indy Series circuit that is not a never-ending left corner! Didn't know there also were typical circuits, similar to F1. Hope there are even more like this in the Series!
SSTWELVE Yeah, when I first wrote that comment I was still mostly ignorant about IndyCar. I discovered after a few months that it’s actually very similar to F1 and other than the Indy 500 and a few other events, it’s almost always held at regular circuits. The one that is only held at ovals is Nascar. That’s why Indy is my fav American racing serie!
+Edward Newman In an interview with the (at least statistically seen) best F1 driver, Michael Schumacher, that I watched, he's asked if he still gets adrenaline from driving an F1 car, and his reply is "Adrenaline, no, but I still get very excited everytime I jump into a racing car". So my guess is that this guy didn't get any adrenaline or rush from that ride, but that he loved it (was very excited about it).
Thanks for the info. I imagine the "rush" of it may happen at the beginning, but the more you race you learn to manage it. I guess I was really speaking for how it would make me feel rather than the driver.
this is so much more fun to watch when you’ve completely owned this track in Forza 6 more times than you can count 😁 now, if only i could get the chance to pilot a brand new 2019 Nissan GT-R around it...
Thanks for the video! GoPro are insane..wow Just to say you drive almost exactly like i do.... strange and funny same braking point aceleration ... funny! thx again for the video!
to be clear me it's in sim racing..... but even then it's kind of the same (brake, apex, throtle) all those thing in 2 second! did i need to say i like racing?

Turn 5 is fairly slow. Not terrible on the bumps, though turn 1 is pretty noticeable. COTA was way worse on the bumps.

Excellent camerawork. The lack of steadicam really improves the sense of actually being in the car.

Really awesome view. But why do we need a compass in an onboard cam????
Bruno Feijó No one knows...
(~°
That's the cornering meter. Shows just how hard the driver is pushing it in the turns.
He means the compass in the middle of the speedo on the left, identified via N, S, E and W.... You're talking about the G-force meter.
