Video recommendation: knowledge that can be learned before going into OCS. I know learning the weapon conditions, Marine rank structure, and the 11 general orders are good things to learn beforehand, but what other information could we learn to make the knowledge at OCS minimal
I haven’t gone to OCS yet, I’m currently pursuing a PLC contract. But I would suggest learning Marine Corps History and the contents of the 5 paragraph OPORD
Thank you for the insight, Sir. My ship date is Sunday for PLC Jr's. I've watched a few of your videos to help with my mental preparation. They have definitely helped.
I know what you are feeling. Confidence is key, my friend. Work hard. I appreciate your kind words. Please support my channel even after you are done with OCS, I would greatly appreciate it!
I think 30 is not too old of an age. Many have done it. But, I do not remember many people of 30 who had not served... regardless, I think you will be fine. Do not worry. Work hard.
Can you do a video about chits, about dealing with critique and navigating socially in an environment where people are grading you on everything. You’re a big help, thanks for doing this
Thank you for this post. Question: Is there a stage (ex., last 4 weeks, last 2 weeks, etc.) where you can be reasonably assured "you are going to make it"? Granted, you can get the boot and sent home in the last days before Graduation, but if you can say, when is there the point where candidates pretty much can safely say "I got this"....(if that point exists).
@@Hatchet-wy3vn that’s a good question. Depends on your performance. If you are doing well by week 5, I think you can say you have it down. But the events get progressively harder the farther you go. But as far as the Sergeant instructors blasting you as hard, I think if you make it to week 5 and you aren’t getting fucked up daily, you should be good
I don’t know if it is “hard” to get accepted… however it is hard to get yourself to a point, physically, to have a shot at getting accepted. Like I have stated, if you have a 280+ pft with good letters of recommendation and decent grades, I do not think it is difficult at all… but the process of getting to those numbers can be difficult…
You have been unbelievably helpful in my prep as a college senior for OCS, I've been trying my best to prepare to be comfortable with a competitive 5K time. I haven't reached out to a recruiter yet, and I leave back to campus for my senior year at the end of August. Should I contact my local recruiting station before I leave or wait until I graduate?
Can you please keep it real… how hard is ocs from 1-10. I hear some say it’s not like how people say it is . I’m prior enlisted so I’m wondering how much harder it is .
If you have a 280+ PFT and can handle the stresses of a "boot camp" type training atmosphere... I would say 5/10. Definitely not too bad if you are prior enlisted.
@@MrJoshHodge how is life as an officer ? Is the pay pretty good? Are you thinking of getting another contract? I’m interested in being an officer because I want a stable career that can help take care of my family .
Depends... if you can drive, drive because you will have a car and a big advantage during weekend libos, plus you'll be able to have your car immediately when you check into TBS

What was the oldest candidate you had in your OCS class, and where they able to keep up moderately well?
probably a raider who was in his mid to late 30s. Yes, he was the best in the entire class
@@MrJoshHodge nice! Thank you sir. What about people that hadn’t served to that point? I’m 30 and considering OCS.
