  • Hey Guys,
    In this video I introduce what the tests at OCS are like so you have a rough idea as to what to expect when you get there. This was highly requested by most of you on my previous video, so I hope this answers all questions and helps in explaining how they work!
    As always, feel free to reach with ANY questions or concerns via the comment section or my social media.
    Thanks for watching and I'll see you all in the next one!

    How do you recommend getting fit for OCS? I’m in college right now and am interested in Marine OCS. I’m basically starting from the bottom when it comes to exercising. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks for the vids!

      Run a PFT at least once a week. Use the Armstrong Pullup Program and plank a lot. For running you need to SLOWLY build yourself up to at least 3 miles a day 5 days a week. Stretch and take yoga if you can for recovery. Focus on form for everything, look up how to prevent shin splints/how to stretch after runs.

      If possible, seek out the NROTC unit if your school has one. Affiliate with the Marine Options and show up for ALL of their PT and classroom events. There is a reason that their "Bulldog" OCS session is only 6 weeks long. The come fit and prepared.

    How much time do you get between OCS and TBS? Will I be able to come back home and help my spouse move with me to TBS?

    How do the weekends with liberty work? Also, (totally random) how does it work if you need to make a head call at random moments? Lol thank you

    • @AndrewDanko
      @AndrewDanko  2 года назад +3

      You'll start getting liberty after the 3rd week or so. It'll start on a sunday and be just for a few hours, and each week you'll usually get more and more time. You get your phone back and can usually go off of Brown field to the nearby dunkin, mcdonalds, or Q-town which has a lot of good little food spots. I would usually just eat whatever I wanted and called family members during my time. You can also sleep or study, completely up to you.

    • @AndrewDanko
      @AndrewDanko  2 года назад +3

      As for head calls, they'll give you the opportunity to hit the head very often, don't worry. You'll drink a lot of fluids and thus will have plenty of opportunities. This in mind, you'll sweat a LOT because its so hot, meaning you'll lose a lot of fluid this way, this means you prob won't need to hit the head as often as you'd think..Just food for thought on that. Hope this helps!

    Andrew, are most of USMC instructors enlisted or officer? Do you have any navy instructors

    • @AndrewDanko
      @AndrewDanko  2 года назад +4

      The instructors are all enlisted - and no, the only Navy personnel you’ll see at OCS are the Corpsman (the medical staff). This is because the marine corps doesn’t have corpsman so we use the Navy corpsman instead.

    • @cheeseman7453
      @cheeseman7453 2 года назад

    • @cheeseman7453

      There was a you tube video you might have seen it there was a naval officer presenting a lecture to OCS students he might have been a doctor or asked to come and speak to the class the you tube video was entitled the making of a marine corps officer
