      Summary of armored core is a clash of moralities and indulgence. You are a mercenary who pilots an AC(armored core) you fulfill missions requested by large corporations that usually require you destroying/sabotaging other large corps for the sake of an advancement of the requesting corp. This includes fighting head on against defenses as seen in this trailer, you could be going against large mechs armed to the brim with artillery, turrets, choppers, ect. Sometimes you'll even be going against other AC's requested to defend against you by the opposing corp. This is all for the sake of money, as you are in the end a merc. Although, these companies will pit you against some hard choices that will be up to you if its worth the money or not. But it seems the case in this game that you are genetically modified back to life by your "handler" named Walter, he basically owns you and you work as a merc under his surveillance. Though there are speculations that at some point in the game we break free from his control and become independent again as we were in previous titles.

    A couple of things
    1: AC works in generations, each numbered installment generally requires no prior experience to enjoy
    2: You can probably run the game! It's being built to also run on the PS4 so it's likely that your setup can handle it around medium graphics at least
    3: That Dreadnaught analogy is pretty on the nose lol
    4: If you're interested in seeing more of the game there are gameplay trailers up and a bunch of videos from people who were invited to play the first few hours early (including vaatividya)
    I'd love to see your takes on some of the other AC trailers, they all have a similar feel. I know my favourites are AC V and AC IV's

    In Armored Core the morality is about on par with early Mechanicus indeed, with some parts with Cyberpunk (Corporations completely replacing governing institutions).
    In Armored Core 1 to 4, we had pilots called Raven who are basically elite mercenary of exceptional skills. Ravens formed some third party organization to act as mediators. Ravens loyalty all fell under a mediator organization who lend them out as mercenary for a given operation making their employment expensive.
    In Armored Core 4, the newer version of these pilots were the Lynx (called Links in Japanese) piloting new Armored Core named Next, and whose nerves are directly linked to the machine's electronics allowing even faster response time.and those with low compatibility get put under immense pain and stress going axe crazy or get killed by their own machine from not being able to handle the immense stress and pain. In a way most bodily functions is optional for combat operation. And worst is that for Lynx no mediator organization could be formed as their version of such an organization was gutted from the start (more like a puppet organization for the corporations) leaving them with little to no human right to serve their corporate overlords.
    One one side you get the weaker Raven pilots who has mediator for more expensive contracts and better condition whose strength is disposable at best but are willing to fight till the end probably having contracts reward next of kins should they pass away in operation. But their weaker abilities and reaction time and their expensive employment phased out their existence over time in favor of other kind of pilots and sometimes undergoing transition into a Lynx.
    Then you have the stronger Lynx pilots, with no mediator for good contracts or working conditions being cheap labor compared to the Ravens, whose strength border on the super elite, but are rarely fighting to the bitter end, sometimes attempting to flee when taking too much damage, whether it is on the corporation's orders to recover the valuable "Next"(the Armored Core itself not the pilot) for future operation or because they were forced into the battlefield to begin with.
    And that is just the pilot aspect from the older continuity. The Armored Core 5 and Verdict Day continuity was less about the individual pilot's body horror and more about some factions making mechanical super-weapon horrors on the scale you'd never want to see.
    Ranging from the Armored Core Exusia whose size, speed and agility dwarfed all other Armored Cores of it's time and whose generator was so powerful it single-handedly polluted the area causing pollution storms (it's destruction let the pollution recede to some degree over the years).
    The "Type D No. 5", a super skyscraper heavy duty Armored Core whose pinky is the size of a normal Armored Core.
    The mobile weapons being autonomous murder machines, like the Scavenger, Hunter, Predator that are autonomous unmanned mechanical juggernaut that will keep killing everything inside of it's operation range leading other smaller autonomous weapons like a beast leading it's pack to hunt.
    The Grey Lotus being a swarm of flying grey spinning gears that each part are super armored and loaded with every kind of weapons raining death from above.
    The small unnamed and Unmanned war machines who is a an ever expanding swarm that expand in un-lived area and burrow underground waiting years or decades for something to kill.
    To the older continuity Assault Cells being an automatic satellite weapon array killing anything trying to escape orbit.
    In all continuity of Armored Core the world get filled with death trap filled with killing machines both manned and unmanned, pollution until the area is unlivable, encroaching desert expanding as far as the eye can see, massive city ruins and graveyard. While it isn't as bad as 40k you can see that it can be very much on it's way there.

      @haraken3119 11 месяцев назад

      @@ranbojd1070 I know, I was just listing previous elements as of before the game released (see the "3 weeks ago" next to my username).
      The game director said it was a new continuity in AC 6, but some elements carried over from one continuity to another.
      And one thing that Armored Core kept is the mechanized, corporate horrors.
      If anything some of the boss fight could fit right in V and Verdict Day with the autonomous C-Weapons.
      And the pilot story also moonlights some aspect of the older Armored Core before V (with Lynx (augmented humans) and "Ravens").
      Both thing would be right up the alley of a 40k fan talking about an early Mechanicus.
      Also, if anything the new continuity basically merge elements of both previous continuity in one streamline version on another planet not requiring 7 previous title to be played to understand the elements and tropes.

    To explain Armored Core in a nutshell, take a racing game with an in depth, VERY granular focus on car customization, now replace cars with big ass robots, and races with warzones, add a morally ambiguous narrative, and you have Armored Core, for you Souls fans, you get to play as customizable variations of sub-bosses.
    Also, for scale, think Scout Titan for your average Core, up to Imperator for bosses that ARE essentially the landscape.
    Also, we NOW demand a monthly Armored Core Stream.

    Machine Spirits? We don't do that here, in the grim darkness of the XXXX century, there is no spiritualism, no hope, only the constant flames of war and limitless ambition of corporate superpowers. If you are luckily, you will remain intact. If not, that isn't our problem.
    Also note that these are relatively small Armored Cores and they are still the same size (and significantly more powerful then) knights. The older series had Armored Cores that were the size of Warhound titans and had enough firepower to level a city combined with the ability to go casually supersonic and shoot missiles out of the sky. These aren't the superweapons, those are giant mobile fortresses that could very literally step on an Imperator class titan.

    We are seemingly seeing a renaissance of mech IPs. Gundam, Battletech, and now Armored Core. There are more names in the ring, but those are the big ones with seniority.

    AC is awesome. Please watch the game play trailer :).
    The dreadnought analogy wasnt that far off, pilots get hardwired into their ACs (Armored Cores). I think there are/were models were ppl just sat in them, but a hardlink is better by miles. They are integrated in the systems like princeps iirc.
    Story of the universe in a rough overview: Its the future. Spacetravel is a thing. Corperate distopia, where they use mercenaries / private armies to fight each other over resources ect.
    You are a Merc, and it sounds like we are in debt slavery in AC6.

    So you aren't a Dreadnaught. You are closer to a Knight Princept or Pilot from Titanfall, forced into Human Plus Augmentation due to debt. It essentially speeds up your reaction times by a few magnitudes, removes some "useless" organs, and gives you fancy new robotic limbs to take full advantage of your new synthetic reaction times. Our character 621 has a bit of brain damage but can still walk around and live outside of our mech.

  • @bthsr7113
    @bthsr7113 11 месяцев назад +4

    Gundam hasn't gone this visceral in modified pilots to my knowledge, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. There's one ace suit you have to be a quadriplegic with special prosthetic sockets to fly. There are suits that directly interface with nanotech grafts in spinal columns and risk permanent nerve damage if safeties are disengaged. There are some with a different neural interface that can overload the brain with information and outright kill you by overwhelming your body in fewer than 6 full power sorties. Then there are the ones where your mind and even soul leave the flesh for the machine. Sometimes intentionally. And then there's cyber newtypes, but their problems are usually more under the skin neurological and psychological as opposed to not having skin and limbs.
    Naturally these prices are paid for incredible power.
    Oh, actually, there IS one guy who became a brain in a box wired to another guy's cockpit. We did not see inside the box, but I'd be surprised if there was much more than the brain and a bit of spine left.

    • @dagonofthedepths
      @dagonofthedepths 11 месяцев назад +2

      Oh yeah they had. I mean they took a newtype and stuck her ghost in a mobile suit. I don't know how you can get more visceral than that. Plus IBO. But the whole ghost controlling an ac I don't think is a thing unless that's a later thing. Walter says, "-Enough money for even a brain addled human like you to earn freedom." So I would assume you can leave the AC.

    • @bthsr7113
      @bthsr7113 11 месяцев назад

      @@dagonofthedepths 1 when I said visceral I meant shown physical details. In theory, having what makes the body into a person being absorbed into a war machine is worse, but in practice, actually showing exposed muscle, wires wrapped around nerve clusters, and interface spikes in the head is ickier.
      2 I didn't think any AC had digitally absorbed their pilot, just used it to show the full extent of what can happen with the bond between man and machine in the Gundam Franchise to highlight that they COULD get visceral like this or a 40k dread where it's a torso permanently wired in, as Gundam has shown both more and less severe concepts.
      3 I didn't mention IBO by name to avoid specific spoilers. Using examples without saying which series they're from makes things harder to predict for people who haven't seen them but might after reading my comment.

    I'm gonna be straight up, nobody knows much about the general story line. This is a new story compared to the other 15 AC games and besides a few statements the company made and what is in trailers, nobody knows 100% for sure what's going on. A lot of people saw the AC's head move at the end and thought your spirit was in it on that alone. Which it's fun to speculate but anyone that is stating detailed facts should be taken with salt.
    But the old system if you're interested, there was cybernetics that had horrible side effects you could get to make piloting an AC way easier but for the most part, you just piloted like a Gundam or Battlemech. In 4 you had a new type of AC called a NEXT and you had to be pretty much the titian version of a Grey Knight to use it. Better of a psyker you where the more speed and agility you can get out of your Armored Core NEXT. Guessing 6 is going back to 1-3 in the idea that your augmented to use your AC better but really idk.
    But been w8ing 10 years for this, would be there day 1 if I didn't have to work lol. Stupid adulting.

    Armored Core has had an undercurrent of human instrumentality and dehumanization right from the first game. Though each “generation” of AC doesn’t directly link into the others, 1-3 have shared the concept of “human plus”, a program which takes in pilots heavily in debt and enhances them, but makes them corporate property in the process. AC4 introduced the concept of LYNX, pilots directly wired into their machines, allowing for greater degrees of agility and fine control. AC6 seems to be continuing this concept, where Coral - the mysterious substance at the centre of the plot - is used to integrate the pilot into the AC. It would also seem that doing so makes you into something seen as less than human.
