Shepard can survive in his human form if they choose destruction. They will survive with Control (but become a god). You're really doomed only if you choose symbiose... And really, it's the worst option. Control let you take the place of the IA who destroy the galaxy every 50000 years and loved to play with the galaxy as his playground... And is full of shit... With all his great word about évolution, I didn't forget that they provoc the rachni extinction. This race was everything they wanted to protect if they were true to their word. A species who would bever create another IA. They even disregard the truce and alliance you could build between Quarian and Geth. Symbiose is only giving it new toy to play with... Destruction is my fav. I'm sorry for the Geth and IDA, but I refuse to create or become a god (a tangible god is something really frightening) or to let a hypocrit as a god (really fuck up IA). But yeah... Even if Shep survive destruction (I always do), they probably never totally recover from the war. I imagine my shep being handicaped after that. The tech inside Shep wasn't needed anymore to keep them alive as most of the intern biology has restaured itself, but I think it still help them to move freely.

He was good (but you have to keep playing until you finished Eos). For the next... Well, if it's in the milky way and after mass effect 3, I don't know. Symbiose can make us discover what our new organism might be but I don't think they will choose it. More likely Destruction or Control (people dislike change and new mysteries, as Andromeda showed us, so no risk for the licence). Control mean that we've still got all the race plus the Reaper. Destruction mean all the race minus the geths and the reaper. So destruction ending, and probably with Shepard who didn't succeed with the diplomacy between geth and quarians, side with the quarians... Or succeed, but with destruction it mean little as long as you didn't side against the quarians. After thaT... I don't know. Probably a specter of any concillian race (and laybe quarians too) helping the counsil dealing with the milky way reconstruction.

I love the idea of a Spacer Shepard and being able to keep in contact with your parents, but then it also hurts me to think about how much you are probably hurting and worrying them. I mean you literally die at the beginning of ME2, and then miraculously show up again some years later still alive only to die again at the end of ME3 (well, unless you choose to destroy all the Reapers and Geth, and have a high enough preparedness score). Just the thought of putting Shepard's mom and dad through that kind of pain and trauma... it makes it hard for me to choose Spacer because I love my own real life parents so much.
Man this version of Shepard is so much less badass. Earthborn Sole Survivor is definitely the most heroic background, the most Shepard-like if you will.
