    *Review:*
    The Avantone CV-12 has received positive reviews for its vintage-inspired sound quality and versatility. Here are some key points to consider:
    1. *Warm and Vintage Sound:* The CV-12 is often praised for its rich and warm tonal characteristics, which make it well-suited for capturing vocals, acoustic instruments, and various sound sources. The tube circuitry contributes to a classic, analog sound.
    2. *Versatile Polar Patterns:* The ability to select from nine different polar patterns (including omnidirectional, cardioid, and figure-8) provides flexibility for various recording situations. This versatility makes it a valuable tool in a studio environment.
    3. *Build Quality:* The microphone is built with attention to detail and durability in mind. It comes in a rugged metal body, and the included shock mount helps reduce vibrations and handling noise.
    4. *Accessories:* The CV-12 often comes with a dedicated power supply, a padded wooden box for storage, and a shock mount, which adds value to the package.
    5. *Affordability:* Compared to some high-end studio microphones, the Avantone CV-12 is considered reasonably priced, making it a more accessible option for home studio owners and project studios.
    However, it's essential to note that microphone technology and product availability can change over time. For the most up-to-date information and user reviews, I recommend checking recent sources, including manufacturer websites and online music gear retailers, to ensure you have the latest information on the Avantone CV-12 and its performance in real-world applications.

    Good day. I’m pretty new to this. I love the info you shared but I have a question. Will this mic work with my Zoom H4? The whole box that comes with the mic confused me.

    • @CharlieHunt
      @CharlieHunt  Месяц назад

      Hey Jason, yes this will work with your recorder. The box that comes with the microphone is what powers the mic and changes it's polar patterns. So on you simply plug the xlr into your recorder and remember DO NOT turn on phantom power on the zoom recorder. 👍🏼

    It’s an OK starter model 12. I found the diaphragm to be somewhat flawed with a few resonant frequencies that get out of control. It’s also pretty dark compared to like a vintage 87. I’d recommend the WA-12 instead; much better diaphragm and circuitry. I own both. Sold the Avantone.

    Been looking to upgrade my mic (I’ve been using a sudotak condenser mic for a while) but it keeps peaking whenever I hit louder high notes, and I have to hold the mic far away to prevent this. Does the Avatone handle vocal belting well? I’ve heard a LOT of mixed opinions on it, but I’ve heard it’s good for female pop vocals (which is what I need it for) I’m worried that I would get it for 350$-400$ only to think it sounds bad or wish I had gone for a better, cheaper alternative. However, aesthetically I love the idea of this mic and I would love to have a tube mic, and this is the cheapest tube mic available that I’ve seen
    Also, is there any way to connect this mic or it’s power supply to my laptop computer? I have a USB converter that plugs directly into the bottom of a mic, but I don’t know if that would work
    Thank you so much for the review!

      Hey thanks for your comment, in my honest opinion I think I would personally prefer to go with the Fluid audio axis I was in lobe with the sound of it and the price is perfect it sounds way more expensive than it costs it sounds like a £900 mic. There is a review of it on my channel.
      As for connecting to your laptop u need an audio interface, I'm using a universal audio volt 1 on my laptop and it sounds incredible.
      All the best 👍🏼

      @@CharlieHuntThank you so much for the wonderful advice! As for audio interfaces, does the quality/price of the interface matter? Like if I have a high-quality mic but a cheap audio interface, will the recording on my laptop sound low-quality? Or will it just translate exactly what was recorded on the mic? Sorry, I’m still very new to understanding more complex mics, haha

      @CharlieHunt  6 месяцев назад +1

      @themusicalladylil generally the more expensive an audio interface the better the internal preamps are but if you purchase one like the volt series from universal audio or Amy other mainstream brand you will find your mic will sound it's best and in some cases can have a nicer unique character. Bare in mind tho you may not be able to connect your USB mic to your audio interface it will force you to buy an xlr mic. Hope this helps
      Fluid axis
      Volt 1 or 2
      = very nice audio 👌🏼

    Hello bro, I have a question, how do I connect a tube microphone to my interface? I also have a Universal Audio Volt 1 and I currently use a Tascam TM-280, but I plan to buy an Avantone Cv12 in the future. My question is if there is no problem connecting the tube microphone to the interface and if so, do I need a preamp? external or is the interface enough? thank you!.

    • @CharlieHunt
      @CharlieHunt  9 месяцев назад +3

      Hey Pedro, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, so the tube mic gets its power from a power supply that will come with the mic.
      So in the case of the volt 1 and the cv-12 what you need to do is plug the power supply into your wall socket, connect the supplied 8pin mic cable to the power supply output port and the other cable Into your mic.
      You then put the xlr cable from the power supply to the volt 1 mic port, make sure phantom power is turned off as it gets its power from the avantone power supply.
      And that's all you need to get going no extra parts needed

      @@CharlieHunt thanks man, I needed that explanation to calm me down, I thought it needed external preamps or something like that for it to work and that my interface wasn't going to be enough.

    Hello can I use a scarlett 2i2 interface with this?

    • @CharlieHunt
      @CharlieHunt  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah don't see why not as long as you have xlr connection, just be sure not to apply any phantom power to it.

    Is there a specific reason you have it upside down thought instead of upward ?

    • @CharlieHunt
      @CharlieHunt  10 месяцев назад +4

      It was just to look cool on camera, and a nod to old tube mics that had to be hung upside down to prevent the heat from the tube passing up into the capsule

    I bought one of these several years ago and it sounded very mid range and nasty compared to my other large diaphragm mics. Maybe defective? I’ve since picked up a few Warm Audio tube mic clones and some high end mics that all sound great.

    • @CharlieHunt
      @CharlieHunt  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah I agree with you I did enjoy the sound but I have to be honest I preferred the sound of the Fluid Axis over it, and I especially love the sound of the Jz V11 it suits my voice so well. But yes if I had to choice I think the best bang for buck mic with the best sound and build would be the Axis. It is very crisp upfront and modern even though it looks like its from the 80s

      🤣😅 of course that's standard physics, I think I was referring to modern tubes not generating as much temperature as previous generations
