this was very useful thank you - i actually already own this mic, but i enjoyed learning more about the context from which it came, and also the reassurance that i made a good choice! (i know, trust your own ears...) I would love you to do a video talking through in detail how you approach getting your lead vocal sound on e.g. the man i am (approach to any recording or mix considerations re doubling/comping, eq, compression, reverb/any other post processing you do)
I probably changed the first tube because I wanted to try the NOS tube thing. But I know i've changed two or three tubes because they failed. Of course this is over a fifteen year period so that should speak good of the mic design.
I’m trying to decide between this and the Lauten Audio Clarion. I know the LA is a little more expensive but I’m ok with that if it’s a better microphone. I’m looking for a great vocal mic. Which do you prefer?
I believe the first time I changed the tube was for an "upgrade" to a NOS tube. After that, I could tell by the noise the mic made. It's a relatively inexpensive mic but they're doing it right. I still use it a lot!
@sacalaitproductions7279 is it a high-frequency almost spikey sound? I ask because I stored mine as a result with the intention of replacing the capsule. Just never thought it may be the tube!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Was very helpful to me.

It doesn't take much eq to get this mic working nicely. I still believe it could be the best bang for the the buck microphone built right now at $399.
Great review...Thank you!😁
I’d love to mod my microphone also! This is a good video, can you tell me what brand did you use for the 6072a tube swap?
I tried a couple of NOS tubes over the years but can’t say the new production tubes are bad either.
@@sacalaitproductions7279 ok which manufacturer tube do you have in it when you made this video?
Great review! What have you found is the sweet spot with the tube lifespan? I few hours of use on a new tube, or does it not matter much?

I like this mic. I like it a lot. I've had no issues with mine and I continue to use it a lot. Probably my #2 mic behind the Lauten Clarion.
@@DigitalSacalait thanks, sounds like I need to buy both, lol.
I have this cv12 mic. Lovely sound overall. But my mojave ma300 takes first place now..
If i may ask(and you might have touched on it) what are some symptoms of the sound that lets you know when the tube needs changing?
