    Your Metamask should only act as a gateway to your Trezor hardware wallet. You should not restore your Metamask wallet onto your Trezor (not secure), or restore your Trezor onto your Metamask (reveals seed phrase online, liable to hack).

    Sorry guys (and gals) I should have clarified on the video: if you already have a Metamask wallet you don't need to make a new one. You can just keep your current Metamask wallet and connect your Trezor, then transfer all your crypto out of the Metamask into your Trezor wallet. The Metamask wallet will then just be a dummy wallet that you don't use. I just did the demo as if someone doesn't have a Metamask wallet at all. It also doesn't matter if you have exposed this dummy Metamask wallet's seed phrase to the internet because we won't be using it after we have connected our Trezor, and it won't contain any of our crypto as we are transferring it all into our Trezor as soon as we connect them 😉. Hopefully that's clear but any Q's let me know 🙂

      If metamask has been compromised, does that protect my funds after I migrated meta address into trezor?

    • @LifeOptimise
      @LifeOptimise  2 года назад +1

      @@cryptomomsh466 So sorry I didn't get notified of this reply.
      No sorry you are NOT protected if you migrate your Meta into your Trezor. This is what I see people advising to do on other RUclips videos and it is WRONG!!
      If your Metamask has been compromised the chances are they now have your seed phrase, so even if you protect this wallet with your Trezor the seed phrase is like a skeleton key that just opens the back door into your wallet so it is able to bypass ALL security measures.
      This is why it is so important to NEVER expose your seed phrase to anyone (even your granny). Never type it in anywhere, never take a pic of it anywhere (even if it is just stored on your own personal pc or phone), never type it in notes, type it in to restore your wallet (unless it is an emergency) or tell anyone etc because you are basically just giving them your crypto.
      If your Metamask has been compromised you need to connect your Trezor to it (as I have shown in the video, DO NOT restore it or type your seed phrase in though, you just click connect and select the Trezor wallet and that's it, no typing seed phrases in at any point as this can compromise your seed phrase), then transfer any remaining crypto from Meta into Trezor, NOW your crypto is protected, I hope that helps?

      If keep your current Metamask wallet and connect it to Trezor as you described, which address is used for people sending you crypto? Does someone send crypto to you via the metamask address or the Trezor address?

    • @LifeOptimise
      @LifeOptimise  2 года назад +1

      @@B4winning Hi thanks for the Q, they can transfer straight into your Trezor wallet now, you don't need to use your Metamask wallet at all anymore, and you should avoid using it at all.
      Treat it as a hacked account now. It is fine to be connected to it because they still can't access your Trezor wallet but just don't use it for any transfer in and out it is just a dummy account.

      @@LifeOptimise That's exactly what I'm doing. I'm getting to the stage where I think I'm ready to up my amounts each month actually 😁 Would be keen to hear your thoughts on how you evaluate crypto and decide which coins to invest in.

    • @LifeOptimise
      @LifeOptimise  2 года назад +1

      @@DomandMeg Haha so the answer I would like to give is: by following lots of expert's advice, spending hours reading white papers, websites, evaluating business models, making sure they have enough followers and hype to reach a good size market cap and then comparing their current market cap to a similar, larger successful project and setting my initial take profit amount at a conservative level in relation to that . . . . .
      But the honest answer is I just follow lots of crypto investors online that I have some degree of trust in, do a bit of research into some of their recommendations that I think have potential and place a small enough amount that if it goes to zero I'm not too fussed, but big enough that it will make a good profit if it does a few x and ALWAYS try to take initial capital off the table as soon as 2 or 3x is hit, then let the rest run. And what I haven't been doing (mostly due to stupidity and greed) is then taking regular profits along the way, which I do plan to overcome now, as I just watch all these 10x gains crumble back into average 2-3x gains 👀😓😂.
      That is definitely not advice I would tell anyone else to follow though haha, but has been working pretty well for me. There are thousands of projects now, it's so hard wading through all the noise to find the good ones early enough. Some shit projects will pump just due to having enough influencers and hype behind them and some amazing projects will fail because they don't get enough hype so even if you follow the recommended first paragraph above and do mountains of research there is still an element of luck involved. So it's mainly about risk vs reward, correct asset allocation and removing risk AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE (which I know you know all about buddy 😉).
      Also try not to invest into 20+ projects because you can't invest enough into each project to make any difference to your portfolio, the gains just get watered down. I have friends that message me saying "I've just put £10 into this project" and while yes that is great that they are investing in crypto and learning, developing the correct mindset . . . . even if that investment explodes and does 10x what will they make? . . . . £100. It's not going to change their life anytime soon. And when you then take into account they have probably also invested £10 into 19 OTHER projects too they then need to make profit across most of the investments to actually see any profit but what is more likely to happen is 10 of them will go to zero (-£100), 3 or 4 won't do anything, 2 or 3 will do 3x (£90) and 2 or 3 will do 10x (£300) so yes the 3 that 10x make them £300 but as they've got a lot of losers and a few smaller wins their account is: initial £200 - £100 + £90 + £300 = +£490. Whereas if they had spent a bit more time researching just 2 or 3 projects, really understanding the project, how they are going to serve the world and the crypto community etc and taking a slightly larger position in just a few projects they could then maybe put £70 into 3 projects, 1 goes to zero -£70, 1 does nothing and 1 does 10x = £700, with a lot less hassle and stress.
      Obviously diversification and spreading risk has its advantages but I think a lot of people are OVER diversified in crypto. Investing in just 3 projects is a bit extreme but I definitely wouldn't be in more than 10. When you have 20 - 30 in your portfolio you are definitely hindering your results and chasing too many shiny objects haha.

Just wanted to say thanks, and to let you know that the Keystone air-gapped wallet can now be integrated with metamask as well, making things even more secure ... supposedly. I don't like the fact that it's made in China, or that you have to download updates to a micro sd card. Any chance you are able to share how to use Yoroi / Adalite with Trezor? I can't seem to find much information on this.
    Also, I believe (please correct me if I am mistaken) that the Trezor does not support Luna or Solana coins/tokens and it seems like the other best alternative hardware wallet is the Ledger Nano X. Have you used it before? If yes, may I know what your thoughts are on it?

      I'm sorry I don't know anything about Yoroi/Adalite so I can't help you with that.
      And yes unfortunately Luna or SOL is not available on Trezor via Metamask without some form of wrapping/bridging etc first which is a shame. I do have both ledger models as I was planning on doing an honest comparison review on them . . . . but they are both still in the wrappers haha. A few of the groups I'm in people started complaining and having problems with the software and connecting them to Metamask and I just never got around to it. I will try and get a review done in the next couple of weeks and let you know what I think, but to be completely honest it will be difficult to give an honest review when I don't really use it (so I'm going to struggle understanding all the Apps etc that you need to upload), and I love my simple Trezor so much 😍.

      I'm sorry I'm not familiar with Drip how does it work? Have you staked this coin within your Metamask account and now you can't move it? If that is the case there isn't anything you can do I'm afraid.
      If you can un-stake them, move them into the newly connected Trezor account then re-stake that is the only way to secure them.
      All you can do is move all your other crypto into the newly connected Trezor account and just have to leave the DRIP where they are knowing they are vulnerable but hopefully they don't get hacked (if there is no way for you to move them a hacker won't be able to either 😉). If they pay out rewards just claim them, then move them out into the Trezor as soon as you can.

      The Trezor Model T connects via bluetooth but I haven't used it myself so I'm not too sure how it works with a phone, and no I don't trade any crypto on my phone. Using bluetooth just adds another vulnerability that someone could exploit in my eyes, and also phones aren't very secure and have been known to download malware and key logging software too so I don't personally use them, That's not to say they're not safe but I can see lots of potential weak spots that I wasn't happy with. We also carry phones around with us everywhere that we could lose or get stolen.
      I have a Trezor One that I use with Metamask and as a cold storage that I love and have never needed the upgraded model T for anything. When you use Trezor one with Metamask I don't know of any crypto on Metamask that you can't also access on your Trezor.
      And yes you can add the BSC to your Trezor Metamask wallet here: academy.binance.com/en/articles/connecting-metamask-to-binance-smart-chain

      Hi there, that is a very good Q and it would completely depend on the protocol and coin/token. In most cases you would hand over your private keys to the crypto to that liquidity pool so that your crypto can be used for transactions etc and if there was a bug or it was exploited somehow or a rug pull etc you would still lose your crypto yes because you no longer own the keys (not your keys, not your crypto).
      In non-custodial staking the private keys SHOULD stay with you, which would mean yes they are safe and would need your Ledger or Trezor to transfer them out.

      Actually I think you have just answered my question in your pinned message. You suggest it's best to transfer the tokens. The eth gas fees will hurt for each transfer though! One other question. I've got some of the tokens locked up in staking contracts. I guess I need to wait for the lockup period to expire and then also move those tokens to the new Trezor account right? In this case, do you think it may in fact be worthwhile connecting the Trezor to the MM account I am already using?

      @@rufakhri7164 Hi Ru, thanks for the kind words, and sorry for the confusion . . . . . after I uploaded the video and watched it back I realised the fact I set up a new Metamask wallet on the video without fully explaining that this step isn't necessary if you already have one might confuse some people.
      No you don't need to set up a brand new Metamask wallet, it is absolutely fine to connect straight to the Metamask wallet you are currently using because once you transfer all the crypto out of this into the Trezor even if they have the seed phrase for the Metamask wallet they still can't access anything in your Trezor so it will be completely secure. And although you 'connect' your Trezor to the Metamask, is is only actually connected on your laptop and not externally so if anyone was to restore the seed phrase for your Metamask onto their own laptop your Trezor account won't even show up on their laptop (I tried it to be sure haha), so even if someone has completely hacked your Metamask, restores it to their laptop and wipes the whole account, it still wouldn't matter if we connected the Trezor to this as long as we don't transfer any crypto into it they can't get it. I hope that clears that up and gives you a bit of confidence.
      And yes what you said is exactly right, there isn't a lot you can do with your locked up crypto at the moment, just move everything else out (and pay the horrible gas fees), then as soon as you can unstake the locked up ones you can then transfer them into the new Trezor wallet to be fully secure too 🙂.

    • @LifeOptimise
      @LifeOptimise  2 года назад +1

      Hi Lucas, no problem, I'm glad you got value from it 😀.
      1- If you already have a Metamask wallet and you click 'connect hardware wallet' you won't need to set up a new one or get a new seed phrase. You will just keep the same 2 separate wallets. The Metamask just allows you to view and use your Trezor hardware wallet. So you will already have 1 seed phrase for your current Metamask wallet, and one for your Trezor wallet so yes both of these seed phrases will still be the same. I just show on the demo how someone can open a completely new Metamask wallet if they don't have one but if you already have them both, yes just connect them and keep the same seed phrases 👌(hope that makes sense?).
      2- No you can't unfortunately manage your BTC from Metamask. The BTC network isn't supported.
      3- I haven't personally used Ronin but I can't see why you wouldn't be able to use the same Trezor as long as these wallets are only acting like a gateway to view and manage what is stored on your Trezor the same as how the Metamask works, but the honest answer is I don't know for sure as I haven't done it so I don't want to give you incorrect info 🤐.

      Yes this is absolutely fine to do as long as you connect it exactly as I show in this video and you don't click on 'I already have a seed phrase' as this prompts you to then enter in your seed phrase which is NOT secure. So you just set up a brand new Metamask wallet (that you are NOT going to use) and then just connect the Trezor wallet as I show so that you never enter in the seed phrase 🙂, this then becomes your everyday secure wallet that you just use connected to Metamask.

      Hi there, this is a great Q and yes I believe you are 100% correct. Anything on the AVAX network will not show up in Trezor suite so if Metamask was to disappear you might be able to access these funds through another 3rd party wallet like brave wallet (because I'm pretty sure it is the exact same code as MM) or trust wallet or something like that? But to be honest I am not 100% sure about this I would need to do a bit more research but definitely something to think about. As Metamask is open source though I find it hard to believe they will not be around, and if something was to happen as the code is open source I'm sure another one would pop up pretty shortly after, and as I say I'm pretty sure Brave wallet already uses the exact same code so maybe give it a go? I will try to when I get some time, I've been meaning to move over to Brave browser I just haven't had time to dig into it all yet.

      Hi please just follow this video exactly. It sounds like you are thinking of importing the Metamask into Trezor this is the wrong way around, you need to connect your Trezor to Metamask and then only use the Trezor wallet and seed phrase. If you restore the Metamask into Trezor you need to type in the Metamask seed phrase which opens it up to the internet and as Metamasks are so easy to hack you don't know if someone has already hacked your seed phrase or will do in the future.

      Hi Anthony it's a great Q and one a lot of people don't think about or mention, so the crypto stays on the blockchain and technically doesn't get moved into our device no, it is our private keys that are contained within our Trezor device these are what prove the crypto on the block chain actually belongs to us, so without the keys (or if anyone else manages to get hold of these keys) we then lose the ability to prove that crypto is ours. But for ease of explaining this most people just say we store the crypto on our device when as you've pointed out this isn't necessarily true.
      And yes the crypto will always move up and down with the price wherever the private keys are held - as long as you have bought a genuine coin from a reputable exchange and not been cold called into setting up some random account on a dodgy exchange (I've had a few phone calls asking me to sign up to some BTC Code website that I know is fraudulent so stay vigilant and only buy from Binance, Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini).

      shop.trezor.io/product/cryptosteel?offer_id=23&aff_id=6033

If you don't use this just keep it safe on a piece of paper and hide it somewhere where nobody knows about it, don't take a picture of it or have it saved digitally on your pc, Dropbox, Google drive, notes etc as this is how people regularly get hacked. But if that piece of paper gets damaged from a leak, or fire etc it is lost so Crypto Steel really is the most secure way of storing it if you plan to invest a large amount of funds 🙂.

      @LifeOptimise  2 года назад +4

      Hi there thanks for your comment.
      it's more about what information is already linked to your signed in profile and what you use your signed in profile for? If you have other Chrome extensions attached to your signed in profile these can all see and connect to your Metamask wallet, and if you are using this signed in profile to use Google as a search engine every website and link you click on can also view and connect to your Metamask. So we want to use a separate profile with no identifying information and no Google searching etc so that websites don't even see we have a Metamask.
      A separate issue is It can also reveal your wallet is attached to you as a person which is called doxing. So if I am signed in as John Smith and an App or website views my Metamask wallet address and also sees I am signed in as John Smith it can then link that wallet and the balance, and every transaction to me as John Smith which isn't great as then if they see a large account balance you become target number 1 and they will send you more phishing emails, pop ups etc to try and catch you out. Because the block chain is so transparent it has its down sides because its like if someone finds out your bank details they can then look up your current account balance and see every transaction you have ever made and also then follow that account and see every transaction it makes in the future so we want to have as much distance and barriers between us and our crypto addresses as possible.
      I hope that helps? 🙂

      Hi Edna, thanks for the nice feedback 🥰.
      I think you have got a bit confused here and reading your comment I became confused myself too haha!
      We are not connecting a Metamask wallet to our Trezor, we are connecting our secure Trezor hardware wallet to the Metamask extension. So now Metamask just acts as a gateway into the Trezor, then we don't use any Metamask wallet at all (that's why I renamed it DO NOT USE).
      So it doesn't matter if we had account 1, 2 and 3 in Metamask before connecting our Trezor, once we connect our Trezor wallets (we can connect as many Trezor wallets as we want to) these are all we now use so move all funds out of the Metamask wallets into the Trezor ones and rename them all so you don't get confused.
      And no we now fund straight into our Trezor wallet. Imagine 'account 1' or 'DO NOT USE' as I have now called it is a piranha infested lake, if we dip even one toe into here (or $1) it gets ripped to shreds by a shoal of piranhas (or $$$ gets stolen by hackers), what we have now done with our Trezor is built a nice safe bridge to cross over the piranha lake into a beautiful crystal clear blue lake with boats, jet skis, windsurfers etc for us to play on without any risk of piranhas haha.

      Once you connect the Trezor to your Metamask like in the video above (no need to create a new Metamask, just create a new Trezor wallet within Trezor suite then connect the Trezor to Metamask), the Trezor wallet will then be on the Etherium Mainnet by default (this is the default network when Trezor is connected to Metamask) so all you need to do then is click the ‘send’ button and you will see an option to ‘transfer to one of your accounts’ you can then just transfer the crypto straight into your new Trezor wallet. You will need to pay a gas fee but it’s not too much if I remember correctly. Then that’s it your crypto is now safely stored in your new Trezor wallet 😊👌

    1. Can i use 1 trezor wallet to 2 different metamask(with different seedphrase)?

      1. Yes I can't see why you wouldn't be able to connect 1 Trezor to 2 Metamask accounts if you wanted to. Do you mean 2 different Metamask seed phrases or 2 Trezor seed phrases? Because you can only have 1 seed phrase on your Trezor, so as long as you mean 2 Metamask seed phrases then yes I believe this is possible.
      2, Yes you can disconnect, just click the 3 dots in the top right corner and 'remove account'.

      Hi thanks for the nice comment, this Q gets asked a lot and it totally depends on the project.
      I take it from your comment you can't move these funds to a different wallet? They are long term staked or a node or something similar? In which case you can set up the new Trezor wallet and just leave these in your old MM wallet that you will still have access to. You can move funds out of the old insecure wallet into the new secure wallet as they become available or become unstaked/air dropped etc.
      There is another method which I don't really recommend which you can read about here: ruclips.net/video/x5RBk3thpY4/видео.html
      Please read the full description first, it involves exposing your seed phrase and importing a possibly compromised Metamask wallet into a brand new secure Trezor hardware wallet so I would only do this if there were a lot of funds in this account that I was worried could become compromised in the future. But if there are only a small amount of funds I would just go ahead and set up a brand new secure Trezor account within Trezor with no risk of exposing the seed phrase.

      Hi there,
      You can't connect multiple devices to a single Metamask on one laptop/pc but you can tick multiple accounts within the same device when you are connecting the device to your laptop/pc.
      One way around this would be to use another device but on a different laptop (I'm pretty sure this would work but haven't checked it), So I could have the same Metamask account on 2 different laptops. On laptop 1 I have Trezor 1 connected to Metamask 1, on laptop 2 I have Trezor 2 connected to Metamask 1, I'm pretty sure this would work because the Trezor connection is only a local connection on your computer, if you load up your Metamask account on a different computer the Trezor account doesn't show up.
      I am not sure about the different compartments, it would be worth checking this or asking Trezor support.

I can only use a USB to connect my Trezor to my desktop as the Trezor has a female connection piece on it, what do you suggest? 4. I have 2 MM wallets, both have the same token and I don’t want to dca the two tokens together when sending them to my Trezor, any thoughts? Hi there, sorry for the late reply, this is a long one and I haven't had the time to reply . . ok let's see:
      1, Everything that is supported on Metamask is still supported on a Trezor linked to Metamask even if it is not supported on Trezor Suite directly if that makes sense as you are using Metamask as the wallet but using Trezor hardware as the security.
      2, Yes that is correct, airdrops will still be sent to your old Metamask address then you will need to send to your new Trezor address and pay gas fees etc unfortunately.
      3, Using the USB cable that came with the Trezor is fine, is this what you mean? I meant you shouldn't use cheap usb converters or multi docks etc bought off Ebay or Amazon from random sellers as you have no idea what they are reading or sending etc.
      4, Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by this point? Dollar Cost Average them together?
      5, Yes it just shows up like a second or third account in your Metamask. You just make sure your Trezor Account is selected and open when you connect to the DEX and it should select this one as the account.
      I hope that clears most points up? Any more just let me know 😆

      Hi thanks for the nice feedback.
      I just used Account 2 as I had some funds in account 1 and didn’t want to reveal any details of my holdings.
      You can use any account and I use lots of separate accounts for different things.
      If you already have some crypto in account 1 through Trezor suite you might want to connect this account to Metamask to be able to send or stake this crypto somewhere. Or maybe you have a lot of crypto in this account and maybe you don’t want to connect this to anything and keep it as secure as possible offline.
      If I am staking on a brand new platform that hasn’t been running for very long like some of the brand new DAOs and I don’t really trust it I would connect to a fresh wallet address like account 3 or 4 and only use this wallet to connect to some dodgy sites so I don’t risk losing my whole portfolio.
      Then I might use another account to hold most of my long term hodl portfolio, and another one to use for every day trades etc it’s a much safer way to structure your portfolio so you are not risking losing your whole portfolio to one bad investment.
      Just be aware ALL of these different wallets are all linked to the SAME Trezor seed phrase though so always ensure this is hidden and NOBODY knows where or what it is (even our trustworthy granny) 😊👌 otherwise it doesn’t matter how you structure all the different wallets they can still access everything anyway.
      I hope this helps 😊👌

      That is why it is SO important we keep our seed phrase secure, because this is the ONLY way we can get back into our crypto if we ever lose our Trezor device or it gets damaged or stolen.
      But this also opens up a vulnerability because it doesn't just let us in, it lets ANYONE who finds it in too. So if someone finds your seed phrase they can just type it into Metamask, restore your wallet onto their computer and transfer all your crypto to one of their wallets.
      So don't tell ANYONE your seed phrase or where it is stored, and keep it safe and secure from fire and water damage too.

      Hi Mookie,
      NOOOOOOOOO you should never type in your Trezor seed phrase unless it is an emergency like you have lost your Trezor, forgot your password or can’t access it any other way.
      You could type in your Metamask seed phrase if you are using it just as an empty dummy wallet as it really doesn’t matter if anybody finds out this seed phrase and then just connect your Trezor wallet to it (like I show towards the end of the demo). There is no need to type your Trezor seed phrase in to connect it to Metamask, and you should only do it if you have been locked out of your account and have no other way to access your crypto, as once you type your seed phrase in you should then transfer all your crypto out of it into a new safe wallet as this seed phrase has now been compromised and a hacker could now know it if you have a virus, spyware or key logging software etc installed on your laptop which are scarily more common than you would think.

    So I can't transfer them to my Hardware wallet right?? Because they are locked on that specific MM wallet.... what do I need to do??

    • @LifeOptimise
      @LifeOptimise  2 года назад +2

      Hi yes that is correct, you can't normally move them if they are staked to that wallet so I would just move everything else and wait until you can unstake and then move them over down the line.
      This video has just been brought to my attention that is an option if you really want or need to move them: ruclips.net/video/x5RBk3thpY4/видео.html
      There are lots of things about this I don't like though:
      1, Like the fact your seed phrase could already have been compromised so you are then moving a compromised wallet into your secure Trezor (which means it is no longer secure).
      2, You also need to expose your seed phrase to then move it into your Trezor which could mean you getting hacked at that point.
      3, If you are using a Trezor model one you would need to actually type in your seed phrase onto your computer which means if you had key logging software on your computer you could then be handing over your seed phrase. Trezor does do some clever tactics to avoid this like it asks you to type in your seed phrase in a random order which protects you and if you have a 12 word seed phrase and use 'advanced recovery' it asks you to type in random phrases in between your real ones to confuse hackers even further so there is a level or protection in place but I would still avoid doing this whole process unless absolutely necessary. The Trezor model T is much more secure as you physically type the seed phrase on the device and not on the computer which means even key logging software would not compromise the seed phrase.

      Hi Sunny, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
      All of Metamask's code is open source which gives us a good level of confidence (not that I can read any of the code or understand any of it haha but I'm sure other coders have).
      It is also encrypted in your browser, and I've read Metamask don't store any of our wallet info on their own servers or have any access to it (which should hopefully be confirmed via the open source code). So it all sounds pretty secure to me, and with Trezor connected adds a lot more security too.
      I've not heard of any large scale hacks happening via Metamask either which many exchanges have now been subject to over the last few years which again adds more confidence.
      I always like to spread my portfolio across multiple wallets, exchanges and accounts though just as an extra level of security so I would never hold my whole portfolio in just one wallet, exchange or account. Losing 50 or 25% of a portfolio is much less catastrophic than 100%.

      If it is a large amount you have staked you might want to consider unstaking some of it and moving it to the more secure Trezor so you only leave some of it exposed to the risk of being hacked but that is a personal choice you need to weigh up.

      Hi there, yes if you lose the original Metamask seed phrase it is no problem at all just create a new one exactly as I do in this video and simply re-link to your Trezor again. The crypto private keys are still stored only in your Trezor you just access them through Metamask.
      There is a bit of confusion about what is actually happening when you connect your Trezor, it isn't like a hard cloud connection or anything it is just a local connection on your computer so if you were to restore that Metamsk account to a different laptop your Trezor hardware wallet wouldn't show up on the new computer, you would have to connect it again. Think of it just like plugged a USB drive into your computer, it isn't linking it to your Metamask account you are just accessing it through your Metamask on your own computer.

    1 - if i have lets say 20 or 30 wallets on ledger with one seed phrase, and i want to migrate to trezor , would it support all 30 wallets for instacne ? or it has restrictions on number of erc20 wallets you can create with 1 seed phrase?
    2- When interacting with metamask , you need to allow metamask to be able to use trezor as you show in video! But if you hit > DO NOT ASK AGAIN < would it need to be applied each time you let's say restart your computer , or close and open the browser chrome ? or that will be remembered in the chrome ? And would i need to allow it for each website i use metamask+trezor or that is an general thing that you can disable permanently?

      Hi thanks for the Q.
      I am not sure there is any limit on wallets within one seed phrase I have not read or seen anything about that but probably best to double check with Trezor support directly just to be sure.
      And if I am understanding your Q right once you add Trezor to your Metamask it would show up every time you open up that Google chrome browser yes you wouldn’t need to keep re-adding it. It acts just like any other Chrome extension and every website can see and interact with this Chrome extension so for that reason it is better to create a completely separate Chrome extension that you only use for crypto related activities so that websites can’t see your Metamask wallets.

      Hi thanks for the Q,
      1, Yes if you get a new laptop you would access your Trezor exactly the same way as I show in this video (not using the seed phrase)
      2, And yes exactly if you break or lose your Trezor you would then need to recover your assets using your seed phrase but this would then expose your seed phrase to a hacker so you would quickly then need to transfer it to another secure cold wallet like another Trezor.
      3, Yes you can use Polygon on your Trezor connected to Metamask and all other networks that Metamask can connect to. It depends which Defi you are talking about but you can access most yes? You can access all Defi and networks on the Trezor connected to Metamask as you can via just Metamask.

      No don't worry the way you have done it is absolutely fine. You only need to have your Trezor plugged in to send crypto anywhere (which is how it secures your account because now a hacker would need to have your Trezor device to be able to confirm any transactions).
      So you can view your balances and receive crypto into your Trezor wallet without plugging it in, it is only to send that we need to plug it in and confirm the transactions on our device and Metamask will prompt you if you forget to plug it in 😊.

So they're all in the same hard wallet but in separate addresses or "soft" sub-wallet, if you will. @@carlynesaintroc4709 Ah you might be thinking because they are on different networks?
      No different coins on the same network can definitely be stored in the same wallet, even coins on different networks can be stored in the same wallet because Trezor can operate all the different networks (as long as they are supported) within the same wallet address. You just need to add the network to your Trezor wallet. So I have the standard ETH, but also BSC and AVAX networks on my Trezor all using the same wallet address :).
      There are pros and cons to using one wallet address though such as if you got hacked somehow by maybe connecting to a dodgy site or something then having everything in one wallet address would mean they could hack everything, so I do split my portfolio up into a HODL (long hold) wallet that I don't connect to ANY sites to stake or anything, then another wallet I connect to Apps and sites I trust to get some returns then another wallet to connect to brand new sites I don't know or trust so that if they do end up rogue and wipe my account I've only lost a small amount, that is the only reason I would suggest using different wallets is to split up your portfolio into different tiers or risk levels to add a level of safety :).

Q1 When I now use the connected Trezor account via the MM extension is that Trezor now using the MM seed phrase or am i now interacting with my trezor seed phrase ? Q2 Will I be required to interact with my Trezor to sign transactions ? Cheers

    • @LifeOptimise
      @LifeOptimise  2 года назад +1

      Hi thanks for subscribing and the great Q. I’m just going to double check this in a couple of hours to be 1000% sure as I was actually thinking this myself yesterday. I’m 95% certain you will then be interacting with your Trezor seed phrase at that point. So even if your MM wallet has been compromised it won’t matter as long as you have transferred all crypto out and are now using it only as dummy wallet, but as I say within the next few hours I will be able to tell you with 100% certainty.
      And Q2 is a definite yes! Once your Trezor is connected you can view your account balances without plugging the Trezor in but to do any transactions you will then need to plug in your Trezor and type in the password before you can transfer any crypto which is how this becomes so powerful so even if you become hacked they can’t transfer your crypto anywhere 🤩😎.
      I’ll get back to you in the next hour or 2 with a 100% answer to Q1 😊👍.

    • @LifeOptimise
      @LifeOptimise  2 года назад +3

      Hi again,
      Ok I just wanted to double check that fact 1000% to be sure I wasn’t giving you terrible information and what I have done to check is restored the dummy Metamask wallet (that had a Trezor hardware wallet connected to it) to another computer to see if it also brought across the Trezor wallet or just the dummy Metamask wallet and the good news is it only brought across the dummy Metamask wallet so that tells me 100% that if this Metamask wallet seed phrase is compromised nobody would be able to restore your Trezor hardware wallet using the Metamask seed phrase which is what I suspected and I’m sure I have done this before too but always good to confirm.
      So just to round up, once you connect the Trezor hardware wallet this will still have its own separate seed phrase completely separate from Metamask so the Metamask wallet just becomes a dummy wallet that basically has nothing to do with your Trezor wallet it just allows the gateway or interface connection between your Trezor wallet and the Metamask extension without you needing to expose your Trezor seed phrase 😊👍.
      So once connected, transfer all crypto out of the Metamask and you are completely safe, and even if the Metamask seed phrase gets into the wrong hands you can be sure nobody has access to your Trezor 😎.
      Hope this helps, and thanks again for your great Q 👌.

      @@cryptomomsh466 Hi ah no sorry to hear this. So once your Metamask wallet has been compromised we need to make a completely new wallet. The chances are they now have your seed phrase so it doesn’t matter what you do with this address now the seed phrase overrules any Trazor or other security device it’s the secret key that unlocks EVERY other security device.
      What I suggest you do is exactly what I show in this video. You need to start by setting up a brand new Metamask wallet, then set up a brand new Trezor wallet and connect the Trezor wallet to the new Metamask. You should never type the Trezor seed phrase in so be careful to connect the Trezor exactly how I show in this video then you will be fully secure. Then you don’t use the new or old Metamask wallet at all, you ONLY use the Trezor wallet that is now connected to the Metamask wallet. Then if you have any funds in the compromised Metamask wallet (it doesn’t sound like you do) you can transfer these into the new Trezor wallet.
      I hope this helps? What you have described above is the exact reason I made this video. There are some large channels on YT actually telling people to set up their Trezor as you have done and this is WRONG 😩😪, and lots of people will get hacked because they are restoring compromised Metamask wallets into their Trezor thinking they are secure but sadly it isn’t. Please note that the 1500+ supported ERC20 Tokens on ETH network are discovered automatically upon enabling ETH. Custom tokens can be added manually directly in Accounts › ETH › Tokens.'

      @@LifeOptimise I did try diconnecting and reconnecting my trezor. I believe that i am running latest firmware on my computer. I’ve already went to my suite and added my crypto coin on the ETH tab, for that specific token and my balance shows that it’s at zero. Even though it shows my balance on my metamask-hardwallet account, it doesnt show it on my hardwallet suite. Thank you for the response.

      @@kevinoman2173 Hm sorry to hear that mate, that definitely doesn't sound right. I would contact both Metamask and Trezor and show them some screenshots and see what they say. Obviously neither of them should ask for your seed phrase so don't give that out to ANYONE. Contacting bogus support teams is how I hear a lot of people getting hacked so just be careful! 👌

    Great stuff mate...much appreciated. I used this to grab some PulseX via my trezor. does this mean that i need to repeat this process after i shut down that browser. eg. open new chrome browser (dont sign in) and then open new metamask account again (no recovery phrase etc)? it doesnt matter wot account i have/ start with eh....as metamask is just allowing access to my trezor. my account is on trezor ......? ta :-)

    • @LifeOptimise

      Yes I just leave the tab open on a separate profile with just my Metamask on there and lock the Metamask when not in use. As long as your Trezor is unplugged and the Metamask is locked nobody can do anything with it.
      If you close the browser or go on a different computer etc you can either make a new Metamask wallet or just restore the dummy Metamask wallet using the seed phrase (not the Trezor wallet). It doesn’t matter if you restore the Metamask wallet using the seed phrase because that is not where our crypto is contained, our crypto is within the Trezor wallet that we then connect to the Metamask so even if someone hacks our Metamask wallet or has the seed phrase it really doesn’t matter because we don’t use that wallet or seed phrase at all. Hope this makes sense? 😊

      hello! just me again. thanks for your help. um - so I can lock MM and then remove my trezor right? to access it again..plug trezor back in & unlock correct? i hear some folks click on extensions (on RHS of browser window) and then click on the 3 dots next to MM and then click MM to 'off'. thoughts on that? cheers. ro :-)

      @@MrRoFella if you have a separate Chrome/Firefox browser profile just for Metamask and you don't do any other browsing in this browser it is fine to just lock Metamask and unplug yes. If you are using Metamask on your normal everyday browser searching on Google and using social media etc (which I would not advise) turning the extension off in the settings would protect you a bit more but websites might still be able to see you have Metamask so using a separate browser is much more secure.
      And yes this is normal and absolutely fine for your Trezor to still show up when unplugged, you can only view balances. To do any transfers, connect to apps or import tokens etc you would need to plug your Trezor back in and confirm so it is still secure 🙂.

    after i have connected MM to trezor and has transferred the coins to trezor, does it mean i am safe even if the MM account is hacked? since there are no longer any coins in MM but the coins are already in trezor ?

    • @LifeOptimise
      @LifeOptimise  2 года назад

      Yes that is exactly right 😊👌. Even if your Metamask wallet gets hacked now you are completely safe AS LONG as your Trezor seed phrase is completely secure.
      Remember the seed phrase is like a secret back door that allows anyone in and opens up your crypto safe to them. So if you have taken a picture of your Trezor seed phrase or saved it online or have it stored on your laptop somewhere somebody can access this and steal your crypto so as long as you wrote this down and hid it safely away where nobody has seen it or knows where it is then you are 99.999% secure my friend 😊👌.

      @@LifeOptimise hi about that seed phrase of trezor , what if you already use it when setup metamask wallet?

    • @LifeOptimise
      @LifeOptimise  Год назад

      @@dejviddejvich573 Ah now it makes sense why you can't use account 1, your Metamask has already been set up using account 1 when you first created the account using your seed phrase? So Metamask is now using your Trezor seed phrase, this isn't secure at all and how I said in my video not to do it.
      A seed phrase is only to be used in an emergency, as soon as you type in your seed phrase you should always then move the funds out of that wallet into another secure wallet because just typing your seed phrase in could have revealed it to someone, or malware, key logging software or a hacker etc.
      I would either buy a new Trezor and set it up again without typing your seed phrase in and then connect it to Metamask as I show in this video (without typing in the seed phrase) or if you don't have much funds in there or don't want to buy a new Trezor you can move the funds into another holding wallet temporarily, wipe the Trezor clean then start it again with the restored Trezor but this is a bit risky as if your wallet has been targeted it could get hacked in the time it takes to do the transfers and Trezor restore. It depends how much funds you have and how much risk you are happy with?

      No key string? I'm not sure what this means no sorry. Is your Trezor hardware fully updated? It sounds like the key phrase, maybe you haven't set up your Trezor properly out of the box? Check out my other video here on how to do this: ruclips.net/video/aJ31wOIGO0A/видео.html
