We are so happy to see our handmade ceramics in this NEVER TOO SMALL! We are a small ceramics brand in Portugal whose pieces are made by people that are or used to be incarcerated. We believe that fair labor and empowerment are key for the (re)integration of the prison community. Thank you for believing in second chances!
The before pictures really show the work that has been put into this. From a bleak, depressing apartment where dreams go to die to a beautiful, airy and dreamy space!
Wow, I love what the architects have achieved in such a small difficult space. The hidden storage is abundant throughout the apartment and I’d love to lay in bed and watch a lightning storm
What a joy and honour to film and work with @nevertoosmall on this Lisbon apartment video! Thank you for choosing me as your videographer here. It was also great to work with KEMA architects. Super thrilled that Lisbon is featured in this amazing channel. Love this city. 💛 Keep up the amazing work on this channel!
They have done an amazing job despite the challenge of working with so many wall and ceiling angles. I especially love the integrated storage wall in the living room and being able to have part of the kitchen hidden away definitely streamlines the room and makes it appear more spacious.
Lindo!! This made me cry, as a fan of the channel never ever i thought i would ever seen an apartment from Lisbon in here. So proud! Such a beautiful city, with so much culture. They did an amazing work, i hope more people in Portugal can be inspired by this video. Obrigado ❤️
"this made me cry" lol a mim o que me faz chorar são os valores das rendas em Lisboa... Viver num micro-apartamento é muito lindo para o youtube mas na maior parte dos casos não são desenhados por profissionais como este, são degradados, escuros, húmidos e sem condições nenhumas de habitabilidade... Enfim. Gosto de ver a criatividade demonstrada no vídeo mas meter pessoas a viver em caixas de sapatos fixes não é lá muito inspirador na minha opinião. Não deixam de ser caixas de sapatos.
Heavenly!!! All that storage, without feeling cluttered, while also adding beautiful visual touches like the tiles behind the couch. Absolutely stunning.
Liked it a lot. I'd preffer an open L shaped kitchen instead of that half hidden one, but appart from that, everything they've done with such a small and difficult space is amazing. It seems much bigger that it is.
The best usage of mirrors to give the illusion of a large space i've seen. It fooled me into thinking there's a space there instead of a mirror, multiple times. I think it's because they are put in the right positions and they're edge to edge with no borders
I got the same feeling, which made me watch it again. A big part of the reason it feels so convincing in making you feel like "there's a space there instead of a mirror" is camera / editing trickery (not seeing the person with the camera in the reflection). I wonder how well the "illusion" works in person.
Random, but I’ve had skylights like that before and they’re absolutely useless for enjoying rain lol. The rain just floods over the window, making it impossible to see out. Like a windshield without wipers. Normal windows are way better for enjoying a storm.
I'd lay claim to that sofa right away❤... The office space is so neat ☺️. With so many skylights it won't make anyone feel claustrophobic. All in all, it seems like a doll house and perfect for little me😊!
This is a stunning transformation in my view and one of my favourite apartment renovations featured here. The Architects have taken full advantage of the space, the view, incoming light and internal reflection of light. A wonderful use of space using thoughtful, crisp design elements. And what a beautiful part of the world. I Love everything about it!
Having lived in a 1935 farmhouse with an attic second floor, I feel the pain of those angled walls. They did an excellent job of using the few tall spaces (shower!) and putting built in cabinets into those 'bang your head' awkward spaces.
The amount of hidden storage is amazing, and so perfectly integrated in every corner - I love it! Overall airy design and modern lines are inspiring, IMO one of the nicest apartments featured on this channel.
An attic space is a challenging space to live in. Skylights add lots of light and ventilation, but they don’t take the place of normal, wall-mounted windows for looking out and for fighting claustrophobia. Having at least a few regular wall-mounted windows through which the resident can easily look outside is vital.
Very exciting re-dedign of an awkward space. They have ticked all the boxes and with grest effectiveness. I particularly love the 'storage-activity wall'! Brilliantly conceived. Congrats to the architects. Wishing them continued success. Thank you for the video. All the best with the new app. G Ire
The light! The best accomplishment of this space is the sea of light. The storage is massive for such a small space. Knowing how hot it can be in Lisbon a small bedroom can become an oven. Cross ventilation is comfort as such and is provided maximum. It is lovely and tastefully done.
@@l.a.3479 It's an old forgotten industrial place. If you use the water cooker and the toaster at the same time the fuse will flip, an AC isn't an option.
When you have an angled roof it is tricky. Very. They have done a great job. And mirrors do the magic, every single time. Thank you. :) (The Eames lounge chair is a big bonus! I can not live without it).
Nicely done! As a former resident of Lisbon, having sufficient natural light at home is such a nice benefit. If I could change one thing it would be either the color or the material used for the storage space in the living room and kitchen areas, as it gives the appearance of cardboard when all the doors are shut.
I love that they took advantage of the skylights to give the space a feeling that it's larger than it actually is. Having a low ceiling matters much less when there's always a widow with a nice view.
Everything looks perfect, the colors are very cozy despite the design being rather minimalistic and there's even a desktop! (even though I would place a bigger one perpendicular with the natural light source instead of in front of it) I liked everything besides the bed, I noticed I was bowing my head inconciously when I saw the low ceiling 🤣
I like the way it takes advantage of the space, I think it's a good idea to put built-in furniture, plus the lighting strategy with its sloping deck is incredible
What an unbelievable transformation! The architects are magicians to be able to convert such an odd shaped space into a very pleasant and functional space!
I think this is an excellent example of an adaptation of a small space into modern useful and pleasant apartment. Making use of all sorts of nooks for additional storage is an additional plus! Glad to see they have thought of black-out screens on the windows.
Brilliant use of space and light and hidden storage - which is so practical! A simple and elegant but sensible! One idea I had is the space near the kitchen - with the window ...instead of a trolley with plants (which the scale is off - needs to be bigger IMHO) instead have a hanging herb garden! Love this creative work!!!
It’s not very often I found a modern project cozy, but this one made me want to live there. Funnily enough, it has always been a dream of mine to have huge skylights above the bed, so I could see, and hear, the rain right close at me…
So many cool solutions and ideas! The only thing i do not like personally is the brown wood cabinet/sofa nook solution in the living room. Other than that all the other solutions, the pull out wardrobe, the bed nook, the bathroom, the over all look and feel of the flat, the white, are all amazing. Totally remind me of Lisbon.
Love the light and serenity of the design. It's probably a good a solution to the space as possible -- personally I kept getting nervous people would crack their heads on the sloping beams or knock their head on a window while washing dishes, etc.
The tiles in the living room nook 4:15, the brick tiles, would have been a perfect opportunity to use the Lisbon white+blue azulejos hand painted tiles.
This was such an awkward apartment to work with, with the low, angled ceiling making the already small space feel even smaller. But the architects were able to make it work very elegantly by bringing out the charm of the attic with the unique cupboards and skylights. Bravo!
Very interesting apt. The skylights are awesome! The beams that slope into the apt, not so awesome! I could feel myself banging my head multiple times in that space! LOL! I do like the hidden kitchen and all the storage.
Pretty, but I am absolutely certain that it'll be a greenhouse during the (long and very warm) Lisbon summer. I wouldn't be able to sleep in that bed, it feels like a tomb. I also wonder how would someone make the bed or change sheets and how would anyone feel comfortable in this bathroom (how would they sit on that toilet seat without banging their head on the skylight, for example?). For sure the architects did the best they could given difficulty of the space, so kudos for that!
Per a reply to another comment, the channel says it is well insulated. I've showered in a coffin sized stall. It's impossible to shave one's legs, but other than that it works. Anyone taller than average would not be able to wash dishes (unless the skylight is fully open).
The shower is 115 per 80 cm (it uses the space behind the vanity) and actually it has even a built-in bench. The height in the front of kitchen sink where person stands is 1,85m to 2.00m high. It´s actually very comfortable. The roof window provides this extra hight.
Congratulations on the excellent channel NEVER TOO SMALL. I am very proud of the restructuring of the house being today in my city/country... Lisbon/Portugal. Good continuation!
Really loved this one, congratulations to both of the architects! Although I couldn’t help but thinking about the heat and how it’s been managed. Would have liked to have some highlights about that.
Well done, love the skylight above the bed, looks dreamy although I don't think I can live in low ceiling apartments. The only thing I would adjust is replace the small window in the sofa with a full niche window.
Amazing! One of the best I've seen. Here's my pros & cons. Cons: # The cupboard doors don't fully submerge into the unit. This will make moving around in the kitchen difficult. # The desk space is a little too small to do any actual work. # the bed look really cramped. I would change the positioning for easier access. # The shower looks a little small. I would increase the size and reposition the vanity or decrease the size. Pros: Love the built in storage unit. Yeeess I thought about that too!! It would be such a great way to fall asleep :)
Breathtaking lines and diffusion of light. The space is almost sculptural but not pretentious. I could rewatch this all day 😍
I love the recessed sofa, integrated storage and partly hidden kitchen. Light and lines and airiness in such a limited space is lovely.

I didn't know I needed a skylight over my bed until now. *Mindblown*
Flat has been well done, but it feels like it was renovated with airbnb in mind, especially with only a kitchenette and that sofa
Unfortunately that is the trend in most cities. Then creates empty centers and problems to find decent rents for young people.
Agree. Most of these apartments do not have that 'lived in' look about them despite them being nice though.
Because that's what they do. I hate them.
There's a full bedroom.
The layout is great, the storage wall looks beautiful and very functional. And all the windows make this apartment so sunny! Polish girls rocks!

The ottoman & the way its placed elevates the entire feel of the space to another level
Not really
I remember this one! that fantastic gable, with its seat, and the best piece of wall art I have ever seen...
Very attractive and light-filled apartment. Sofa looks very uncomfortable though, especially as the window opens inwards.

# Good sized bathroom.
# lighting is amazing, excellent use of window, light and mirror opportunities.
# excellent use of awkward spaces, such as under angled roofs or above the stairs.
