I own a G8 GT, ford's nemesis, and I have to say, ford did it right with this 5.0. It's one beast of a car
Great review. Like your style. Felt relaxed while watching. Great job.
Thanks for the kind words!
Manual better than Automatic? Real men drive whatever the fuck they want. I own both, I've learned to drive using manuals and I've been driving manual far longer than when i started to drive automatics, I prefer automatics on my daily drives now.
yea I want a auto GT for a daily and then get a manual for a weekend car
+koushinproductions: my woman prefers an automatic as well.
blasphemy
you are a honest man. driving automatic is very convenient
Finally a review that tells me highway gas mileage. Thanks man!
etravix Glad to oblige! =) Keep in mind that's with the optional adaptive cruise control set to 68 MPH (state limit here is 65), with minimal lane changes.
Let me jump I'm on this. I have had this car (manual) for a month now, and I average 10-12MPG per tank. No way you can keep off the throttle and get these fuel numbers. I drive like a friggnin maniac.
Hahaha hell yeah! We buy V8's to hear and experience the v8, not to just let it be there and go to waste.
eazyd34 Heck yeah, YMMV! :) If I drove like that, with the way that law enforcement is around here, I'd lose my license …
+MPGomatic THE Challenger V8 has a 4 cylinder mode, reducing engine size to 3.0 liter, so it actually saves more fuel versus cars that don't have this. I'd like to see you drive that car for hypermileage
.
electrictroy2010 The Corvette has cylinder deactivation, as well. I think I ran that test …
Ken R C7 = Flat Out Awesome. I had one for a week last year, around this time. ruclips.net/video/bDu22wJpDEk/видео.html It was heartbreaking to give it up.
Nice review Dan! Ford did a great job on the new Mustang.
TY, maxxtruck9906!
+MPGomatic THE MPG with the V8 engine is not that much worse than the tiny I4's MPG. In your test with air conditioning on, only 3 mpg worse. With the EPA test it was 6 mpg difference. It's amazing how efficient that V8 is
.
Of course if I truly want to save money? I'd choose the V6 version, since it's about $2000 cheaper than the other engines! Three cheers for saving money immediately
.
Great car, great review.
Thanks Dan!
Awesome to see a review from ya Dan!! Havent in ages!
Many thanks, Septimius13! I've been doing all of my reviews for the Autobytel channel. The Mustang GT was going to run there, but they did covered the car out in California. When that happened, I decided to shoot some extra footage and run it here in my channel as a MPGomatic review.
30mpg on the highway....I'm impressed!
+Chris Landrum HE got 40mpg in the Ecoboost Mustang
.
+electrictroy2010 not quite. I believe it was between 34-37 depending on conditions.
Yeah, I will definitely take the 5.0!
nice bro
But not in yellow D: ?! Haha I actually think the yellow is one of the best colors for the new Mustangs. But yeah, might not be worth those tickets ;P. Cool review!
Awesome how you talked about the back seats, which a lot of reviews miss. Could you link me too the 0-60 test or put it in the description? Long videos are great, but it'd be awesome to get links for when you just want to see a certain piece, like a table of contents.
Thanks, bench175 … that's a great idea. Done! 0-60 MPH clip at 18:09
I like the commentary.
Perfect review compared to others
I’ve done 4.7 0-60 in my 2015 automatic GT premium, all it has is a drop in filter and muffler delete. No tune. When I first got it, I did a 4.9 0-60
Wow... im Grateful for the Autobahn here in Germany, that V8 seems terribly bored at those low speeds^^
Did those switches come from Mini Cooper
NICE STANG MAN!!! I want the EcoBoost!
+Jeremy Good Yeah go for it I go 0-60 in 5 sec flat in my 16 mustang ecoboost.
Man, I hear the wheel hop in every video of this gt. I am going to have get that fixed with a kit as soon as I get the car.
TheBlackWaltz Steeda IRS bushing support kit, less than an hour to do, no permanent changes and costs less than $150. No more wheel hop
All these people do reviews on mustang but no one specifies what gears the car has.
people need to stop saying this is the first time theres been an independant rear suspension. the 03-04 cobra did it first. if youre gonna say the 15 mustang is the first then BE SPECIFIC its the first time its been offered on all trims of the 15 mustang.
***** Yeah but the big difference is that the IRS on the 99-04 cobra wasnt that great because it wasnt designed for the car. They modified the already existing IRS from the thunderbird so it would work on the cobra. The 15 is an all new platform designed with IRS from the beginning. Performance wise the 15 IRS is amazing because the rear suspension was designed around it, and it drives like a modern performance car, where as the 03/04 cobra was more like someone took out the regular mustang suspension and retrofitted IRS from a different car in there, and it just didnt have that balance that it should have had. Yeah the 99-04 was the first but I would say the mustang with the first properly functioning IRS is the 15
How does the handling stack up to the 370z? Also is this fun to drive?
+370Z_Expert 370z is one of the cars I haven't driven yet. I need to fix that, ASAP! The Mustang GT fun to drive? If you dig muscle cars, heck yeah. =)
+MPGomatic I dig all kinds of cars as long as they have character, handle well, and have decent power. The 370Z is definitely a fun experience. I love the handling and have an exhaust system that makes the VQ engine sing!
Cool!
Hello, Mr. Daniel,
I really appreciate your effort and reviews. That said, I would really appreciate if you could increase the sound volume of your content just a little bit. Take Motor Trend or Motor Week for example. Now, however, your volume is slightly below average (others). Why is it so? Therefore I kindly encourage you to consider this suggestion.
Best regards,
Many thanks for your kind words of support and valued feedback JZZ! It's an honor to be compared to Motor Trend and Motor Week. They have real production crews and resources. I run solo, for the most part, with zero budget. When I find a few extra bucks, I will invest in a new microphone or two. :)
MPGomatic What program do you use to edit the videos Dan? I use Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 and that provides several ways to adjust the volume with master, track, and normalize options. Just curious but I hope I could help because I really enjoy the videos.
Zeal S I've been using Final Cut Pro for a while. (Started out with Final Cut Express.) One of the issues is that I can use as many as four different cameras on each video. It's way too complicated. =) I've been using a Tascam audio recorder with a cardioid lav mic of late and it's helped a lot, particularly with in-car audio. But it's a low end recorder/mic combo. I did not use that combo on the highway run (relying on the internal mics in my small Panasonic camera, but the worst stuff is with the internal mic on the ContourHD cam).
I use an AT 2020 USB for voiceovers, great quality there, but again, another variable. I plan to upgrade to a better cardioid lav mic/recorder (and use it consistently) once funds permit.
I have never used the Final Cut products but yeah managing multiple mics will be a juggle. I do have the Audio Technica AT2020 USB and it is excellent for it's price point. It is my go to daily driver and if I can get away with it I might rig it to a shock mount with a Raspberry Pi setup to be powered by the 12v outlet or a battery but that maybe just an excuse to mod something unnecessary. Anyway good luck with the funds!
My ride will do a 10 sec 1/4 mile at 150 mph and gets 38 mpg on the hwy. but it only has two wheels 2012 kawasaki zx14r
+Dar Tice SO your ride has no steel body to protect you when some clueless driver hits you (as happened to me twice last year). I prefer the car to take the damage rather than my body
.
I knew that corkscrew looks familiar rt 29 right off 295 lol.
Buddyroe93 Yep!
The idea of Recaro seats is slick but the reality is not so good.
In fact, the stock GT bucket are remarkable well designed and have extremely generous lateral support to keep you planted in your seat. Opting for the Recaros cost you about $1550. For that tidy sum, you lose full electric seats, you lose A/C and heat seats, you lose seat memory, you lose ALL height adjustment on the passenger seat. A big guy like you really needs cooled seats in the summer. But now you do not have the option.
Very nice stang. Enjoy it!
+John Adams Excellent points, indeed! This isn't my car, it's a Ford press loaner. I subsequently drove a GT with the stock buckets and you are spot on. I preferred them over the Recaros. =)
I have a 2005 GT Convertible Manuel and it was converted to Right Hand Drive back in 2007 here in the UK.I have had many American Cars but to be honest you get fed up with the wheel on the Left side. But I am about to test a 2016 GT(for 2017 model) which is the only one in my opinion to own although our gas is running at around $12-13 a UK gallon ...Ouch!!!! it can hurt.To be honest highway driving in my 2005 gets around 26 mpg (UK) But its all about the Engine note and the styling Not the MPG.When we took it to Europe in 2007 People would flock around the car at the filling stations with such admiration but not knowing what the car was ,Aston Martin,Jaguar then I told them Mustang WOW they couldn't believe it ,now there are a lot more around and we have a band of people IN THE UK who love these cars and now the new Mustang in RHD THEY ARE SELLING AT A PREMIUM PRICE as it has a 12 months waiting list but the wait will be worth it .Great review not sure if I am for the Stick or Auto as the years and left leg is depending on the clutch pressure.
Both of my seats are powered for all adjustments.
I was so close of getting a yellow 2015 Mustang, but stuck with the black.
30.4 MPG is near the 32 MPG EPA rating of the 2.3L EcoBoost!!!
2005 intro 2015 video quality?
30mpg driving like you are in a coma! Still impressed, in real world we should get 27mpg on the highway.
MPGomatic nothing about the cruising speed man. It's lack or realistic acceleration to that cruising speed.
You drive like my gramma!
+tigerbalm Is your Gramma the Little Old Lady from Pasadena? 👍 'Cause I mash the pedal of every car I drive. Surely you've watched my 0-60 MPH clips, over 150 of them … =)
who buys a mustang gt to drive it like that!!!!
+MrRinnytintin PEOPLE who use the Mustang as a daily driver. You cannot be doing 100 miles/hour or drag racing down the crowded insterstate
.
It’s funny because an hour ago I got 6.1 seconds in my Ecoboost. Oof
you should do a review on a Hellcat
JC Ayala I have a helluva Hellcat idea. Need to pitch it to Dodge. =)
not sure there is a word more over used in describing a vehicle than "drivers car"
whiteandnerdytuba Aye, yup. Overused, for sure. I'll try to never use it again. =)
Went for a hill climb in this thing and it definitely feels like a heavy car. The 2.3L EcoBoost wow you at first but then you realized it wasn't enough, especially with that automatic transmission. And the fuel economy is rubbish.
Bright Ivan I've seen people getting 35+ real world fuel economy from the ecoboost. How is that rubbish exactly?
Bright Ivan Has no answer because he made a dumb statement lol.
SystemRichie I get 30+ highway fuel econ in my 5.0 lol
+Bright Ivan (Winkiedilwy) Not true. I hit 0-60 in 5 sec flat in my automatic 16 mustang ecoboost today. Mods are tune and bolt on's
26.1 on back roads with a few stop signs!? Impressive. My 2014 Focus ST cant manage above 25 on the back roads even when I am gentle though I NEVER really baby it for millage. Was that hyper-millageing or just normal driving? Also highway 30+ isn't bad either. Im right around there in my focus @ 75MPH.
2017 its a toss up between this or the cuda thats rumored to make a comeback.
You must be driving a new car. Once you get around 5000 miles you will be getting about 20-22mpg.
Also, the automatic turns in faster 0-60 and quarter mile runs then the stick
+MrMrwilson11 BUT the automatic cost 1500 dollars more. I will take 0.1 second slower times if I can save a big wad of cash
.
Also your first statement is backwards: Cars get higher MPG after the engine is broken-in and has less internal friction, so his 33 mpg in the test will go up
.
+electrictroy2010 Wrong. These cars get high mileage when new, it soon goes down. He will not be getting 33mpg for long. Mine was getting 30 when I bought it, whithin a couple months it was down to 21 average.
Also, that 1500 will be made up in better gas milage throughout the life of the car. and the difference is more than .1 seconds. The paddle shifters are far faster than a 6 speed manual. A 5.0 with 5000 miles will never get 33 MPG. Not even near it.
How can the mustang be the American Car if it looks more eurpean than ever.
GT gets 30.1 mpg at average of 60+ mph
Seems the 2.3 is gonna hit 35+ mpg highway
Ponygt 662 Knock wood I get to test the EcoBoost Mustang soon …
MPGomatic
Was the AC ON while you performed the mpg testing?
Waitin for your review,
Great job!
Nice and Honest review.
Thanks Ponygt 662! The A/C was off on that run with the GT. I've done some A/C on/off MPG testing over the years. The effect varies from car-to-car.
MPGomatic
Yep I was right, cuz with AC On there it ll b like 1-3 mpg less, in v8s from my experience unless,it has some really high quality dual clutch AT to keep it rolling at 7+ gears,
How was the cars refinement, I ve driven the new GT once and I was amazed by its refinement,it almost felt like a German car in terms of interior quietness, rock solid feel, etc
The v8 sound in the back ground was the only thing that reminded me its a Mustang,in all other sense Mustang grew leaps and bounds above its predecessor,
Ponygt 662 Solid. I don't recall hearing any rattles.
0:38 sounds bad ASS!
Yeah the back seats suck in Mustangs.LOL I'm sure it's the same in Camaros, Challengers, and Chargers eh?
Challengers & Chargers have cavernous back seats by comparison.
Back seats are overated.
370Z_Expert At least they're usable if the people up front can scoot up a little. It's not like a Corvette where you're forced to only fit 2 people.. legally.
chargers wtf... they are 4 door cars
@@TheDillinator exactly
I would have to be in the car ans seeit I have a 2015 Gt with 6 speed manual around town I get 21.6 I have 331:1 gear and baby it
When you say you can afford it. It's the same price as a camaro. The cheapest muscle car is the challenger rt. Then again alot less power out of the challenger rt. Yes the mustang is good car but don't say it's the only affordable muscle car.
+jbonecamero13 NO the cheapest muscle car is the Mustang V6 at 25,000 MSRP
.
+electrictroy2010 after dealer fees it is a good amount more then that
a SC Tundra can do 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds, that means it is faster than a 2015 Mustang GT 5.0 V-8 LOL
I got 5.5 seconds with the automatic on level ground.
+Real 0 To 60 Times 5 sec flat in 16 ecoboost
Great review but eugh auto
u never reviewed the v6?
How can you part of the car press and NOT drive a manual?
biscuitninja It should be part of the entry exam. Oh wait, there is no entry exam … =)
MPGomatic too true. I want to get this at add to my mildly modded Fox Body Mustang (730rwhp/690 lb-ft). ;)
biscuitninja NICE! That's some kinda mild!
4:13 Automatic??? Automatics are faster and more awesome!!!
You obviously dont drive manual...
My dad had a manual 05 Tacoma and currently has a 5-spd manual overdrive 89 ranger. I can't drive yet.
+Jeremy Good AUTOS cost 1500 dollars more than manual. I'd rather 0.1 second slower times and save a big wad of cash
.
electrictroy2010 and more fun driving
Asphalt8ficionado your full of shit lol the only people that say that don’t know how to drive a Manuel unless you have a built auto or Dct I promises I can shift faster and to be frank a Manuel is more engaging
drove one recently accelerates ok in a straight like but is total dogshit around bends or twisty roads couldn't hold a candle to a decent European car like an M5. No one in Europe would chose this over a good quality German performance car, it will not sell well in Europe in a million years. looks nice enough though but like a lot of American cars it is big heavy not too agile. Good for American roads I suppose.
+neil roberts Problem with the german cars is they look so generic and boring. Especially BMW M series. They look like souped up camrys. The mustang has the amazing looks and amazing sounding engine.
+neil roberts QUOTE: "No one in Europe would chose this" OH REALLY? Well car critic Richard Hammond of Top Gear chose a Ford Mustang over a german car. It sits in his front yard.
BTW search engine reliability Warranty Direct (on google) and you'll discover German cars have very poor quality (lots of engine breakdowns). Volkswagen, Audi, BMW... all in the bottom 10
.
An m5 is more than double the price of this mustang
Fast forward 3 years and its the best selling sports car in europe lol. Topiing even the great 911.
I wish it was built in Japan...
@4:08
Buhurrrah....
LOL
Is this manual?
No, 6 speed automatic
3:26 Is that a mistake? Are my headphones failing me, or are my ears? Did you say you can control the amount of play in the steering? I can believe adjusting power assist, adjusting the ratio would be a stretch, but the _play?_ That's abominable! Appalling! An outright atrocity! Why on Earth, should there even be a desire for even the slightest deadzone in the steering!
ExactlyPrecisely Shot on the fly, one take, said "play" meant to say "effort" … thanks for picking up on this, I've added an annotation.
That is relieving to know.
I just destroy one of this with my stock q50 redsport
why do you prefer a manual so much? i'm in europe and i was going to get the auto when it comes out but now im not sure if i should get the manual.
WestyWell95 Manuals = more fun to drive, less chance of being car jacked. =) It's suburban/rural where I live and there are lots of nice country roads to enjoy. If I lived in a more urban area (or had to do a lot of heavy-duty commuting) I might consider an automatic for a daily driver.
Fewer and fewer Americans know how to drive a car with a manual transmission. I'm on a mission to reverse that …
+MPGomatic manual is dying for a reason. there are to many gears to shift throught. who wants to shift theough 8-10 gears. not me
Dillon T There's an 8-10 gear manual? It's okay to shift from 3rd to 5th or 6th, though it does take a bit of thought.
I have a new 2015 Mustang GT with a little over 2600 miles on it. I manage to barely get over 18 mpg. How did you get this mustang to 26.1 mpg at 6:58? Thanks.
Sukhpreet Singh It's all about how, when, and where you drive. The 5.0L does really well on the open road with a light foot. Stop-and-go/city traffic is another story. The next time you take a highway run or are on a long two-lane country blacktop (without stops), reset the average MPG. Then, stick near the speed limit, go light on the pedal, and minimize lane changes. Every time you're on the pedal, it's sucking down the gas. :)
Sukhpreet Singh It's all on your driving style. I managed to get 27.3 mpg combined on my '15 GT on a 3.5 hour road trip with almost no stopping.
Lol. Drive it granny style. I've gotten 28 on my 2012 gt
5.1s 0-60? thats slow for a v8
Manual transmission is CHINESE
AL P *Upgraded Manual Transmission.*
nice 0 to 60 in 5 sec
It's actually 4.5 :D
Professional Hacker a SC Tundra does it in 4.4 sec
Professional Hacker
Looked closer to 5 seconds, IMO. Still quick, but I expected quicker.
tscooter22 yeah, especially with a v8 under the hood. But eh, it's a heavy muscle car so what do you expect? A good tune or an engine upgrade should do the trick :). There's plenty out there
Professional Hacker
Yeah, it's 1000 lbs. heavier than my old '82 GT.
Smh you have a 5.0 mustang and yr going at 10mph on the highway smh
Lucas Cavalcanti Cruise set at 68 MPH (3 MPH over the state speed limit of 65 MPH) equals 10 MPH? Check the speed on the ramps … =)
When we look for cars like that on youtube, we wanna see its real capacity. Take her to a track or somewhere where theres no cops, or no one that could get hurt. That's a constructive critic.
Lucas, can you read? This is an MPG test, not a full review.
Lucas Cavalcanti This channel is about mpg testing, duh...
+Lucas Cavalcanti HATER. You're no better than a racist
.
We want LAMBO and nothing else!
your optimistic and all but paddle shifters equal complete shit. your welcome for my opinion.
3:11-3:18 lmfao, get the ignorant people straight.
LIKE for 14:53
Mine came with a spare tire
Its an option for like $250. Better off buying your own :P
Auto for me too. Too much Tampa traffic, plus an auto is a faster shift than a manual. My Chevy Cruz is a stick, that enough. Installed a Kooks exhaust, sounds great. Get about 21.8 mpg is my best. See how it does when I take it on a long trip. The low double digits. lol. Yes, keep right, pass left. Lead, follow, or get out of the way! I'm a Jersey boy! I see you were driving in NJ. I like the line lock track feature.

I could watch the review right up until the point where the condescending voice arrived at 3:09, and I could watch no more.
Sorry, just thought I would let you know why I could not watch your whole review. :(
Have a good day!
Thanks for the feedback dowroa! I'll try to use that more often. =) Keep Cool!
pos ford that will fall to pieces in 5 years
buy a gen6 camaro lads..way better car
