I bought my home the same size if not bigger in 2019 lol. Newly built. Asking was $695K brought it down to $525K in Calgary. This house definitely is inflated at $1 million+. For a home that’s stretching 10 years old even with the $100K Reno’s, should be max around $800K. With that being said my home is worth $1 million+ as well. It’s just the market/inflation and all the new people relocating to Calgary. Do I agree with these prices? No. But am I sad my home got a big boost in value, nope I’m happy.
Is it homes appreciating in value, or is it possible the value of the currency depreciating creating inflation of other asset prices? Add in supply and demand - and pricing begins to look a bit more justified.
I agree with you. I'm from the U.S. and I couldn't BELIEVE the home prices when I moved here 10 years ago...and it's gotten even more expensive!! This home would be less than half that price in Texas and most other States.
@@geministeemers7824 homes have higher costs here for many reasons - huge country, few people, have to build for -30 and + 30 celsius, the cost of shipping goods, tariffs, low value of cdn dollar, etc.

Honestly I know this area really well - this home would have been $700k when it was built 9 years ago and they put $100k into it by finishing the basement and upgrading the main floor.
@@TheDarcycook I struggle so hard with comments like this. They’re based on little to no actual knowledge. This home was $775k as it stands from day 1 almost 9 years ago. For 6-7 years it maybe appreciated to $825-875, and then its risen 20% or so in the last few years. It did not go up 300-400k in 2 years.

My point is that the home you see in the video didn’t jump $450k in 2 years like the original commenter said. It’s an 8-9 yr old home that has now risen by about 25-28%. Which is like… what 3 to 3-1/2% per year?

Crazy that this was a 600k home not too long ago. Make it feel really hopeless for younger people to get a decent home
