The Wisdom of Odin is a vlog of my journey through Norse Paganism, a way to assist others along their journey, and a place to promote a positive image for all of paganism.
While I personally declare myself as a Norse Pagan, I speak on topics that also involve aspects of Asatru, Heathenry, and other pagan identities such as Slavic/Celtic/Germanic paganism.
All gatherings are set up and managed by The Fellowship of Northern Traditions, a non-proft religious organization. This channel/community is inclusive to all but is also non-political.

I am *obsessed* with the Irish Book of Invasions.
I also have no issue with Wicca, but am glad we seem to be entering an era where there are more sources available for alternatives outside of that lens
Very happy to hear about Wales at the beginning of the video. Hope you will visit Wales and Brittany (France). Celtic culture is so much alive today in these places. Welsh is still spoken at first language in so many places in Wales.
My Welsh video releases next month 👍
Brand new Subscriber. Paranormal researcher. Norwegian blood. Nature worshiper. I am so happy I found your channel and super intrigued 🙋♀️ Your hard work does not go unnoticed 🌹
Welcome, and thank you 🙏
Great book choices..thanks for sharing
I’m so excited for this next series!! Your videos are always so informative and beautiful ❤
Really appreciate these kinda videos, it’s nice to have all the recommendations in one spot.
I enjoy your videos every Wednesday, as it’s my day off and I’m just doing my laundry. I have three of the books you mentioned have have read two of them completely.
Thanks Jacob on including the Gauls. If you have any more book suggestions on them please let me know. Great list! Got a few in my cart😁
I really like your videos ♥
🙏
I have been enjoying all your content so far because I have scottish, irish, germanic, and Scandinavian heritage. And yes, they were all pagan at one point before the crusade against them.
I will be getting some new books soon, thanks!
Hi Jacob, much respect for all these vids, keep up the good work! Writing here from the UK.
Good morning Jacob, letting you know I think it’s awesome what your doing and information you’re giving to others.
You’re path is helping so many others to find a better understanding of their own and I think it’s infinitely important
Over here in Utah, you’re definitely a great source of information so, Thanks man!
Thank you 🙏
Keep it up brother, excellent video!
Awesome collection of books. Thanks for sharing with us. I am off of work for the next 6 months because of a torn rotator cuff and I have nothing but time :) ❤
Feel better soon! Luckily you’ll have a lot of videos from me to watch as well 🤗
@@TheWisdomOfOdin Yes indeed! LOL ;)
Found this on St Patrick’s Day 😊
Have you ever watched the High Man of Ireland by Richard Moore and Anthony Murphy(Mythical Ireland)? If you are going to Ireland, watch the High Man of Ireland.
OMG what is the name of the violin music at 9:10? It's beautiful! thank you for all the amount or research in order to help us. You are amazing, Jacob.
I did two modules in college, loved it.
Looking forward to this. Im Irish-American, and there seems to be some resentment about those of us who identify that way. It makes the study of Irish Celtic mythology... touchy. Never could afford to join ADF.
I identify as Irish Amercan, because my geneological history has Irish refugees in every single generation, and it is my refusal to accept the burden of English/European colonisim that is automatically dumped on anyone with white skin in North America.
I suggest the book Dialects of Ancient Gaul if you’re looking for linguistics in the language. Seriously the book is about as big as an old school Bible. Lots of info & material
I was curious about that book. Not many books on the Gaul side of the Celts.
Check out the book Celtic Myth and Religion by Sharon Paice MacLeod. She does not include Wiccan or new age material. Glad you included OhOgain's book, it's great! Also check out Handbook of the Scottish Gaelic World by Michael Newton and Folklore of the Scottish Highlands by Anne Ross. Also culturally accurate works that don't include Wicca or new age.
Duolingo has Irish and Scots Gaelic that you can learn from 😊
I'd love to know my Irish history
I hope you get to the Isle of Iona in your travels.
When you come to the uk let me buy you a coffee i have so many questions
Celtic Myth and Religion by Sharon Paice MacLeod is my go to Celtic paganism book.
Keep in mind there is a difference btwn Scots Gaelic and Irish Gaelic!
If you are planning to visit Ireland, I invite you to visit me if you want. I live in Dublin It would be an honor to sit with you, even if just for a little while ❤
Do you have a similar list/video for Norse/Nordic sources?
Several 👍🏻
"Táin" = "Táin Bó Cúailnge" (Cattle Raid of Cooley). Most seem to pronounce it "Tawn-bo koo-all-neah"
I'd also recommend Evangeline Walton's translation of the Mabinogion. I'll skeptical of Edain McCoy - she strikes me as a pop pagan author who takes as much license with Celtic source material as I do (and I write urban fantasy).
A couple of these I'll have to check out - I went to Scotland in 2022 and was awestruck by the Isle of Skye. Combined with my pagan past and relatively recently discovered Scottish ancestry, I want to dig more into the lore of Scotland.
Next week I’m meeting with Scottish content creator to film some great videos for Scottish belief.
I agree about skipping McCoy, she makes things up, like an Irish potato goddess.
Anything by Dáithí Ó hÓgáin is good
Why did i think Wicca was based on Basque Paganism?
Also as a Galician American I know a fair amount about the celtic rooted Fairytales/Mythology which often tells alot about the ancient pagan beliefs. Maybe worth an episode to cover the "celtic fringe"
