You're very right about your observations about the internet.
You're also very right about not rushing into a relationship with a deity. A true connection with a deity should never be treated casually. Although I think that at least few that claim a real connection with a certain deity are being false , or not entirely honest with themselves about how close or real their connection is with an entity, at least as far as the internet goes. ( Though I can literally feel out pretenders from the genuine online as I can in real life). Most online are real I've found . And it's made me glad to realise this. There's always some amount of narcissistic egoists in all cultures as I'm sure you are already aware. Although in my experience I've found they are very few in paganism. More real genuine people with real spiritual awareness and ability than not. Though some even with genuine intention , might be to quick to rush in and show their devotion to impress whoever , maybe.

@@KrisHughes, okay, so I been calculating for a while. So, what is the message to give, if it ends with every Jew's throat slit in Israel and all 1.6 billion Muslims prostrating unto Barack Hussein Obama during Ramadan of 2025, what do you tell humans?
      Daniel 9:27
"He shall be firm in a covenant with many for one week, yet in the midst of a week shall he stop to make sacrifice in the wing. Abomination! The one who spreads desolation spreads desolation even until complete consummation, for the decree that shall be, is a flowing forth."
BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA (the firm week)
      First time 2009-2012
      Second time 2013-2016
      DONALD TRUMP
      Cut-Off time 2017-2020
JOE BIDEN (in the midst of a week of an image of his time)
October 7, 2023 is the dawn of JACOB’s (Israel’s) TROUBLE
Then cometh Annihilation, the perishing of the end.
      Daniel 7:25-26
“He will speak against Allah, to wear out the saints of the Highest One, intending to change time to a decree (stop all time - decrees are final), and give his hand a time, and a time, and a cutting off time. But the judgment shall be final and his dominion shall pass away (Joe Biden’s boss loses influence in the USA, for Joe Biden has to leave the White House, and Trump comes in for a supposed glorious future), then annihilation, the perishing of the end.”
      Daniel 9:24
"Seventy, seven, decreed upon thy people (Jews) of the Holy City (Jerusalem), to finish the transgression, sin offering, propitiation unto iniquity. "Come in unto the eternal duration of Righteousness." Seal the vision of this prophecy, unto the Most Holy Place."
      70 and 7
      Then the end.
Can a nation be born in a day?
      May 14, 1948
Israel, as a nation, is gone before May 14, 2025.
I’ll go further and say with the Holy Bible we can know it is gone before Ramadan next year ends with Eid al-Fitr.
      How can I know?
Because this Ramadan meets the criteria for the final Ramadan.
      Isaiah 66:23
““New moon to new moon, Sabbath to Sabbath, all mankind will come to be brought down before Me,” saith Yahweh.”
Ramadan is the feast calculated to begin & end with NEW MOON and this 1 is bounded by Sabbaths.
It begins with the Anti-Christ gaining the Islamic prostration in Palestine whole with Israel wiped off the map.
      Ezekiel 46:1-3
"Thus saith Adonai, Yahweh, "The Gate of the inner court facing the East shall be shut six working days, but open the Sabbath (Saturday), open the day of new moon. THE PRINCE shall enter by way of the porch of the gate from outside and stand by the post of the gate; then the priests and sacrifice shall make whole burnt offering, sacrifice and prostration at the threshold of the gate, and exit, and the gate shall not be shut until the evening. All the peoples of the land shall also worship at the doorway of the gate, before Yahweh on Sabbath and on new moon."
And how does Yahweh feel before He shows up per REVELATION 11:7-15 to change it?
      Isaiah 1:13-14
"Bring vain oblation no longer, the incense is abomination. New moon Sabbath, you proclaim assembly. I cannot endure the inquity of this solemn assembly. I hate the new moon, your appointed feast. You have become a burden; I am weary of bearing with you.”
THIS RAMADAN goes from FEBRUARY 28 to MARCH 29, 2025.
MARCH 13-14, 2025, has a total lunar eclipse & appearing as a BLOOD MOON
      Joel 2:31
“The Sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood red, before the Great and Terrible day of Yahweh cometh.”
      The Acts 2:20
“The Sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood red, before the Great and Terrible day of Yahweh cometh.”
      Hosea 5:7
"The dealers of treachery against Yahweh bear the illegitimate children, and now, in-between the new moons, I will devour all of them in their land."

The deity is basically a teacher they show up when you're at your worst and at your lowest to help you if you need it. But like any divine our universe it doesn't give you what you want it gives you what you need and if you appreciate that then you don't disrespect them. That's what my great-grandfather always taught me and he was a druid priest

100% agree! I love your word, grounded, that is the perfect word. I’m thirty-two but still remember in person gatherings and very much miss that. Discord is helpful but it feels harder to find community still. I’m glad personally, I feel fine working alone. Company is nice all the same. I’m a very logical thinker, or maybe it’s the autism, but I typically seem to need a lot of scientific proof for things. My polytheist path started as re-evaluate my practice of always trying to identify instances of confirmation bias, but in researching the Bronze Age, certain things, stories, gods kept coming up again and again and I thought to myself, there’s no harm in leaning in and I have been much happier engaging in spirituality again after deconstructing my evangelical christian (nationalist) upbringing, I didn’t realize how much I was missing that connection. I can’t say for sure if my experiences and encounters are interactions with the divine, but I know the power of ritual feeling like having some kind of control in life of things that otherwise are chance. And that has brought me peace and happiness so why not lean in.

Your videos are amazing and I greatly enjoying hearing your point of view. Both humble and knowledgeable, two of my favorites to give and receive information. When I use to attend gatherings in the past I found many folks where on their own path and there tended to be friction or groups within the groups would cluster together in almost cliques. I think another big problem we had back then was lack of resources to do further studying. The more that is available now online the more I realize that Llewellyn publications was not always a dependable source. Sure you had some very knowledgeable authors, but you had a lot of repeat information and many didn't know where their information was coming from.

I am still sorting out what it means, and in no rush to do so, but one day recently I knew the name Bríg. I didn’t know who or what it was. I had been studying the language of my great grandfather and my cousins, so when I “heard” the name (if you can call it hearing), I had a strong sense of how it was spelled.
It was January 31st, hours before Bríg’s day begins in Ireland. I was making candles as part of a school project with my children. Once I did a little more digging on this name, we added some Brigit’s crosses to our project.
I’m primarily of Irish descent, but even in that Irish, it’s funny how frequently Welsh and Scottish married into the family.
I have felt for a long time that the children of Éire are followed by a certain spirit wherever they go. Even with that feeling in me, as a recovering Christian, I’m still wrapping my head around apparently having the name of a goddess I didn’t know about pop into my head right before the time pagans were getting ready to celebrate her bringing her warmth back to the earth - and while I was making candles no less 🤯

This whole year I’ve been feeling a pull towards spirituality and religion. Ever since I grew up from childhood, I’ve had no need or felt an absence of religion. As a kid I grew up in the outdoors, even raised by them. I spent my time at the beach and the river and the lake and convincing (?) myself I could talk to literal fairies. The older I grew the more the world took me away from the outdoors, and, by extension my awe and curiosity and sense of connectedness/purpose. When I was in my early teenage years, I discovered I was queer, pushing me farther and farther away from religion because of the judgement and crucifixation pinned on me as a queer person by the Christian church. I even grew to hate ALL religion, christian or other, seeing religious people as blind woo-woos. This last year though, I’ve been reconnecting to the land of my childhood and nature itself. It has brought me the most happiness and feeling of belonging I’ve had since I was a young child. Through the year, I’ve felt more and more called towards the spirituality of nature. Recently, a series of unfortunate events have happened in my life, most recently a close 18 year old cousin of mine got into an accident, and something peirced straight through his leg, leaving him in life threatening circumstances when the injury turned infected and he went into sepsis. I remember that night, staying up and praying for the first time to god, any god, even a christian god, that somehow, somehow, that he would be alright. In the morning, I woke up to find that the signs of sepsis were actually a small stick of wood behind his knee cap the doctors hadn’t noticed. He made a full recovery in 3 months. Whenever I’m in nature I don’t feel alone. Recently, after a conversation with my father about an pagan ex-girlfriend of his, I decided to look into paganism. Learning the concepts of paganism has felt less like an ‘discovering’ and more like coming home to an experience I had already known, but had been taught to forget and ignore. I think there may be diety/or purpose calling to me. (which feels weird to say as a born, raised and chociefully atheist person) I suspect its connected to the earth. I’m thinking Gaia or Jörd. It doesn’t feel like a personification of the land, but more like the land itself. Maybe it’s neither Gaia or Jörd, maybe it’s not even a “god” in a human-like/strict sense of the word, but I’m excited to see where this path is pulling me. I’ve been looking particularly towards my ancestor’s pagan beliefs (I’m mostly Irish and Norse, My family immigrated to america only about 3-4 immigrations ago. My grandparents’ grandparents. So I know a lot about who the immigrants in my family are) But so far, I feel the most connection with Gaia.

I am an atheist, but I am interested in what people believe because I find it fascinating. I am from Celtic origins myself, a Celt far from home if you will. I appreciate the candid nature of your video. I did not know that these beliefs and practices were still around. My Father would have called them old superstitions. As long as you are not claiming to be 'the one true religion' I'm cool with it. My ancestors, no doubt, could have believed similar things. And that to me is a sort of connection to the past.
I have often thought that offerings to deities were more about being thankful for life or asking for help of some kind. You have confirmed some of that for me. But it seems to go much deeper for some. Perhaps one day I might witness some of these rituals myself.
    Thank you Kris.

Why not claim to be true? Is not 4 the one true answer to 2+2?
The law of non-contradiction shows that nothing that contradicts can be true, if one religion teaches that there is only one god, another that there are twelve, and another that there are thousands, they can’t all be true.

When I was around 5 years old, I had a dream of what I thought was God (I was raised Christian and that was the only association I had), but he had antlers and was hanging on my wall like a mounted deer head. He was telling me something serious and told me I was going to "forget". I remember insisting I would not forget. I have no idea what it was he was telling me now but I always remembered the dream. I was in my 20s when I saw a candle holder that was carved into the image of Cernunnos and got chills .... my dream God was Cernunnos, it looked exactly like the image from my dream. It was a strange moment.

I started out in life fairly atheist, mostly due to negative interactions with Christians, I eventually had forgiven many instances and slowly faded away from atheism and into agnosticism as was unsure of the possibilities and had no drive to search for them... I had been that way for many years. I recently started my journey searching for spiritual connections, I have recently this last few weeks have been taking a deep dive into polytheism as I am drawn to the idea of multiple deities that are not a singular judgmental omnipresent being such as the Christian God as I found many flaws in that religion.. I have been looking more into norse myths and polytheism as I do have a connection to that culture, I however discovered I am ⅓ Scottish, and I am now considering searching into the Celtic deities and I am searching for signs while obtaining knowledge. Any advice is nice to have but this video has been helpful.

I dreamed about Celtic Goddess Artio!
I had no idea who she was but I knew when I woke up from that dream that she was important!!
We were in a field and she was standing there in her blue green dress a cape around her shoulders her hair in a bun curls blowing at her temples one strand in front .
She was standing with her Gigantic Bear I was scared to approach but she was waiting for me the bear was just grazing around her paying me no mind like he knew me already she raised her hand to tell me to come closer and never mind the bear he knew what I was there for.
I didn’t get to see or hear what she had to say next I woke up ! I talked to my daughter about it and she pulled her up I was amazed I have never heard of her I just wonder what I should do or learn now ??

You had a dream about Artio calling you? Wow, you must be lucky, I certainly haven't gotten that far, the only thing that happens to me is that I feel that Ataegina, a Celtiberian Goddess of the Spring, the Moon and Queen of the Underworld, is calling me, or at least I notice some kind of connection with her. I don't know how to explain it, it's very strange, ever since I read about her I've had her hovering around my head, without being able to stop thinking about her at all. Thinking about her also gives me calm and peace of mind.

I get the feeling that people are turning to the Earth out of concern and respect for Her. People then look to pre-christian religions out of a need to get closer to the Earth. People seem more interested in nature, the seasons and the weather. The question on people's' minds is, how were we before the Romans.

What does it mean if I have a vision of the Crone during a near death experience? It took me 5 years to identify what I saw and today I finally found multiple pictures of “the triple Goddess” which is ironic because I’ve been seeing 3 everywhere ever since. But I only saw the “Crone.” It was just her head floating in the air by my hospital bed and she was laughing. Now I connect with the birds like everyday, the number 3 and just last night I saw a black dog running down the street and it’s the second time a black dog randomly appeared and then disappeared. I have no idea what it means. I am Scottish and come from the “McDaniel’s” and now I’m feeling called to understand Morrigan's Prophecy. Not sure how to interpret any of this.

If it interests you, you might want to research the goddess Hekate and her associations. But if you do, be sure to look up all her lore and mythology, not just what people say on social media about her. She can manifest in many different ways to different people, but your comment stood out to me because she is often associated with dogs, specifically black hounds. You might find it an interesting path to go down even if she doesn't resonate with you in the end.
Oh, also - if you're feeling drawn to the Morrigan in particular there's a good (in my opinion) book called "The Book of the Great Queen" by Morpheus Ravenna. I'm sure Kris knows even better ones (aside from the actual Irish lore books) but that's where I started when I was curious about the goddess.
Anyway, I wish you well in your seeking! 😊

Beyond just not dying, I could have easily damaged my skull and brain, broken my spine or some other bone, gotten glass into my eyes and been blinded (I shattered a car window with my face, while wearing glasses). But no. I am completely fine, just had to get a few stitches and will have a scar to remember this by. I believe some spirit was looking out for me, leaving me only damaged enough to teach me a lesson, but preventing any real harm. It will be a long journey for me to discover who saved me, and for what purpose.

I've had this recurring dream for several years. It starts out: i'm in a park i used to visit as a child. I walk into the small evergreen forest area at the back of the park and as i walk, the forest expands.
The trees become towering and the atmosphere is misty. In the mist appears a stag, with horns that grow well beyond the ability to see.
The stag isnt glowing or colored, just a shadowed figure in the mist. I feel its eyes on me as i continue, and become uneasy. The stag simply follows and watches me from a distance.
Usually, i wake up suddenly with a feeling of general unease, but nothing malicious.
One morning, i awoke from this dream with "The Great Stag" echoing through my mind. So far, only Cernunnos has come up in searches, yet for some reason that doesnt feel correct?
    Am i ignoring a call?

I’m having a weird introduction to what I believe is the Dagda, and while I am aware of the Morrigan and their daughter Brigid, I don’t understand why he is contacting me or what he would want from me, but I’m getting very clear messages it’s him, namely having his name on a loop so often I had to look it up to see what it was. I thought it was a word I invented because it’s a nice sound. Now what? He has my attention, but I don’t know to what end.

I don’t think it was a wild crazy moments… to anyone else it would have just been a bad day… but i have felt pulled by a line of fate my entire life telling what i should and shouldn’t do. And when I go against its wisdom I get gravely hurt and the line snaps until it can rebind itself… there have been moments in my life…
A rattle while I was standing on a log (I live in a place where rattlesnakes are uncommon there is only one species)
I used wo wish to see more trilliums and then I moved next to an entire grove!
A monarch butterfly refused to let go of me in my grandmothers garden while I sat next to a lilac bush.
A deer let me get closer then I thought humanly possible.
A hawk helped me see a chickens heart to sate my curiosity. (Looking back now I wish I tried to read the entrails I will never get a chance like that again)
And finally I was low awhile back and a bunny (a symbol of my life) who had business being in such a heavily populated area where there was next to no vegetation stood for a few seconds until I had stopped crying and then disappeared into the night just as my partner arrived…
Not to mention the deer skeleton I begged my mother to let me collect of the side of the road to now a skull I still have today…
These moments stick out in my head… there were other moments in my life but nothing *feels* as defining as these… the deer crashing through the window, the bird coming home after 3 weeks my favorite bird surviving being shot. My bird surviving a hawk attack. Having no broken bones or concussions or ANY MAJOR INJURIES despite the multiple car crashes or times i place myself in danger. These don’t feel like the ones above those felt *different*

Crows and Magpies have been a rather constant in my life. Most of the time I am saving them from other humans or asking Morrigan to save them. They are my messengers and at most points I get the message if not the first time certainly the second. Then I get into a video and get told that a ring around your longest finger at the base is an indication that the Morrigan chose you and is taking a direct interest in your life and mine is so red and so prominent and has decidedly three lines in it which I think are directly tied to each of three goddesses that make up the Morrigan each have a line. When I was little, I planted a garden for my mother, who was my main abuser. Her favorite color was the peace rose. I also planted a red vining rose at the end of the row. in one season all of the roses were red and vining. I didn't think too much of that until recently I gave that goddess trio blood red roses. Those roses lasted 4 weeks and were still prefect. now I can connect her the garden when I was younger, and I was saving magpie from the sheriff who was going to shoot it. These things and a few others such as reading the description of Maeve's personality and I have the main points of that personality all tell me that Goddess trio isn't going anywhere. Is this what you all are after?

My real Autism, tolerance and empathy of cultures I have an easy time seeing how nature is honored but then gets written down as hundreds of people. I see clearly that the mother goddess list is kind of super long. It isn't that I'm not called it's that I'm not near a forest but however my insight lets me visualize both the planet's natural actions that fit the descriptions and a human form of a goddess. I understand enough Celtic goddess secrets to independently realize several of their later names don't rhyme with the first few early names they started with in the early days. But I can see that Basque deities are similar to Celtic deities like they're the same person just dressed different.

Really appreciate this post and your unique knowledge /advice - down to earth, grounded and honest which I like. I don't believe a Celtic deity can call you, for there is only one God - my opinion but I believe ancestors/ spiritual guides etc can protect/ call us. I was drawn to Taliesin many years ago after a seer found me and we connected for a couple of years - after my muddled self was able to make sense of what was happening to me since a child and move on. Does the name 'Myrffaed' mean anything to you( Welsh) name? So far no one knows. My DNA goes back 1000 yrs & 99% Celtic origins/ancestry unbeknown to me, but sensed those roots - Welsh/ Scots/ Irish/ English & Nordic. My belief; my ancestors are within & around me, not a deity. I feel them in my bones & spiritually, often moved to tears when in Wales/ Scotland & old England. As I age & reflect on past experiences I'm no longer fearful but even more open to understanding that I just maybe on the right path. Happy New Year! 🙏

I'm really glad I clicked this video, so much wisdom. I'm not a Celtic pagan per se, but what you were saying about deities and how they might notice you, this happened with my closest deity. She's shown up in my life many times since childhood, always to protect me from a negative spirit including but not limited to my own father. When I was 15 I rebelled against my Catholic upbringing (more like got bored with it) and dabbled in paganism, but then I became an Evangelical, and then an atheist, in all these phases she would pop in to check on me and appear in my dreams to ward off nightmares. Around 2016 I began to hear and feel the pull of a deity, who eventually identified herself as Hekate, initially I thought she was supposed to be my 'Patron'. That was until she introduced me to Athena, and as soon as I felt her presence I knew, this was the one I've been trying to connect with. I learned from other Athena acolytes I've met in the wild she has a habit of selecting her closest people as children, because that's when she gets to see us as our truest and purest selves before trauma sets in and changes us. The thing that inspired me to write this though was when you talked about making a vow to a deity. When I officially asked her to be my patron and I did a dedication ritual to her promising to honor her to the best of my ability and if I fall short to get up and try harder the next time, she used the word 'priestess' to describe me. I knew that her priestesses from antiquity and the Hellenic era would take vows of celibacy, and I almost did, but she stopped me and told me that I had to wait 3 years before she would accept such a vow from me. She basically said that's a big thing to give up for a God, that she'd be very pleased if I eventually made the vow and kept it, but that it was something I needed time to decide if I really was willing to make that commitment to her.

Given how the earliest references and stories written about the Celtic religions were written far after the Irish converted to Christianity, how do you know anything about their stories reliably? Like how Lugh was clearly described as not being a god, while having enough traits as one that the original stories likely had the Tuatha Dè Denann being divine.
How do you reliably know anything about your gods?

    • @KrisHughes
      @KrisHughes  Год назад +3

Well, in the case of Lugh, we can be pretty sure that the Irish saw him as a deity at some point, simply because his name is cognate with the god Lugus, who is attested in inscriptions in Gaul. This is true for enough of the deities/mythological characters in the Irish texts that it is reasonable to infer that these are myths about deities. Exactly how we should view the involvement of the Medieval scribes in influencing the material is something Celtic scholars have been hashing out for a couple of centuries, and it can't ever be fully resolved. Much study is required, and a combination of self-confidence and humility is needed to interpret the material.

I had a strange experience. I didn't believe the gods and goddesses to be real in any sense, due to the fact that I'm in a western magick school that looks at these things as not just allegorical stories for initiates throughout time, but also egragores that people feed with their thoughts, emotions, love and devotion.
I had been doing some work out of a book centered around Hekateean magick.... Nothing major, just banishings, protection spells, ceiling spells, things like that, and then I had noticed recurring themes happening. People with black dogs that would bark at me ferociously, and other weird occurrences like owls kept coming by my apartment when I have never even heard one in all the years I have lived here. Then I did a ritual actually giving an offering to hekate, I gave some food and a black candle. After the ritual I was on the phone with my girlfriend and during any ritual with a candle I always do the same thing. I have a ritual room with an alter in the center of the room, and I place candles on a metal dish. There isn't much else in the room, (it's empty accept for what I bring in there for rituals) and has a wood floor. About ten minutes later I had a feeling to check and make sure that the candle hadn't fallen over, because I try to stay safe with these things and when I entered the room, there was the metal dish, but no candle ANYWHERE. She says: "did it fall on the floor? I told her no! There is nowhere for it to go to. The floor is bare and empty. It just vanished.
