Really like the piece on quantum computing you mentioned. I could see quantum computing as a major disruptive technology. Just don't know when it would really emerge as a reliable technology... could take longer than our whole lifespan or could be less than a decade. I've been very wary on crypto right now. I definitely see the utility of it for developing nations with unstable economies

Regulations: truly banning btc is impossible since you'd have to sniff out all hundreds of thousands of nodes, most of them hiding in the tor network. Countries trying to ban btc will fall behind countries embracing it, and we're seeing this game theory playing out.
Competition: Bitcoin not only has the first mover advantage, it's the only true decentralized network that is resistant to attacks or influence from single entities. It already is the perfect store of value, so there's no point to reinvent this. We also don't have 2 internets, just the one. Everything that other coins do can be done on second layers if there's a market for it.
Forks: the market will decide which the better fork is, and when it forks you'll have your coins in each fork. This market consensus is what makes btc so strong.

Most Iranians or at least those who have access to Internet are very interested in crypto. We had many illegal farms back in the day and it was profitable to do that since electricity is dirt cheap for those who have an dollar based income. But I'm afraid that this era is coming to an end for us since we are getting banned from platforms and those companies which provide services. And our brilliant government can't provide electricity 24/7 anymore due to gas shortage. So we are kinda shit out of luck. It might sound pathetic but I'm starting to question if life in this part of earth actually worths living...
