OK, I’m 80 years old female and I know I am never going to build a house now. that said what a fascinating tutorial on your part, I do hope that this company compensate you for a fantastic tutorial. it could never be better explained by anyone else ever.!
I am a 70 yo woman and I feel the same way, glad he has the railing, and really good tutorials,, and to the person that commented about us not building houses at our age,, just wait with good health and well traveled and many homes built you’ll understand!! We have done it!!!
Kathleen...sorry for the foolish comments. They don't represent all of us on here. Glad you enjoyed his video. This is what youtube is supposed to be. An escape...an opportunity to learn...an opportunity for folks to share their experiences.
As a 60 year old, I agree, he should be given a bit of compensation and a installation certification. Since I am now not daunted by the task I may add this to my back porch rebuild!
I don't even change my own oil so I'm pretty sure I'll never build my own house but I'm mesmerized whenever I get to watch you build something. Thank you for all the trouble you go to when you take us along for the ride. ❤
Timmy, brother, cable rail looks AWESOME. So glad to hear that you're continuing that look on the inside. Btw, been a subscriber for a while, just gotta say that you/your channel are indeed NUMBER 1! No whining, great mix of content, great videography, and you are by far the most down-to-earth individual with THE BEST attitude bro!!!!
Timmy , great idea. this sure is a relief for hundreds of thousands of us knowing you will not fall of the edge . We are planning to hang around following your adventures for many more years . Stay brave and adventurous man ! Love from france ❤
I have just stumbled upon your channel, but I won't be stumbling off of your amazing rooftop deck! What you have done is fabulous. It is sufficient to keep everyone safe, yet not block the amazing views you have from up there.
Hey I started watching Timmy’s channel because I have also have a 7.3 1T Ford truck that I bought new in 2001. Boy I’m hooked on everything this young man does. He’s freaking amazing.
I’ve really been loving the house building content lately as well as the frequent uploads, Tim. Cannot wait to see the house once it’s completed but not as much as I’m sure you are lol.
Lookin fabulous. I was a bit scared of someone falling off the roof so I like the fencing. Looks nice, you can see through it. Yes, went and looked at it again. Sturdy and looks good. You do great work.
About to go to bed… to get my 8 hour of sleep and be ready for my nursing job tomorrow but nah! Mr. Timmy is in the house! So… I think it won’t hurt if I stay I little bit late tonight watching him and all his shenanigans! What do have instored for us, Sir? 😁
How deeply satisfying to stand at that rail and gaze at the wonderment at your doorstep, knowing that you have built your dream house! Thank you for bringing us along for the ride, BTW as tight as a bass guitar string, what a geeky musician reference. 🎸
I'm so happy you've almost buttoned-up the entire exterior. All this detail work takes time and easily overlooked but you're nearly there. Now you can be warm and dry inside to bring it all together.
Your attention to detail and integrity really shows up in your documentation. What a great feeling to take your idea, shift into CAD mode and work alone. And let us know the process. Mesmerizing I like that word. Thx
This is so satisfying to watch someone else do something I did, but on a much bigger and better scale. It took me three years to do mine, and that was with hiring out some jobs like trimming doors and windows, bathroom tiling, plumbing, and I hired a builder and he and I literally built it together. Of course I hired for basement, foundation and flatware cement and septic. I'm a girl, and not like I couldn't do most things, after doing the roofing myself, I decided life was too short to beat myself up and be dead of old age before I finished!😂
Just a thought. Consider adding flat L- brackets to the inside of the posts to mount vertically on the post and horizontally to the roof for additional strength and safety. Just a thought.
My husband just started watching your channel today and loves that you are so young and doing things you have never done before. He is 71 and built cabinets for 30 years and now still works full time building spectator seating. Great job.
Hey Tim, New to your channel and you are amazing. Not only that, watching you install the roof fencing and explaining how it’s done….You definitely have the patience of an angel😆
The exterior of the house is majestic with that view from the roof well done. Cant wait to see the interior work to be done and the exterior stair railing. You sir are a great architect!!
You do an awesome job of explaining all the construction techniques you’re using, and you are building a beautiful home! Love watching your videos and watching your place come together. Deck and handrails are amazing! Thanks for sharing with us! 👍
I didn’t worry one bit ever about the railing. But when you slipped while putting the hand rail on I then laughed and said. “Yeah I guess a rail is needed on the roof 😂
What a Gorgeous view of those mountains Timmy! I hope Erin is there with you when you slipped and lost your footing at the beginning of the video by the door my heart jumped out of my chest. Thanks for sharing!!
Beautiful work. Just perfect for your space. Does not detract from your views at all. I think what took you the most time was explaining it to your audience. If you had sunlight more hours in a day up there, you would have had this done in one, or one and a half days. I've only just started following you. Been watching the older vids as I can to catch up. Fascinating life you live! I'm in awe of all the things you can do. Building a truck cabin, an actual living cabin, canoeing, snow boarding, playing in a band, testing drivers for their license.... the list is endless. You're intelligent, even tempered, fun, adventurous, mechanical, musical... on and on. Entertaining as hell to watch. Keep up the beautiful scenery and adventures I'm hooked.
Perfect choice for the railing! I had misgivings at first because of the height and how safe it would actually be, but I'd certainly feel safe up there with it. I am so glad you had to do the work and not me, because most of the set screws, and other tools would be on the ground, far below, and it would take me weeks just to get one side done, I am sure. I have always been all-thumbs, and I admire your patience and steady hand. It was very relaxing to watch. I used to watch my dad all the time. He was the same. Very patient, and his work was always beautiful to behold. He even learned macrame at one point. lol So, now I'm dating myself. lol Thanks for a great video.
Hokie doodlehoppers!! I am SO HAPPY you're finally putting that rail up LOL I was freaking out every time you were up there and too close for my liking, to the edge!!! Grear video, Tim ❤
The handrail is amazing and it looks professionally installed! If I ever decide to get one, I'm gonna bookmark this little tutorial for future reference. 👏
Never going to build a house but find this weirdly relaxing to listen to as I work from home. As with all your videos. Ha! Also, you most likely have the nicest house on the street!
This is my favorite channel of all time 🙌🏻 I’m a structural welder with the iron workers- I was hoping there were parts of that gate that needed to be welded haha but it seems it’s all pre-fabricated and just needs to be screwed in! The whole thing looks awesome
Awesome work dude!! I absolutely love the cable rail system. I looked into systems similar to yours for my deck at the lake. I couldn't stomach the prices. I made all my own connections & ran my cable through 4 x 4 wood posts. It was ALOT of work building everything myself but so worth it. I love my cable rail & lots of people stop by to see how I built it.
Off the charts. The cable railing we have done have a spring loaded turnbuckle on them. That is so much cleaner looking but it will be curious how they stay tight when it gets warmer. Great show again dude!
Timmy, What an excellent teacher you are. So patient and detailed. I starting watching for the truck adventures, but the house and all you are doing is so awesome to watch. I hate when your videos end. Good Job!
You are a lucky man to have such a beautiful home to live the lifestyle you have been living I personally enjoy your videos and I wish you the very best and everything you do thank you Timmy.
Your house is really coming together nicely! We have to replace a bunch of deck and stair railing this spring. This video came at a perfect time. Thank you!
This is why I like this channel - it’s not only a cool travel / adventure channel but also practical tips and techniques around construction / maintenance and DIY stuff that is super helpful in giving me ideas.
You have impressed us all at every turn man! I’ve loved watching you progress and not be afraid to tackle anything! So incredible! I’ve been watching since you put the truck house in even before the flatbed. Absolutely love your channel. It’s my favorite on RUclips!
Oh wait… it’s showing in 13 hours?!🙄… the boss better not interrupt me tomorrow on my break watching you. The rationale for using such guardrails, sir? I’m sure we’ll learn bright ideas from you as usual…. Everyone be ready with your pen and paper…. Class will start soon😁… can’t wait!
I don’t know about Tim’s rationale for this type of railing, but when I rebuilt my deck, wife and I decided to go with thin stainless wire and aluminum posts which block little of not no part of your view. Since we live on a lake using this type instead of wood 4x4 posts and railings.
Great job installing that! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw you leaning over because you actually did have to put the bracket on the outside of the roof. Holy smokes.
Looks great and that Cable Bullet system is awesome! These videos on the building of the cabin are really fun to watch. Keep up the great work and that place will be something to be very proud of when you are done. Cheers!
Kathleen saubrei said it perfectly. What an awesomely well done tutorial. I was thinking how it reveals your intelligence and clarity of thought to speech. Excellent job!
you could have put down a tarp or moving blanket to put under your cutting station to catch all your drilling and sawing chips that were created in your fabrication process.
You doing all this by yourself is crazy and I give it to ya you work so good and don't give up great job and love the vlogs can't wait to the inside starts
You simply cannot put a price on those views! The drone taking in the entire outside is amazing! I wouldn’t change anything! And you’re not even done! I did gasp out loud a lil on the scootch up top near your door. 😳 Great material choices! Stay blessed!
Ya definitely picked a big snow year to build in Girdwood. After 35 winters and retiring from where those train horns are coming from, I decided playing golf year around in shorts was a bigger priority...so fled south. lol Love your videos though, as Alaska will always be home and I feel closer to my 3 children and grandsons...who still live in Anchorage. Soooo...thanks! ✌
I love all the little details and the siding the metal siding that you chose is perfect. It’s such a great contrast to the wood with the slats. It just all comes together so well.
Great building your house, glad that you finally getting a barrier up on the roof top. Was afraid you fall off. Love watching your channel. I'm a old dude from Nebraska.
Man, when you put that first top rail on and your foot slipped....so did my heart rate😮 still getting my Vertigo with rails on ! But glad you will be safe when snow blowing, sunbathing or dancing on flat roof.
Wow! Timmy you have a little bit of paradise on earth, nice job with railing a new learning experience and it looks fantastic. Your scenery is breath taking, you could stay home forever and just take it all in, but we know you Timmy; you cannot stay in one place too long. That is good for us and you, we get to take in God's beauty as we journey with you. You are a excellent guide and teacher, it shows how much you love what you do.
Timmy! You are amazing, you can do everything! Thank you so much for including all of us in your life adventures! Your place is beautiful! I’m so happy for you! Can’t wait for your next video!❣️
Awesome video as always Timmy. Can't wait to see when railings are done how your cabin looks. Your design is a unique one is a little different from the homes around you but that's a good thing.
Timmy,I am so thoroughly enjoying watching you build this place! Your instructions are so concise and understandable that anybody could do it you make it seem so easy. Congratulations and I can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s finished.
What a view! Actually I was a bit fearful being up there with you although it was vicariously so I couldn't really enjoy the view. But now that the railing is up, i can see why you used cable railing. Now the view can be enjoyed while relaxing. All you need now is a hammock, after the winter of course.
Timmy the Bullet Railing is sickkk.... I'm glad you're able to get the outside buttoned up... Seen you put in the garage door too, which looks sweet... My folks built our house with labor of Love and it's ALWAYS something to be proud of!!! Look'n Amazing much appreciated your taking us along on your house build journey... I'm looking with Eagle eyes for the next one so much!!! Like a Great weekly sitcom... Like dang how fast the episode went n now wait 🤠 Cheers
I found your channel recently and am hooked now. LOL What a gorgeous house, both little truck house and your big house. Can't wait to watch your journey, Tim. Kudos to you and the design of this beautiful home. Impressed beyond words. Stay warm, stay safe and stay on your path of ingenuity and self taught marvels.
Looks absolutely brilliant and looks nice safe and sturdy too which is the main point of it ! such an envious house build it really is ! would love something like this here in the UK
Create a Cutout Door way into the Cable Railing on the roof.. that way you can lift things into the deck if the need arises... and you'd not have to take down the railing each time you lift something heavy on the deck. lastly add some top down flood lights on the 3 outter corners.. that way you can see in the night or in a bilzzardy night.

As a 60 year old, I agree, he should be given a bit of compensation and a installation certification. Since I am now not daunted by the task I may add this to my back porch rebuild!

You said that much more diplomatically than I would have.
@@neva.2764 no , Dutch !
You’re a really good teacher. Clear, concise instructions and actually showing what you’re doing.
He is a driving instructor, so demonstrating how to do something in these videos probably comes naturally.

I can't put any screws through that parapet wall (the wall w/ the red cap) or it might make the roof leak).
Makes sense. Outstanding work.
Love the staircase tower. It reminds me of a lighthouse.

True… I think the wind factor too… i guess….

this is actually a really cool system and looks very strong as well. good on you Cable Bullet!
Absolutely love this style of railing; Timmy you really know how to explain, in layman's terms, very well. Thank you for sharing this :)
Thanks!
That is a great rail system. Enjoyed watching you install. Excellent video!
you could have put down a tarp or moving blanket to put under your cutting station to catch all your drilling and sawing chips that were created in your fabrication process.
Great tutorial on the cable rail. It looks beautiful and doesn’t distract from the scenery. Thanks for taking the time to share this with your peps.😎

Great job Timmy. That’s going to be an amazing deck. Congrats
Everything you're doing is looking great. The garage door isa beauty too! You should be proud of the nice work you do. Enjoy.

What a great episode. The cable railing looks so clean and unobstructed views. This addition is turning out amazing!!
Love the railing! Actually I love everything you’ve done so far! Great job!
Well, yea, I was one of those. Every time you were on the roof going. He's gotta be gonna put some railings up. Going to look awesome.
I like the horizontal corrugated steel on the house next door.
