@@orphanedhanyou It’s impossible and unrealistic to win a war without killing anyone. She avoided it but then there are people like Tarlys who left her no choice. She gave an option to live and they refused it. They chose their own demise.
@@kd-rq6tlhave you checked out Fire and Blood? The amount of Targaryens that are batshit cruel bastards is EXTREMELY high, nearly half and that's only so low because if you count ALL Targs, you have to count the stillborns, the ones who died as children, the bastards and so forth. There have been some truly great magnanimous Targaryens...like Aenys...but hate to break it to you, they're EASILY on the higher tier of "Evil" families, right up there with the Boltons
It's always double standards with Dany. It's like people expect her to fight wars with hugs and pancakes. The people she killed literally just killed almost everyone in High Garden. Why isn't there outrage about that? Fuck the Tarlys!
the double standards comes from the writers bringing in 21st century morality into the script this season. It makes no sense. They just don't know how to make a BELIEVABLE moral conflict that feels like it fits the world established in the last 6 seasons.
It's the writers' faults. She flipped so fast to do these things that it feels strange. Yes, she is supposed to become this way, but it happened so quickly and it's done in a way that it just feels like it's happening just so things can happen. Not enough cause and effect, just effect. That's why it feels strange.
Perhaps the double standard comes from the fact that Dany is armed with a nuclear bomb while everyone else has only arrows and spears?? It makes her look like a bully...or simply a conqueror (as Daario called her). The fact that she's so ready to use them not only to win the throne, but to rule by fear, means that she's not breaking the wheel at all... she's just continuing the Targaryan legacy.
I know right. Ppl think beheading ppl is okay but burning them and them dying in like seconds is worse. When in reality, THEY COULDNT BURN ppl but Dany can. Bc she is a TARGARYEN with DRAGONS. She's the DRAGON QUEEN. Its so embarrassing to see how the Geks and some other reactors think Dany is wrong. SHE IS IN A WAR. They just killed 2 of her strongest allies and their men (or most of their men). But when Dany does it, its a big problem. JON decimated the bolton soldiers but ohhhh thats fine bc boltons deserved it they stole Winterfell from house Stark! Yeah Lannisters/Baratheons stole the Red Keep from Dany's family as well. Such a dumb group of ppl
Why is Dany giving her enemies a choice between surrender and death a problem? The other option is to let them fight for Cercei and kill them in the battle. So, isn't it better to offer mercy if they switch sides?

The Tarlys deserved everything they got, they were literally her enemies who took up arms against her and she still gave them a chance to denounce Cersei and admit defeat.
I sincerely can't stand the double standard everyone holds Dany to. She is at war and this is the enemy. She's already done more than any other enemy would've, by offering them the chance to bend the knee. Why on Earth would she not execute them? The Tarlys are to the Tyrells what the Boltons were to the Starks.
Not just that but the Tarlys were hypocrites standing by their "relatively new" queen who was born in westeros. They act all high and mighty with morals but lets not forget they just backstabbed and murdered their lord paramount House Tyrell who they had sworn fealty for generations. Not to mention it was Cersei who murdered the tyrells as well. I for one was glad Dany burnt their asses.
well Aegon the conqueror DID use his dragon and his sisters dragons to sumbit armies and men. Daenerys is doing the same here, Aegon also killed lords who would not bend the knee and replaced them with loyal men from other houses. You dont conquer a continent by asking nicely. Also the Tarlys are traitors who turned on the Tyrells. Also the forced Arya and Sanca argument, so annoying
@@NovaLena22 she's also doing what Jon did. Taking her kingdom by force. With armies. If Jon had a dragon he'd use it to take back winterell. No difference. Aegon the Conqueror burned those who wouldn’t bend the knee. Daemon did the same in the show. So why is Daenerys expected to spare her enemies? I don’t understand. It sounded like Carter actually defended Dany a bit by saying her executing the Tarlys was like Jon executing Janos Slynt and I'd say that's a good comparison. I mean, she gave them the opportunity to bend the knee multiple times or die and they didn't. I'm surprised that y'all seem to hate on season 5 more and more as time goes by. I get some of the hate, especially for the Dorne plot, but Idk other than that I didn't have as much issues with season 5 as you guys did. To each their own though. 🤷🏽♀️
S5 was just a bleak and brutal season. Very unpleasant with very few highs. But I get why people still enjoy it, especially with Jon’s story really taking off.
It's not the same thing at all. Slynt was his own man who disobeyed. It would be like Dany executing an Unsully or a Dothrki. Here she burned a prisoner of war. Also I would most people view either Season 5 or 8 as their worst one.

"Aegon burned & conquerored so it's ok Dany does!" NO. Both are wrong for burning people that don't want to follow them! Especially when she claims she is different and not queen of the ashes. She claims to break the wheel but she does the same as all her previous ancestors. Her example of Jon killing Ramsey's men hand to hand is not comparable to burning people that are loyal to their country.
I actually like the way the TV show treats it like an irrelevant fact, glossed over and ignored by Sam. I am however surprised how many reactors miss it's significance. I remember the first time I watched it, I thought, 'Shit, that means that...'
Lmao people bashing Daenerys makes no sense... She's been literally doing what any Targaryen does, even Jon and Robb have killed so many men... It's just that till now Daenerys (or any other protagonist) killed people who were antagonist...but S07 onwards Daenerys has started killing 'grey' characters which is making people piss off If there were no scenes or backstories of these grey characters, people won't even have cared. I just see lots of misogyny, a woman is expected to win by LOVE, meanwhile a man is allowed to win by WAR.
We’ve seen Dany kill plenty of people who deserved it like the Masters and such, I think she is built up as this Savior who will do things differently, hence the whole “break the wheel” thing and from what everyone says of her she would go about things differently. I have hindsight of the end of the show obviously but Dany is obviously not perfect.
You can criticize Danny, even if she is a woman. Crying misogyny is the same as crying racism. Everyone will roll their eyes not take you seriously. All of this is less about her being a woman and more about her being a Targaryen. Crying misogyny makes me think you believed Amber Heard over Johnny Depp.
The funny thing is this episodes outro was about 15 minutes longer. Carter had complaints and the guys called him out on his reactions recently and there was an argument. It’s on Patreon still.
What doesn't make sense though? Did Tyrion see Shireen dragged to the post and wasn't sad about it? Honest question. What are you saying should make sense?
If you guys have a hard time understanding why Dany had to kill her enemies who refused not one but two options that she gave them when she's literally fighting a war but are completely fine with a man doing the same thing in the same situation (especially Jon), maybe you need to take a step back and realize why you have such double standards.

Not really a Dany fan here especially with how they wrote the character in S7 and S8, but tbf the scene where they burned those who didn't bend the knee kinda made sense. LOL Daenerys will always be my favorite Targaryen (yes, I read the books) but this is always an interesting turning point because people are all for fire and blood, their house words until they see it in action. This is what Aegon the Conqueror, Rhaenys, and Visenya did when they came to take Westeros. This will be what happens in House of the Dragon during the war. If you have a dragon and people want you to use it then use it. However, it's tough to watch for people who appreciate history and these families have a long history but that's what they ultimately chose to do. Also, these men betrayed their liege lords anyway by turning against House Tyrell so they would have been beheaded anyway.
It's something to learn about conquest through the vale of history and see it as glorious until it happens for real and then you're like holly shit, this is not good. lol I'm sure people saw Napoleon as this great conqueror unti World War 2 happened and they saw it upclose with Hitler and saw it in a much more negative light.
Yeah it is so annoying to hear people whine about Dany killing people but it’s literally a war which is what happens in war and furthermore people throughout the entire series are getting murdered for no real reason but no one complains about it. Also all those who still whine about season 7 and 8, I mean what is the point??? Many of us enjoy the entire series and love it and are true fans but those who go to every reactor and complain about season 7&8 is truly over kill just weird even. Everyone has their own views and love the entire show.
That battle was over, they surrendered. Robb literally says "I'm not here to slaughter man in chains" to Roose Bolton when he suggested flaying the survivors. Being at war doesn't make it right to slaughter surrendered soldiers.
I find it so funny how people expect Daenerys to be sweet and innocent throughout the whole series. After everything she went through, of course she would change. But maybe seeing her be commanding and powerful isn’t as appealing for some.
After reading the later books, A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons, the downfall of this show after season 4 is all the more painful than it already was. If David and Dan had literally just followed George’s expanding story then it would’ve been a perfect show from start to finish. The butchering of the Dorne plotline in S5 and 6 and the complete omission of fAegon ultimately ruined the end of the show. The Lannisters still being in power in King’s Landing after Cersei blowing up the Sept without consequence is laughably stupid, along with her just becoming the literal ruling Queen of Westeros even though she isn’t even in the line of succession
they should've included some of that banter with carter at the end. that was peak conflict between the boys and more entertaining than the actual episode. at least its still on patreon

Same. I was genuinely invested in rewatching S1-4, to the point that I had to watch twice just to see the guys' reactions. But for Season 5 to now, I'm watching purely to see how the guys react to the big moments 😅
"Thought you might still be rowing" is one of the best in-show tongue in cheek references to an internet meme I've ever seen on a TV show. If you aren't aware, there was an ongoing meme about the whereabouts of Gendry's infinite rowing in the show since that was the last time he was seen.
12:03 The kind of "memberberries" I talked about under a previous video. They literally add nothing to the plot and are only there to remind the viewer of past glories of the show. There should be conflict between Davos and Tyrion because of this, but nothing ever comes of it. 12:38 is another "memberberry" of Jaime reminding the viewer of what he said in season 5, but again, fake conflict. Just bad writing all around.
Arya is stupid as hell. She’s projecting her version of how she saw and thought of Sansa growing up, which isn’t accurate. Sansa is doing her duties and responsibilities as a political figure, something Arya can’t seem to comprehend cuz her answer to everything is to kill. This storyline is also just flat out lazy and stupid and ruins Arya’s character.
Its been quite a while since Tyrion's character was assassinated. And it makes sense, he is simply too smart in the books for his own good, and when they ran out of his source material, the show writers seriously couldn't replicate what George Martin did with him. It is what it is, but yeah, a few of the key characters are unfortunately assassinated by the end of the series. It sucks, but we simply must accept it. There is only one George Martin. Also, every season is better than S05. Although even that is debatable vs half of the season 8 for sure.
I love y’all’s reactions. I appreciate you taking us along the journey again with you. Lately though, the constant comparisons to past seasons, spoilery prior knowledge of episode ratings, and constant fast traveling complaints are really sucking the enjoyment levels out of these. Being in the present and experiencing these episodes as they are would make for a far more enjoyable, and entertaining experience for y’all, and us. There are critiques, plot holes, rushed story telling, and deus ex machina at work. Be critical, say what you like and don’t, but get over the obvious themes they were forced to use. These seasons are rushed. The dialogue is mostly D&D hash work. The world is massive, and convenience to story telling will speed the rate of travel and transitions. Accepting those things will allow you to at least get the most out of the journey you’re still on, instead of begrudging the sign posts as you limp across the finish.
It sucks because they have this pre-conceived notion that "After S6, GOT gets bad" so they are just waiting for it to get bad, and picking out all the little issues, rather than forming their own opinions about the actual on-screen events. I get that it's impossible to avoid the discourse around a show as big as this one, but they could definitely at least stop looking up episode rating beforehand, that seems so unnecessary. The last two seasons are still good television, they just aren't *as* good as the first few.
I agree. I love their reaction. Basically the only reaction channel I watch because they actually understand the nuance of things. Yeah people talked in the comments about the later seasons and how they aren't written as well. But it's our fault as commentors. It's also the fault of the writers. Things are off in the show so they are going to react to that. (It's a reaction channel). It's that same thing happening that happened when the show came out. People didn't like the later seasons, so why should they. They're giving their honest opinion from what they see in the seasons that are rush, compressed, where things happen just to happen, plot holes, characters not being written as their character. Poorly written scripts cause confusion and upset. Especially after the show has been so good. They do talk about the good and they talk about the bad. The bad just stands out so much because it didn't need to be bad and it's so abrupt. You're doing the same exact thing that you're complaining about them doing. You're sucking the enjoyment out of this.
yeah just watch carter chill like this 😑 the entire episode and even after the episode when they are all talking and giving their thoughts he just sits there like 😑 it’s so annoying. he wants to be so cool and not like the episodes because of the reviews they knew going in. like bro just watch the damn show and have your own take on it without trying to go along with online reviews. the pacing of the season is super fast but in real time when we watched these shows it was way more enjoyable than a rewatch where you critique every little thing

From season 6, things are kind of just happening, the writing is nothing like the first seasons when everything was perfectly set up. In the last 2 seasons, it's like they just wrote a list of "epic" things people were gonna like, and made these things happen without proper set up, it feels flat, unbelievable, inconsistent, and stupid I would say
I'd say that for regular tv, season 7 is good, but in comparison to the rest of the series which is regarded as the best tv show of all time, it just doesn't compare well.
Last Episode they were cheering Daenerys using her dragon and now she's the Mad King? Tyrion burned men with Wildfire, Sansa fed Ramsay to Dogs and Arya tricked Walder Frey into eating his own sons, none of that made them the Mad King
Those are responses to personal attacks. Dany is calling herself liberator and executing people who don’t want to live under her rule. She’s a walking contradiction

Refuse to kneel in front of a dragon at your own risk. Dany don't bluff. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ There's an "assembling the team" element to this episode that is really fun. But holy crap characters are teleporting all over the place. The stupidest complaint more like bitching about these seasons to me is the "teleportation" claims. It has to be the most ridiculous crying from fans ever! Talk about fans contradicting themselves saying they want top notch writing yet also needing stuff force fed to them, how so many people couldn't come to the conclusion that "time has passed between scenes/episodes" is beyond me. The most obvious one was Jon getting to dragonstone and everyone crying. "wahhh? He's here already? Wtf? HOW?" Well 1st of all it's between episodes which means even in real life we waited a week for that, but what's so hard to figure out that the amount of time that passed was however the journey is? Do they HAVE to show you characters on the road for 3 episodes just so you won't miss the fact that scenes aren't happening all in the same 1 hour time frame? Never once while watching these episodes originally did I think, "OH MAH GAOD, HOW DID THEY GET HERE FAST? TELEPORTING!?!?" In episode 4, Tyrion said they had ships left that could ferry the army to the mainland, and yet people are surprised they did just that and fought the Lannister army. "How is Tyrion here?" What do you mean he's there just like the army BY THE SHIPS smh. But the writing is the problem for people not understanding that? That criticism was only for this show, though. Not a single other series or movie has the same complaint. If a shows character said, "I'm leaving N.Y. for L.A. now" and got into his car and they cut to arriving no one would say "that was quick how tf did he get there so fast" you'd rightfully assume it's taken the amount of time for that journey and think nothing else about it. But GOT has a character leaving in 1 episode, waiting 7 days in real life, then arriving in next episode and it's mind-blowing to them how "fast that happened" and it equals the worst writing ever😂😂😂 I can give you a list of things that are wrong, and time travel wouldn't make a list whatsoever, let alone top 100 things.
Well said and so true...somewhere along the line people have lost their capacity to think. Clearly it's meant to be in a certain time frame they arrive, and they're alive. So to have many many episodes seeing their journey unfold, the "fans" would be complaining about how boring it all was. So much regurgitated hate with no substance is tiring and I really don't know why they even watch reactions to GoT if only to spoil it for everyone that actually enjoys the series - to the end!
The reason the lack of time seen while travelling was hated was because it helped maintain the pacing of the show aswell as a lot of the best character development came from moments where we’re watching characters travelling from point A to point B
Meh I'm 50/50 on this. It's annoying but when the theme song is a literal map then it's like???? Also to a lot of fantasy fans the maps are important. They like fantasy so I see why they complain about it. I think it's boring to watch people get from point A to point B but again, many fantasy fans like this. Like with me, the magic systems and how certain things came to be explained in detail is something I enjoy as a fantasy and sci-fi fan but I know many people who prefer to dive in and figure it out as they go which is also pretty valid.
I'm one of those who don't like the pacing of this season exactly for the "teleportation" issue. And it's not because I don't understand that time passes between scenes, it's because it breaks the pacing the show established in the previous seasons. In season 1 it took MONTHS for Robert to get to Winterfell and then back to King's Landing. And it was paced nicely by taking many episodes to show the full trip. Since Dragonstone is close enough to King's Landing, I'm expecting it would also take at least WEEKS to get there... but without showing anything in between, and having Jon's scenes so close to each other, that time isn't really felt. At all. It took the full season 2 for Starks and Lannister to deploy their armies and have a meaningful battle. Now there's a battle essentially every episode, without the war being larger in scale than in previous seasons. It's easy to see the writing is off for this reason, and the main culprit is this "teleportation" issue.
@@the420chimp_ So you are saying those people complaining are dumb for not knowing what they really want? or why they make dumb excuses instead of just saying what you just said?
Daenerys fans are hilarious tho trying to accuse them of double standards. Even Carter is trying to redeem himself comparing the situation of Slynt's death by Jon with the Tarlys and Daenerys. Also Jon didn't kill Slynt for insubordination "only". He killed him cause Slynt was doing treason. Slynt was on Janos side who happened to hate Jon. Slynt being "insubordinate" (im sorry if I butchered the word) was an act to make Jon look weak in the Night's Watch after the election of a new Lord Commander. Daenerys could just imprisioned the Tarlys (they would be valuable at least), instead the condition was "die" or "bend the knee (with coercion)".

Robb wanted a trade off from the lannisters- his sisters for Jaime. That is why he kept him alive and close, not because of kindness of his heart. It it weren't for his sisters held hostage in King's Landing, Robb wouldn't have put up with Jaime at all. Dany doesn't need to keep Tarly's alive, they destroyed their own liege lords (the Tyrells), and burning the Tarly's would've sent better message to other smaller houses who wished to support Cersei. If Dany makes exceptions because they were noble lords, then every house would think that it's alright to go against Dany- as she will give them a chance to capitulate, and at worst they'll only be punished leniently.

Just one thing PLEASE: if you don't like Tyrion as much as you did in first seasons, DON'T BLAME THE WRITERS!!!! Characters can become smarter, wiser but they can also fail even if they were good. Just because Tyrion was smarter in previous seasons he now has a reason why he can fail Daenerys: he's fighting against his family and he loves his family. He wants to win wars with diplomacy but it's not possible. remember this before you talk about bad writing because it's not. what he does is consistent with what he always did
You're spot on. I never understood why people didn't like Tyrion's decisions in these last 2 seasons. He's literally trying to save his family while fighting against them. That's got to be tough.
sorry, but there's nothing else but to blame the writers. They didn't understand the characters at all and since there wasn't any original to adapt from anymore, they projected their own ideas into everything. The actors even said at one point the characters they've been playing for so many years changed beyond reason. Yes, there is this one dilemma Tyrion is facing, but then there's another and another, until the end. Bad writing is also, not having a coronation for Daenerys before her declaring herself as the queen, because she's not now, she hasn't got any allies or pledges here, unlike like in Mereen etc. Tarlys weren't rebels or traitors, SHE invaded Westeros. Once a dynasty changes (from Targaryen to Baratheon here), it has to change back by coronation and it didn't. Tyrion should've worked on that and also, all this problems should've been taken into consideration before she sailed off to Westeros. Just like Jon is knowing what's coming, but he doesn't act at all right now, he knows the one weekness of the white walkers and does not think about it?...

the double standards comes from the writers bringing in 21st century morality into the script this season. It makes no sense. They just don't know how to make a BELIEVABLE moral conflict that feels like it fits the world established in the last 6 seasons.
It's the writers' faults. She flipped so fast to do these things that it feels strange. Perhaps the double standard comes from the fact that Dany is armed with a nuclear bomb while everyone else has only arrows and spears??
The Lannisters still being in power in King’s Landing after Cersei blowing up the Sept without consequence is laughably stupid, along with her just becoming the literal ruling Queen of Westeros even though she isn’t even in the line of succession
shut up bro and let them watch tf

Watching this new and hearing 'Thought you might still be rowing' was hilarious because it had actually been years for watchers by the time Gendry came back
"Aegon burned & conquerored so it's ok Dany does!" NO. Both are wrong for burning people that don't want to follow them!
Especially when she claims she is different and not queen of the ashes. Plus a main issue is she is basically a foreigner with a foreign army. She doesn't have any ties to Westeros other than her Mad King father. The people don't want her & more of the same. She claims to break the wheel but she does the same as all her previous ancestors. Her example of Jon killing Ramsey's men hand to hand is not comparable to burning people that are loyal to their country.

So many great quotes in this episode, love it. The reactions is nice too. 😁
Not sure if somebody already told this but at the time Gendry's actor tweeted "Still rowing" when he didn't show up for seasons and it was so funny.
D & D are not smart enough to write smart characters. So guys like Tyrion and Varys and Baelish became very dumb after Season 4.
These episodes were leaked a week before their release.
So you should mimic the experience and release the reactions a week early.
Dying to dragonfire would legit be near-instantaneous. You'd have 3rd degree burns on your bones before your brain even registered the pain
No way you are defending the bad writing... wtf
People defending Daenerys' relentless quest for power, killing whoever gets in her way. I even understand that she burned the Tarlys, but this just proves that she is nothing different from previous rulers, she never wanted to break the wheel, she wanted to BECOME THE WHEEL. This seems like a very hypocritical speech, for someone who is doing the same or worse than their ancestors.
its not about defending her, fine - lets say she's the same as everyone else, he point is the boys are criticinsg her as if she's worse than everyone else and she isn't lmao, people forget so quickly what the Lannisters have done and been doing for 5 seasons, what even the Starks have done like lmao, the Freys, the boltons.....
@@lx1787 It is not possible to compare the Starks' revenge with the massacres perpetrated by Daenerys. However, I saw nothing wrong with her killing Randyl Tarly. He could have spared Dickon, who seems to be a good person, as it is possible to see that Sam speaks fondly of him, but it is still understandable.
But I refer to the speech about "breaking the wheel", it really doesn't make sense to her anymore, what she is offering is just another form of oppression. If she really wanted a more just world, listening to the people's wishes, she would start by leaving the north independent, as the northmen seem to love and respect the Starks.

When did they find out that Jon was a Targaryen? Or are they making speculations? If so, does anybody know when they did that?
The stupidest complaint more like bitching about these seasons to me is the "teleportation" claims. It has to be the most ridiculous crying from fans ever! Talk about fans contradicting themselves saying they want top notch writing yet also needing stuff force fed to them, how so many people couldn't come to the conclusion that "time has passed between scenes/episodes" is beyond me.
The most obvious one was Jon getting to dragonstone and everyone crying. "wahhh? He's here already? Wtf? HOW?"
Well 1st of all it's between episodes which means even in real life we waited a week for that, but what's so hard to figure out that the amount of time that passed was however the journey is? Do they HAVE to show you characters on the road for 3 episodes just so you won't miss the fact that scenes aren't happening all in the same 1 hour time frame?
Never once while watching these episodes originally did I think, "OH MAH GAOD, HOW DID THEY GET HERE FAST? TELEPORTING!?!?"
In episode 4, Tyrion said they had ships left that could ferry the army to the mainland, and yet people are surprised they did just that and fought the Lannister army. But GOT has a character leaving in 1 episode, waiting 7 days in real life, then arriving in next episode and it's mind-blowing to them how "fast that happened" and it equals the worst writing ever😂😂😂
I can give you a list of things that are wrong, and time travel wouldn't make a list whatsoever, let alone top 100 things.

@@zeroknight4517 they made the characters. it's not possible they didn't understand them and please don't tell me "no, Martin made them" because we know the TV show is BASED on the books but there are many differences, even in the earlier seasons.
