Tyrion did nothing but fail since he met danny. The slave masters, the attack on castelry rock, trusting cersei (who tf would do that, him of all people?) and I'm aware they're ahead on Patreon so it's not a spoiler.

This was the episode that just showed the plot armour go off the rails. It felt like they focused waaay too much on the spectacle and forgot that they were making a Game of Thrones episode and not the next Avengers movie. I always liked that before in this show, the good guy isn't guaranteed to win - think back to Ned, Rob or Oberyn. If the odds aren't favourable, they'll probably die, and no plot armour or deus ex machina will swoop in to save them.

    • @superkoopatrooper4879
      @superkoopatrooper4879 6 часов назад +2

They could of made it work but they stopped caring imo. During the battle with Ramsey last season, they should of showed him getting downed and getting back up over and over. leaning into the plot armor because the LoRdOfLiGhT keeps bringing him back/protecting him. Every time he gets downed and gets up again, people from Ramsey's side switch etc. (que epic music). Prophecy and destiny could of been the perfect justification. Maybe in was implied, it probably was, but clearly it was done poorly if nobody picked up on it.

Not only Dany, but several characters have become unpleasant in these last 2 seasons. Simply because the 2 main showrunners rushed to finish the series quickly and did it in a crappy way, without considering the entire story built up until then. Everything only gets worse in season 8. Jon and Dany were many people's favorite characters, and both were harmed by a ridiculous script.

40:00 Much time passed but not enough. This episode is epic but full of nonense things: these are just few but i found many when i watched (and rewatched) the episode:
1 - The ice can't be that strong to sustain all undeads at the same time. It seems like less than a day have passed. Something between 12 and 20 hours. it's not enough
2 - Why don't they just break the ice around the rock instead of fighting?
3 - i don't know the raven's speed but let's say it's 150km/h (that is a lot). if the wall is 300 miles wide, then Dragonstone is around 1750 miles (2800 km) away from eastwatch. this means a raven would take 18 hourse to get there. Then we have the dragon that is slower than a bird, specially if they have to carry a person (not because of its weight but because a person can't fly a high speed or it would fall..it's hard to stay stable on the dragon). So let's say 60 km/h for Daenerys...it's 47 hours! so we have65 hours only of flights, not counting she had to find the exact spot when she arrive in the area, not counting they are a not at Eastwatch but further, not counting Gendry had to walk back
4 - Dragon's fire are not breaking the ice?
5 - When Benjen arrives he says "there's not time"...what? they had time to go both on the horse. Even if it would be still stupid, at least say "The horse is weak, he can't carry us both"
6 - But this could be even avoided if Jon would stay down until the undeads were gone away...just a couple of minutes to gather some strenghts back
But even with all (and more) of these stupid things happening....i loved this episode for the dialogues at beginning and when Daenerys arrives, with the fire and the MUSIC, is just epic..one of the best (short) moments of GoT

Its episodes like this where I think back to episode 1, Cersei telling Robert "We've been on the road for months"
Starting at season 5, nobody is on the road for months anymore. You can get from any two points in all of Westeros and beyond in the span of one episode, and never once is it implied that months have passed between episodes. Dragonstone to beyond the wall is 2/3's the length of Westeros, and Daenerys travels that in presumably a few hours. Unless dragons fly as fast as F-22 Raptors, its taking her weeks

When this episode aired, a few weeks since the episode when Jon and Dany first met, several 'fan fiction' stories had been written which imagined, for instance, both of them riding the dragons to get to see the Wall, from Dragonstone. And everyone in those forums had a very accurate idea of how long it would take (about 3 or 4 days). So you have a big portion of the fandom (I don't say a majority, but many people, nevertheless) who know Westeros better than the show writers, and it really was a big disappointment to get to this episode and its plot. Really, and the rest of the show goes just worse and worse.

The beginning of the glaringly obvious horrific writing... so many "WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?" moments... in season 1 we have a whyt at castle black, simply a body turned intot a whyt (the one john saves commander mormont from), yet now we have forgotten that we can just take any dead body near the wall? Next, extra 1 2 3 4 dies early on in the expedition, why not take their body home? Next, why would it matter if cersei cares about this or not? GO and wipe her out already, then deal with this.... Gendry able to run back the entire journey they just did, and a raven fly at the speed of light to get to dragonstone and dany to get there all in one day/night... John snow, plot armor to fuck, falls in ice cold sub zero water and survives, benjen ex machina to the rescue can just sail through 1000s of whites with his flail to save the day. The dragons also had more color to them. Viserion was like a cream and gold and Rhaegal was green.

**WAYS TO FIX THE CHEESE IN THIS EP SO IT COULD BE A 9.9:**
    1. Have one more npc brotherhood warrior struggling under wights that Jon was trying to save as a reason why he kept fighting instead of getting on drogon at the end, would be in character for Jon to still prioritise everyones life no matter their npc’ness, or have it be one of the main guys that die so it feels like the stakes are back as well and the plot armor is gone
    ---
    2. Show the night king taking time to make the spear initially which gives dragons enough time to do damage and be epic, and gives drogon time to be on the ground while they are climbing on him
    ---
    3. Instead of the random massive chains being the ropes that pulled Viserion out, make it so the ropes are made of the undead themselves/their bones/clothes etc, (bit out there still but for sure more sense and creepier than chains as it shos the walkers are resourceful also) OR just not have Viserion sink and show some more sad dying shots etc. like wights surrounding him and stabbing away the wound, he’s still trying to burn them away as he dies but eventually his flame is snuffed out.
    ---
    4. More accurately convey the time passing that they were stuck on that rock through the night and day, like some dialogue about how they’ve not eaten, or they’ve run out of food (maybe a joke from Tormund/Hound bout eating the wight idk just ideas to make this specific information be less obvious exposition, doesn’t need to be this). Anyway, this is something that should be clearer because It’s not unbelievable to fly to Dragonstone and back in 24 hours (context if you look at westeros as the UK it takes a plane just over 2 hours to fly from Aberdeen to London aka north to south)
    ---
    5. Have Benjen come and help gendry straight away to get to the wall faster on his horse, and reveal he’s been following them in secret to look out for them, then it‘s less surprising and more euphoric why he comes back to help jon from the water and escape in the end, and also removes the cheese of gendry full on sprinting the whole way. Could maybe show some shots about someone following them through that start of the ep but not revealing who etc.
    ---
    6. When they capture the wight and Jon kills the walker, don’t have all but one of them die, show majority of them dying and good few still left that they then beat, makes it easier to connect the dots that this walker didn’t turn those ones and saves viewer frustration, especially when Jorah confirms it with Jon later anyway
    ---
    7. The bear scene was cool but considering how much budget went into it and how they effectively had to choose between the dragons and ghost etc, would rather have had ghost along for the ride - but that’s just my personal opinion - it’s just a nitpick nothing serious
    ---
    8. SUMMARY - I want to say that I am not a writer, I don’t have to deal with pressures from studios, scheduling, budgets, unexpected accidents or errors/delays that happen in the moment maybe making a scene not possible to be filmed in time as it was envisioned etc., so this may have been easier for me to see, especially as I’m just nitpicking in hindsight and not writing the full season from scratch. Cause things a lot of the time make sense on paper but not in practice, as seen through the whole last seasons.
    ---
    9. The points above still keep the narrative exactly as it is within the 7 ep pacing, and are just little things that I at least believe were very possible to have been included to make the ep better - music, acting, VFX, SFX, cinematography still were all perfect as usual from GOT, the crew for this and HOTD deserve more recognition.

Everyone hating on their reactions and claiming they’ve already seen it seems to forget just how many theories were flying thick and fast by this stage when we all watched it live. They’re bound to get a lot of things right. They’re still missing a lot of things too.
The biggest issue with the last couple of seasons is D&D seemed to just run on a mixture of fam service and trying to subvert expectations, just because, and it didn’t work. Sooo much plot armour to keep certain characters alive despite stupid decisions that would’ve got other characters killed off.
There’s still good moments here y there, but it’s definitely declined already by the time you get here.

Instead of the giants, the budget went to a polar bear zombie because that is what D&D said they wanted since the beginning. Its so stupid they shoehorned this in. Makes you question, where are all the other zombie animals (mainly dogs & wolves)...

Every questionable decision from now on happens only because D&D wanted to get rid fast of Game of Thrones. Back then, they were invited to direct a new trilogy of Star Wars. However they massively screwed up with GoT and the whole thing was called off. But both George Martin AND HBO wanted to have two more seasons to finish the series properly. Dragons refused to fly over the wall before, so there is no way Daenerys would be able to bring her both dragons there.

Jon's plot armor didn't even have to be that thick, Benjen could have showed up whenever they came north. I think they put Jon in that situation so they could kill Benjen off in as little screen time as possible. If he showed up when the group was still together there would have had to be at least several lines to explain he's Jon's uncle and what happened to him and he wouldn't have had the means to make them all leave quickly and not ask questions like he could to Jon alone by giving him his horse.

This episode made no sense. Why would Jon keep fighting those walkers when everyone was on the dragon and those wights next to it wouldn’t have even affected Drogon? Viserion didn’t need to die. Jon kinda caused all this death and I’m confused why. Now the Night King has a leg up and for what? He could have hopped on and left with Daenerys instead of being fake brave 💀💀 RIP Viserion, Thoros AND Benjen. And on top of that, Arya blaming Sansa for Ned’s death AND threatening to kill her? They’re sisters. I get being angry, but at the end of the day they’re Starks. Ned would have never wanted this infighting. And Arya would never hurt Sansa in the books?! I’m lost

I just wonder why did they go so deep in north to catch a white walker. They established that very early in the show that who dies in north, wakes up as walker so they could have just put a dead body in a cage and it would have woken up as a walker, this whole quest wasn't necessary.

The problem with Arya is that the writers themselves, apparently, didn't know what to do or how to portray her. As the books ended, so did the idea of what should happen to these faceless people, what their ultimatum motives are, and what Arya turns into
By the way, one of the funny questions is not exactly how they could attach chains to a dragon - dead people don't swim, but they can walk on the bottom, right? Anyway, where did they get the giant chains? There don't seem to be many forges in the land of eternal winter.
