    Farewell Gruesome Gulch! I loved all the whimsical details, the ghosts and skellies and effects and sounds. My favorites were the river of souls and the skeleton train. Can't wait to see how the new Thunder Mesa layout evolves.

    The Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship and Restaurant at Disneyland was one of my fondest memories growing up. If you go with the Skull Rock and Neverland I am already an instant fan as I was when you added Rainbow Ridge!!! So many good memories brought back by your amazing art!!!

    Dear Dave, off to the never ending railroad of hunting grounds! Awesome angles from the Gruesome Gulch! Love the Peter Pan Neverland idea. HoN30 might just be the right scale to create a small dog bone around a bay. Also, when we’re talking Never Neverland, there may crop up the necessity of designing some really cool traction, magical traction of course. Cheerio

    You could always do a port town. trains taking trade products from boats inland. perhaps the pirates have a secret cove around the corner from the port (maybe with a cheeky makeshift station platform for when they want to go intown for the tavern.. or to stumble back from it)

    Regarding the new project ideas, one thought that came to me when you mentioned pirates and steam trains was the idea of River Pirates. Perhaps something more Deep South themed, inspired by the works of Mark Twain, Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn. Something like keelboats flying the Jolly Roger emerging from a swamp to attack unsuspecting steamboats.
    As for the Neverland Railroad idea, that could be interesting to see in HOn3, especially if you maybe step a bit out of your usual oeuvre and lean toward something a bit more British themed where rolling stock is concerned. There's a fair bit available now from Peco, Kato, and Bachmann Branchline, plus of course Bachmann USA's own Skarloey Railway series from their Thomas & Friends line; just remove the faces and you've got some decent Welsh prototypes to work from. Or if you want to keep it more American, take a look at Fourdees Limited and some of the fantastic 3D printed bodies they make for the recent Kato Ffestiniog Railway "Prince" chassis, a couple of which transform this Welsh wonder into a wannabe Porter.

  • @davidwalker1130
    @davidwalker1130 7 месяцев назад

    for a neverland pirate ship and train combo have the train on a clear 3d printed track "fly over" the Capt Hook Ship while in the harbor.

    Hi Dave! I'm not sure what the American equivalent is but you should try 009 scale for the Neverland idea! 2 foot gauge track in 1:76 OO scale. I think the American equivalent is HOn30? I switched from OO to 009 a few years ago and never looked back 😅

    You could use a GWR 3700 Class locomotive for the Peter Pan Layout. The book is base in 1902 so steam locomotive did exist.

    Thank you for sharing! Could you please post what modle kit that is of the ship you were talking about? That would be a great ideal. I was thinking maybe a Disney type layout sorta type of thing, or movie set of pirate world ~ trains passing by. I hope you don't mind if I use your ideal, it sounds like fun. I would really like to build a ship like that is firing on the fort on the ride.

      This is the kit: www.bonanza.com/items/like/1522580002/Revell-Caribbean-Pirate-Ship-1-72-Level-2-Skill-Level-SEALED

    I have had an idea about building a railroad based on the Aulani Disney Resort. The resort has a great backstory for their pool area and there is a train the runs through the Ko Olina resort area. It would be fun to work in that tropical setting. Too bad my skills are not refined enough to actually see this through. Steal my idea if you want!

    I don't think this would be your cup of tea but Disney have done a lot of space rides in the past. It would be interesting to see you do a spaceport or something on another planet. It would give you a chance to do something completely different. I bet you could make some amazing structures using the laser. Sorry to see GGRR go Dave, I love that layout.

    Oh, there is A MINOR difference on the Captain Hook Pirate ship at Disneyland and the Revell kit. The Disneyland ship had a mermaid figurehead, the kit doesn't. Remember, that "ride" was sponsored by Starkist Tuna. The kit claims to be 1/72nd scale, but I think that is a very loose claim...

    Apologies to thecsongv"Spanish Ladies) 😂
    Pirates?? What if you used Kato drive units and built "Sail powered trains"? Similar to the ride cars in Disney's "Peter Pan's Flight"? The Revell kit is still available, too. Also, Zvezda, " does a 1/72 scale "Medieval Long boat" that looks like a ships boat from "Captain Blood" Not to mention Zvezda also did a 1/72nd and a 1/350 th scale kit of "the Black Pearl." Aka: "The Wicked Wench" which they also released as "The Black Swan" or "The White Swan" I forget which. Revell Germany released that kit under the Title "Pirate Ship" the only difference between the "Black Pearl" and the "Swan" is the figurehead.also there are a couple of companies that produce 1/72nd scale figures of "Pirates" or "Skeletal Pirates."😂
    I love your Idea!! I had a medical procedure last November which has lead me to decide that I will dress as a Pirate for Halloween, so your timing is fantastic!!
