It feels like after 4-5 years of market stagnation of gear, the floodgates are opening. Between Travis, GBRS, and Ferro there are more top tier belts, IFAKs, and pouches than ever before.
A lot it has to do with material development. Researching and developing lighter, more durable materials, takes awhile. After those materials are developed, manufacturers now have to implement those materials into their products, and possibly make new products based on those materials. What we're seeing more of nowadays, are manufacturers getting more involved in the development of those materials. I had an idea for a belt system, but I doubt anyone would listen to me, or it would criticized for being too heavy.

Have you used the pouch with combloc AK mags yet? I also noticed the MP2s are terrible for combloc AK mags. Wondering if this pouch works for those mags. Thanks.
@@Gio-od7if I haven't had a lot of time with steel mags in the belt mag pouch because the combloc steel is the only exception where I do not use the MP2 inserts for in my D3CR Micros. You can take the MP2 insert out if you need to use combloc steel mags in the SRMP and use the shock cord as retention. The top slab portion protruding perfectly fills the gap below the indexing point of the MP2 and has no room for the insert to pry itself open to allow clearence, thus the combloc steel mag gets stuck. I personally use G-Code Soft-Shell Scorpions for comblock steel mags.

@@Gio-od7if I have used their magazine pouch. Just take the MP2 out, and you can run a 20rd 7.62x39 Pmag with the bungee tab. Sadly, you will have to replace the shock cord for longer shock cord, if you wish to run 30rd mags.

I was going to get the g code softshell scorpions but I’d rather have the option of running my AR or AK without having to change mag caddies. Glad this video popped up when it did.
That textured rubber has been used in one of my favorite pieces of gear, the WOTG covert belt. It's got elastic bands that act as mag pouches lined with the dot texture rubber to really secure them. I love the new products homie, those mag pouches should even fit my hipster ass vz58 mags!
I need some of these. Been having issues with my Esstac's. Basically having to work around the pouches instead of them working around me and I'm so over it. I'm Canadian so mag inserts often don't work well in the cold, they lose their flex and just death grip the magazine. What I excites me about these is the same thing I like about my Haley chest rig. When it's winter time I can take those suckeres out and use the bungees. Mission dictates kit and it looks like you built a real winner of a design.
I emailed them and they said that they don’t make them anymore because MARSOC switched to Multicam and that they had them a few years ago... it sucks ik I’m in the same boat as you
I recently bought the double pistol mag and I gotta say, I'm not a fan. The black rubber material inside is way to "sticky" and it almost keeps you from pulling out the magazine at all. They may have gone a little overboard on the material on both sides. I've been using esstac kiwi's for years and I've never had any issues drawing the mag out. I wanted to try these because I know how much work and thought Travis puts into his gear, but unfortunately I feel like the pistol pouches are not for me. I do still have the carbine mag on order.

If I see correctly, it looks like your upcoming belt will have a web of normal 1 inch molle in the space between the 2 rows of half inch molle? That would enable compatibility with a lot of different products and mounting options out there. I also see the same belt serving as a cumberbund on a plate carrier that I don't recognize. Subtle hints of a new plate carrier in the pipeline?

@@breakingcomedytv i think it's a bad idea for various reasons. First laser cut improved in years but will always be weaker than a quality stitched molle webbing, that one being also reparable. It particulary tends to get damaged when between 2 hard surfaces (here it'd be kydex insert vs. ground). Probably why ESSTAC choose regular molle webbing on their KYWI mag pouches in the age of highspeed goonsquad gucci laser cut. Second, if worn on your belt, why would you want to add something above a mag pouch ? Molle on Molle always been super bulky and annoying everywhere but on the beltline it's maybe the worst. For heavy needs in ammo, hard-sewn pouches or double-stacked are available and will be more effective after hours (days) fighting and maneuvering. If worn on the chest (here i would understand the need to stack admin or else above mags) i may suggest having mags pouches that can actually protects them from environnement. Going prone, crawling and all the shit can and will damage everything worn directly on your front. The industry unfortunatly tends to marketize gear dedicated to highspeed sof operators, when neither grunts or prepared civilians have this type of needs. Our wars will not last 2 hours with the cover of gunships, helicopters and 75th Ranger. Reject Spiritus, Embrace belt-kits. Focus less on barrel lenght, more on sustainement, comms, community.

Stupid question but... is there a preferred way of securing the rifle mag pouches? More specifically, to a belt with MOLLE pass through (I have a Defense Mechanism Mech Belt for reference). I messed with it for a bit and seemed to have it pretty secure, but it was weird that there was no actual mechanical attachment to the belt. Appreciate anyone's help in advance.

So basically the Kywi with bungee straps that allows for all rifle mags, not just one type like 5.56, and can serve as a multi-purpose pouch.
Not like a kiwi. They use kydex. We have an injection molded insert. They make great stuff. We just wanted some more options.

One that fits my mags seems to be the benchmark. It's such a pain in the ass if you have anything other than a glock or an ar.

I can fit everything in the Esstac pistol pouches, but the 5.56 rifle ones don’t fit 7.62.
I've also found that I have to reform the kydex on Kywis if I leave my kit in a hot car. Just something to consider.
