    Excellent video, really insightful comments there! I'll go ahead and add a 7th criteria that changes everything else: protection from dust and rain.
    When playing in dusty environments, you want to avoid any from getting into your bbs, as that can eventually find its way into your gun and completely ruin accuracy, jam, and even break the thing. Wet bbs will also instantly ruin accuracy, so it's good to have a pouch that can provide a first layer of protection (although I'll go even further and tape the feed lips when playing in heavy rain)
    Neither of the designs shown provides any protection; even flap pouches leave the bbs exposed, as they have open sides.
    So when playing in these kinds of scenarios, protection from elements becomes #1 priority. Full-seal pouches (flap pouches with structured flaps that cover the sides too) are the only ones that will make the cut. They can be bulky, slow to drawn and insert, and may be loud if using velcro, but they are the only ones I'd trust for dusty / wet environments.

    Thanks for this video! I ended up getting some Tasmanian Tiger SGL pouches. Thought long and hard between these and HSGI tacos. TT pouches for sure are a lot more affordable than HSGI. Luckily in my line of work I can get either one for the same price but the distributor that carriers them is out of stock so I'll wait till they come back in stock to try them out but until then I'm sure the TT pouches will do just fine.

      The TT SGL pouches are really good and I'd say in some way better than theTaco style pouches, since we know the plastic parts can break in some cases. TT pouches don't feature this and are in that way more durable in our eyes. I Viper

    I really like using flap pouches with velcro for my GBB magazines, with them I can easily carry 8 mags on me on a very small area, the retention is amazing AND my magazines are protected from any kind of dirt.
    the louder noise of opening them isnt really a issue for me, because when I have to do that... im usually in a firefight already.
    only issue is storing magazines again when I dont have a dump pouch, so my reloads are a little longer, but for that im planning to put a larger pouch for water bottles on my LBE to store at least 3 mags quickly away.
    Due to my playstile I generally am ambushing people, there I just put some magazines infront of me and reload from there, so the negatives of flap pouches are not as big.

      @@ReconBrothers I even recently found a way to increase the reload speed from flap pouches so much that they rival your typical quick draw pouches for at least half your ammo load, And I made video on it:
      ruclips.net/video/dxut_NYpD-Y/видео.html
      Feel free to check the video out and maybe share this info on your channel as small update.
      Whith this trick the flap pouch has even less disadvantages compared to others and are actually a viable option for large milsim ops where reloading on spawn isn't possible.
      Because the only remaining issue will be putting magazines back into the pouch.

      @MartinJHarris 4 года назад +2

      @@ReconBrothers if you had to fight your way to the house they know you're coming plus the sound of GBBR and pyrotechnics the sound of ripping velcro is not an issue :) no such thing as a tactical reload... that's an Americanism, a fad word that they use... it is just a reload under a different situation, you do nothing special nothing different to a normal reload, the only real time you do a "special reload" is when there's a malfunction which is normally operator error..!
      Never during any weapon handling lesson I received in the Army did any of my instructors call a reload anything else other than a reload... even during a real fire fight did worry about my velcro pouches I used at the time.

    Also, I don't recommend Taco style pouches on belt, especially if you got issued (for the professionnal) or play (for airsofters) with body armor type vest (like the CIRAS or the French standart issue SMB - wich is my case), as the plastic can break more or less easely : I used a Templar's gear DFMR (their double fast mag rifle pouch) on my belt on the right side, behind my holster (I shoot rifle lefty but handgun righty), and first shooting session with my body armor on (the SMB), the plastic brokeon the inside mag slot, with no way to repair it. notice that ij your running with your belt only, or with low profile body armor like law enforcement, you have less risk of breaking it because you don't have the vest "pushing down" on the mag pouch

    Personally, I say a mix of different types. I personally run flap top pouches on the front of my plate carrier to keep dirt, sand, water and mud out of my magazines when prone and bungee pouches for the magazines on my sides and battle belt.

  • @galvanizeddreamer2051
    @galvanizeddreamer2051 2 года назад +1

    Just for the sake of historical statement, some older flap pouches used buttons, or even copper wire single-use hold-tabs. Albeit, the latter of those being more for disposable loose-round bandoliers that came with ammo cans, such as with 303 British and the Lee Enfield.
    Velcro is not only not silent, it is also a wear item. Eventually, it will just cease to function due to wear, and before that it can get dirty and muck up the hooks or loops.
    Those bungie pouches seem somewhat obsolete. With grip-retention pouches and holsters being standard nowadays, especially stuff like the ITW Fast MAG where people can and do mount them upside-down, I'd not sure where it would be beneficial to hinder yourself.
