The trick with the IS-4, you can overangle the side armour. Since the tank has 160 mm of side armour, you can go at 45 degree angle.
Reverse sidescraping works even better. Absolutely no weak spot.

I've had it since it was a tier 9. It ruled tier 9 with an iron fist, until becoming a tier 10.
The IS-4 has been my highest win rate tier 10 HT for a long while, even before the buffs. The armor scheme is kind of trolly, I wish that they would give it another 10 rounds of ammo, and a little love to the gun handling. It's been pretty entertaining watch you mark this tank on stream, I'm looking forward to the BC-25t streams and vids.
You should try playing kv4. You can over angle the side armor even more than is4 when playing against other tier 8. The armor combined with a sub 7 second reload for 320 alpha, and an amazingly accurate gun that snapshots better than any tier 8 heavy I’ve played, make it so fun to play.
I also very like kv4 kreslavksyi, it has ton od hp with turbo it goes 45 crazy good for ramming,also has very good sider armor for sidescraping,not a lot of people know how to pen it and shoot the side by mistake, 0,14 dispersion on move so dont need stabs,so you can use turbo, hp and rammer ,its one of most fun tanks

Dont forget that its one of the few tanks who is completely immune reverse scraping to 350 heat other than some tiny weakspots on the turret.
i used is4 to complete HT15 for T55A. its my favorite heavy. very underrated

the IS-4 was my first T10 back in 2012 and have loved it ever since, ive been away from the game for about 7 years and its nice to hear that it was adjusted a while back. still my favorite but i wish it had a bit more ammo capacity :(

I picked up the IS4 last fall and what a surprise. It is my favorite heavy for brawling situations and the only tier 10 ACE I have. I keep trying to talk my clan into using instead of E3 for holding positions in CW, because it would be just as tough with better versatility. Sure the gun isn't that accurate but I find it's consistent and doesn't troll be nearly as bad as some other HT guns. Plus good ROF and 340 heat pen are great. Thanks for the video!
I've beeeeeeen saying since the buffs this tank is great, top 5 tech tree heavy IMO and way more enjoyable than IS-7.

I remember side scraping in the IS-4 fighting against the badger. The badger was able to pen the commanders hatch and shoot gold in the front turret. IS-4 no longer felt invincible.
I literally love this tank for its crazy (reverse)sidescraping capabilities, it's such a nice vehicle
I always liked the IS-4r. Even before the buffs I had 62% win rate with it and I didnt even really play it seriously (zero prem ammo, bad crew etc) which is very good for me (I strugle at around 56-57% in tier HTs). IDK why, it is just a tank I enjoy and do well in.
However I will say that I dont think it deserves to be a Tier 10 HT. Let me explain why. The current IS-4(M) is a real life historical machine that saw active service. The gun mounted is ahistorical but the M62-T2 could easily be mounted on any machine with a 122mm D-25T (even the base IS-2). The problem is the buffed hull and turret armour - it has nothing to do with the real life IS-4 nowadays.
If I were Wargaming, id return the IS-4 to tier 9 as a reward tier 9 or prem tier 9 and make the K-2, an upcoming TIer 8 prem a tier 10. Weirdly enough that machine which was part of the IS-4 development program has better hull armour than the CURRENT buffed ahistorical IS-4 (!!!!) at tier 8!!!. Making the turret of it better and placing it a tier 10 with the M62-T2 would be a good idea... since the K-2 didnt exist IRL anyway.
This game is "supposed" to have a historical reference to every tank in the game( sad news for the T28 Prot. since it's not even real) and make sense but many of the new tanks doesn't make any sense anyway.

@@Hagurmert I dont think we need 100% historical tanks but REAL tanks should have real armour profiles and at least semi-logivcal guns.
Some fake tanks are fine as long as WG tags them as fake.

This reminds me of how I feel about the 113. Little known/used tank that's better than most would like to think.
I fukin love Kajzoo man. He’s literally the type of channel I want. Bringing to light all the underestimated tanks in the game.
I am using this tank with hardening, bounty rammer, bounty stabilizer. When I have the field modification unlocked, I will try with bounty turbo in the place of hardening as as alternative setup. My first battles were really unfortunate with this tank, something like 1 win 13 battles.
13:00 the music perfectly represents what's going on inside that tiger player's head. He cannot afford to buy a Löwe so he is proceeding to be trash in a tech tree tank

Oh yeah the IS-4 was also my first tier 10 in WoT, and I have it in War Thunder got it back when armor was actually viable in that game and wouldnt get punished by HEAT-FS. But I absolutely *love* the IS-4 in WoT, outstanding tank.

Love this tank, my first tier X and my block damage record with 18k blocked damage, is a beast if you know how to side scrape.
The bad thing is you can run out of ammo in a battle so you had to choose your shots wisely...
if good players have a problem with ammo on some tanks we need some kind of consumable with box of aditional ammo

On world of tanks console i was able to block 17,000 damage in the IS4. I was on El Halluf Defending from the north spawn. they through everything at me and I was the sole defender at the front. everyone else died. I had 2 waffen trager E100s behind me giving me cover fire and 2 Arty, i weathered the storm from 2 E4s, 268, obj 260, Is7, 121, basically their entire team. and we won. I only did 2k damage though because I already used my repair kit and my gunner and gun was damaged so no accuracy :(
the tank is a BEAST, just angle 45 degrees and most casuals will donk the shell into the tracks every time. even after bouncing multiple times
Like 1 minute ago I did with IS4 HT-15 mission with doing 7,3k damage, 9,2k comb and tbh IS4 is really great tank to play only downside is amount of ammo cause I’m ending games almost without ammo

Hey I'm still gonna say this angle st-2 like is-4 but less over angle and make it as fast as possible with only a repair kit tip:aim gun at your tracks which aim at you enemy to make lower plate and side armour same armour value then wile going at this angle wiggle the st-2
Btw reached 15.4 p/w or 17% maintain speed and 47 top with regular equip if you get bond your faster than kran definitely

This tank is incredible, however, the problem it has is the lack of ammunition that WG systematically forgets to buff. WG, nerfing tanks by reducing the ammo is absolutely idiotic, it doesn't make sense when you are top tier the majority of the time and you need 5-6 rounds to kill an enemy IS-4 and maybe 7 rounds to kill an E-100. Both IS-7 and IS-4 suffer from the same problem, they should carry 40 shells, not 30, they won't become snipers overnight because of it.
I did all missions for 279 (e) at the start played with it about 70 battles sold it... Because of non stop open maps x3 arty etc... Bought the IS-4 and i don't think i will gonna recover the Obj.279 (e) Yeah i played Obj.279 (e) back then when everyone was vaping it with HE rounds well before the HE/Arty ''re balance''... But another shiatty thing Obj. 279 (e) has that IS-4 don't... That i was getting light on fire and ammoracked from first hit (w/o damaged fuel tank and ammo rack) like ever 3rd battle... i was ammoracked about 20 times when i was playing with Obj.279 (e) from the first hit and not in to the ammo weak point... 😤 I Highly recommend to everyone do not get the Obj.279 (e) by doing the missions and loosing your nerves better grind the IS-4 🤪

I have well over 4K battles in the IS4 and I’ve loved it since it was introduced in the game. People really rage because I over angle the side and still eat shells 90% of the time.

maan, also try the tier 9 of IS-4, i use the tier 9 to complete many blocking dmg mission.
IS-4 was my first X tier. I have mixed opinions about it's "buff". It got better armor and reload by nerfed accuracy. Enemies have hard time penning you but you can also have hard time pen your enemies since it's poor accuracy (0.42 base) can troll you to the oblivion. 440 alpha is preety much medium tank alpha so I think IS-4 should have at least 0.37 base accuracy. But I will get bond turbo for ranked so I will give him another chance and try to 3 mark it. Also it's "unpenetrable turret" is actually penetrable which depends purely on RNG.

Because of the diversity of maps (aka 5 maps lul) where you need gundep, I wouldnt. But if you get Himmels or Ensk it can be great
On the RU cluster every shithole knows how to penetrate your armor. But you can get sometimes real good battles playing this tank.

With every great battle you also get tons of battles where the RNG just screws you. Like getting ammoracked in the first min of battle. Or where even the best well aimed shots just decide to hit nothing. Happens even to unicums.
IS4 is my favourite tank. In my opinion, its better than the 279 in many situations.

@kajzoo two awesome tanks I think I still like the caernarvon action x because my reload is so fast no waiting to load for more than 5 seconds and it's armor is actually good. And Tech tree I'm leaning towards is-2-II 600 damage with that double shot is so nice.
