These days, it feels like values are really out of whack. It's tough to trust people anymore, whether it's at work or in society in general. I don't know exactly when things changed, but everyone knows that having good character is important, yet it's so rare to actually find. It’s like people know it’s needed, but it’s so hard to come by these days. Thanks for sharing the video!

Ancient Greco-Roman culture had a lot in common with Vedantic culture. Forms of non-dualism also were probably taught in secret, by different groups. The reveal that "you are that" was probably the culmination of the ancient Mysteries. Later on, Christianity incorporated the bulk of those teachings but was bounded by dogma to teach the difference between creature and creator; that's because if there is no difference between creator and creature and it's just a matter of ignorance, as Plato himself implied, then there is no need for an external saviour, and the whole theological construct collapses. Yet, if God is everything that is, then it logically follows that we can't be different from God. The Eastern Churches (like the Orthodox church) recognized this and what they teach is basically Vishishtadvaita.

Brilliant Lecture! So much similarity with Bhagavad Gita and the shreyas preyas of Katho Upanishad.
Before coming to Vedanta I was a student of Stoicism. Actually, trying to apply stoicism to my life and failing to do so was the precursor to studying Vedanta. Life is harsh and good character is fragile. Doing something out of character can lead to Suffering and a risk of further erosion of character. Vedanta provides the necessary stability to "traverse the volatility" of Sanatana Dharma.
Thank you VSNY for providing a stage for speakers to express their insights and teachings. ❤

Kids? While you are able, plunge the child into peer groups, clubs, in essence, satsang where the children are likely to participate and be exposed to good models of character.
Kids listen more to their friends than their parents once they reach a certain age. It’s normal for children to seek independence from their parents as they grow up.

You can just skip the video. Shouting at them will not help you....besides that you could learn something new. Piglucci is a good Stoic philosopher
