i was sad to hear that Alan watts had an assisted death. i can only think that he was suffering with a terminal and painful condition that he had no cure for and did not want to face a long and dreadful end.

If by assisted death you mean euthanasia that's not correct. Alan committed suicide by deliberately drinking himself to death.
