      An Evolving Ape . You could def fit and the bike could handle it, but it would be uncomfortable for long distance. Really depends, I take my 6 year old for long distances, she sits in front of me, combined weight probably 280. I have had 2 adults on it several times, but it’s tight! I’ve seen weight over 400lbs on it, kind of humorous, was worried about the back tire, 2 plus sized gals :)
      I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this bike.
      Although I hear they are upgrading it in August, may want to wait a bit.

    I like the idea of all wheel drive but it looks like there would be hardly any weight on the front wheel, meaning it can only transmit a fraction of the torque that motor can produce before the wheel slips, which is indeed what the reviewer describes. It seems like a smaller motor up front might be more practical. Or a big shopping basket on the handlebars with some rocks in it haha.

    I enjoy your videos even though 1) I live in the UK so a lot of the bikes you review aren't available 2) I have no plans to buy an ebike! I like the simplicity of a push bike, though I see the benefits of an ebike for people who perhaps aren't super fit or who want to commute on a bike without getting to work sweaty. I love good design, and modern ebikes seem to be evolving so fast it is really intriguing to see the latest models.
    For me they seem a great alternative to a car if you don't live too far away from your place of work; zip through the traffic with minimum effort, and you don't have to struggle to find a parking space!👍

      You can take many precautions to prevent that. Only lock it up in plain view, preferably in an area with a lot of cameras. Use a good D-lock + cable lock combination. Two locks is always better than one. Next get a bike alarm they can be had for about $20 on Amazon and can be easily secured under the seat. If your bike is so much as nudged it will activate an alarm sequence if they don't back off. As a last form of defense you can install a GPS or Apple Tile for GPS tracking.

    A lot of issues down the road of most DIY Dual AWD. I can go on but too many to cover it go over. I did the math ➗ of certain set ups as I came up one on my own based on being practical, energy efficient, total weight of handling stress of frame and tires. I didn't make an AWD Dual motor build. Instead I took my 350watt GEAR ⚙️ and put a Turbo Boost Mode application to go over 32 mph non stop ,20 miles range pulling 150. 2000watt Gearless DD Turbo Booster. The add ons were only the throttle handle, motor and battery connectors having no extra CLUTTER MESS. I read total mph off my 350watt so no my eyes mainly on road in front of me. Total weight is 80.lbs. Using a Turbo Booster cut my energy outage by 40(% as power from both motors counter act it's others point of acceleration on my 350 Cruise Control which levels off to read 0 of 2nd motor takes over of having no heavy bearing torque off the start off point.

      If pure speed is the goal then that's great. But this ebike is twice as powerful because it is dual motor combined with a more powerful battery so going up hill you can probably do full throttle and riding through heavier offroad terrain will be easier. The battery also has more wattage hours. You also have suspension and the option of being able to ride with additional riders.

    Man I ordered two x class bikes from Ariel.. back in early April. Shipping date was supposed to be May 28.. They still haven't shipped. I was taking my vacation middle of June hoping to take those bikes to Austin.. Word to the wise.. Don't expect speedy service. Don't expect to buy what you want. No customizations allowed. You can't order what you want, unless purchased after you order online. Don't expect to be able to PAY for a bigger battery or different handlebars. They won't do it. I don't care if you want to pay, no is the answer you will get. They will let you know when they are ready to sell it to ya! Plenty of unused junk Ariel parts out there, because you HAVE to buy an extra. Nobody over there cares about people having extra parts that are brand new that you don't need or want! So far Ariel has ruined my vacation. They don't work with you to give you what you want.. I'd say they're pretty much a crap company(customer service wise), other than having a good quality product. Maybe look at a Rad bike or a Bakou.. I wish I had.

  • @ukaszjot8078
    @ukaszjot8078 4 года назад

    looks great, but:
    -why with such frame they put a very small battery on the very rear end of the bike? They could've easily fit this one or bigger one in the middle,
    -2x geared motor is OK, but it might've been interesting to use DD motor on the rear as the main one - this way would be noiseless to go around the city and front geared drive can be turned on in offroad conditions.
    -burnouts on the front wheel is not only the result of high torque, but also poor weight distribution, that's why the front actually burns the rubber more then the back.

    • @brunoadamik4835
      @brunoadamik4835 4 года назад +2

      -That same cage for the battery can already hold a 21 Ah battery. If you need more juice, just install another battery in the downtube. It's actually nice that they kept the downtube free because it's much easier to install an extra battery.
      -Why would you want to be completely silent in the city? It's better that pedestrians know that you're coming up behind them. Plus this bike isn't that loud when using rear wheel drive only.
      -Yeah I think we all know this already.

    • @videosforcatsanddogs214
      @videosforcatsanddogs214 3 года назад

      It would be much better to use a direct drive motor as a mid-drive. It will be silent (because of low rpm), not overheat, less unsprung weight and very powerful.

      @JonathanNelly 4 года назад +1

      @@limmoblack the bike is great. There's a Facebook community of other Ariel Rider folks where we share stories and stuff with each other. You'll see a lot of positive feedback on their bikes. This D-Class is a beast of a bike and looks different than most ebikes that look more like bicycles (if you're into that sort of thing). Plus for the price you get dual motors that really are a blast to have. That's what helps you get up hills or rough terrain with ease. I haven't ridden mine as much as other folks in the community but the times that I have it's been awesome.

    I'd love to know how they set up that switch for RWD/2WD. I'm thinking of upgrading my converted bike to 2WD and I have a 48V 20.3AH battery that gives me 35-50mi of range on throttle. I'd love to have some extra torque

    • @jamieniche
      @jamieniche 2 года назад

      It is actually a bit of a myth that 2wd uses alot more battery. Yes it will definitely use a but more but not as much as people think. These motors are very efficient and if two are running they just share the load. If you really want more range and power upgrading the battery is the way to go.

  • @completelystupid87
    @completelystupid87 3 года назад

    I wish they make the seat a bit longer so I can carry my gf around. The battery can be also bigger with that too. The front motor can be less power than the rear or they can mess with power distribution curve via software
