    Hi Theresa, your three words sound great! Interesting video. If I were thinking about your three words, I would probably say something like Cute, Warm, Unique. Reasons: Cute is the word you use most often to describe the happy feeling you get from your favorite outfits; you use it all the time. Warm because you prefer warm colors, your favorite looks are warm and approachable and because you often mention wanting to be warm and/or cozy. Unique because you often sew, well, unique garments, using patchwork, color blocking or silhouettes and combinations that are only found in your closet. I wouldn't have guessed you want more ruffles but I would have thought you might want more cute loungewear LOL. My own words are Contemporary, Put-together, Flexible. 😍

      I think you've definitely hit on some good things from my wardrobe. Picking only three words is just impossible. 😂 I definitely had cute on the shortlist and unique is a really good one to add. I do spend a lot of time adding personal details, and it's nice to know that people notice. Thank you!
      Your three words really paint a picture. It sounds very stylish, very chic. It's fun to hear what other people pick for themselves. Thanks for sharing!

    I love hearing your thought process and analyzation and I think your 3 words are perfect for you. The approach you're taking to this project is very realistic, which I think is missing from the plethora of "Find My Style" videos on the Tube. I need my wardrobe to be practical as well, and it's really fun to see your unique interpretation of the same questions I ask myself. As always, I'm looking forward to your next video!

      Thank you so much, Erin! I'm definitely not one for rules or rigid recommendations about style. I'm my own boss, so coming to these conclusions myself will make it much more likely that I'll make meaningful discoveries. It's been fun so far!

    I actually love the apron combo 🤤 you could of course make an apron 🤔 I'm struggling to find my own style and am following your story with great interest. I don't think your colours are my colours but I love the cohesiveness of your garments. I look forward to your conclusions xx

      Haha, thanks both of you. I was definitely giggling to myself about taking the photo in that outfit. I think that came across. I'm planning to make a similar style apron again soon. I can keep this one for the really messy jobs!

    I actually find this wardrobe quite reminiscent of what I saw or wore in the 70’s… but so very much better. I hated clothes at that time but this channel has made me rethink that and realise that through a different lens those shapes, fabrics etc can look amazing. I did actually like one bold coloured corduroy dress I had back then although the corduroy dress in this wardrobe I like a whole lot more. Shame it’s not practical for work but I’m sure it’s great for off duty wear. I’m looking forward to the rest of this series.

    • @LostMyThread

      Style can be so interesting, especially looking back over time. I'm definitely very influenced by 70's fashion and have been since that all came back in the 90's. I think any era can have elements that transcend time, but finding those isn't easy until after the fact. I'll wear the corduroy dress plenty (including work, despite the inconvenience). I can also make another with a shorter sleeve!

  • @astra2007
    @astra2007 4 месяца назад

    The blue corduroy dress is beautiful, it looks fabulous on you and suits you really well. It's just not a work dress. Not everything is work wear and that's OK.

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  4 месяца назад

      You definitely have a good point there. I think I will try to remember to wear it on days off. Realistically, I just love it so much and feel like it ticks so many boxes for work. I think I'm just going to live with the sleeves being pulled up awkwardly.
      The biggest take away for me is just to consider what I'm making. I have lots of beautiful things to wear when I'm not working, so making things that can cover double duty means they'll get a lot more wear in my wardrobe. I still love my corduroy dress!

    What a great thought provoking vlog. 😊Love your corduroy dress and the pinafore/top combo. Maybe not for work but for going lunch, meeting friends. They really flatter your shape. Agree, we all need practical clothes for everyday living and comfort is so important 😊Debbie x x p.s seeing your collage of photos, you really do have some really lovely outfits ❤

      Thank you, I do feel really happy with the items in my wardrobe at the moment. You can always have goals, but that doesn't mean you have to be unhappy with where you are now. It's important to have clothes that fit your actual lifestyle!

  • @clairerosey9921

    I think you’d feel better making intentional house cleaning clothes, maybe sporty/lounge wear but as a toile. It can still be fun and light but for me if I shove on my ‘I can’t be bothered’ clothes - a) someone always comes to the house and b) I actually start feeling like I can’t be bothered. Saying that my style is all over the place for non work clothes so I need to focus on practical casual clothes for country living plus coffee with friends clothes, so maybe my head is just in ‘that’ space.
    You always offer such sensible advice and comments, I wish my head would play that game… it’s 🤪 in here 😂 x

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  4 месяца назад

      Haha, using the systematic questions definitely does help. I've been thinking about what I could wear at home and will be sharing my mood board in the week two video. I think it's achievable, but it isn't my top priority. In the meantime, I'm not too fussed. 😉

  • @chlomo2618
    @chlomo2618 4 месяца назад +3

    So great to hear the three words you settled on! I didn't get around to commenting with what I would have picked for you, so you'll have to take my word for it, but they were: relaxed, colourful and joyful. So I was pretty close, for the first two for sure! Soft is a great choice.
    I usually dislike it when people describe garments as timeless, in the sense of "You should buy this expensive, currently fashionable, blazer because a blazer is so timeless, they never go out of style." It's really not true. _A_ blazer might always be in fashion, but it won't be that same style of blazer. The cut, colour, fit, fabric, etc., that's actually on trend will always change, and what's in fashion now definitely won't be in the near future; that's the entire point of fashion.
    But I appreciate how you're using it here. Pieces that you like irrespective of, or outside of, trend cycles, and which you hope to have and love and wear for a long time.

    • @LostMyThread

      Clearly on the same page, there. It's really hard to pick words that don't have too much of a defined meaning with clothing already. I have a fair amount of retro style in my wardrobe, but that's not all I wear. I was trying to say it in a way that resonated with me. I'm happy with where I landed.

    You totally rock the color block items. They are my favorites. I love the honesty of this. Loungewear is my go to. I don't really have much use for fancy frilly things. Maybe once or twice a year.

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  4 месяца назад

      That's what I really like about this approach. It's really focusing on your actual lifestyle and what you're going to wear, rather than some ideal lifestyle. And thank you! I do enjoy the color blocking look.

    My style recipe is " creative not crazy" which I shared with you before. If I to pick 3 words to use instead they would be comfortable, practical, and unique.
    I am retired and have fallen into the trap of lazy dressing. While I don't hate my wardrobe, I don't love what I am wearing. My favorite way to dress when I worked was office casual.
    Gudrun Sjoden embodies the look I want for my wardrobe now. I could draft my own patterns but I've given myself permission to use commercial patterns. There isn't a fabric store close to me but Simplicity is having a great sale on their website so I spent time finding patterns that I could use to make clothing inspired by them.

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  4 месяца назад

      I love your description of creative, not crazy. I feel like I absolutely understand that vibe. And comfortable, practical and unique, totally slot into that.
      I think we can all fall into traps of lazy dressing. That's definitely my loungewear issue. I could see how retirement would really change what you're wearing. It seems like a good time to revisit what you want to wear.
      I did a Google search for Gudrun Sjoden, and that sounds exactly like the style that you've described. The main thing that stood out to me, were the fantastic colors. I think the trickiest part might be finding the right fabrics, but that looks like a fantastic wardrobe goal. Good luck getting yourself there, and have fun in the process!

    I really like your choice of "timeless" v. "classic." A classic wardrobe invokes "preppy" to me, which is definitely NOT my style, but I have had some pieces for a very long time that I loved then, love now, and get compliments on every time I wear them.

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! I agree that classic style is commonly used to describe something that isn't me at all. It was actually a viewer who suggested timeless, and it felt like a better choice for me. Funny how words take on their own meaning.

    The word Soft encompasses everything and is perfect for you :) I was also thinking 'earthy'. Nothing fake or too structured, etc. Fun to watch this process, as it makes us think about our own wardrobes with some clarity. Lately I have decided that I want lounge-wear that I would feel good in, if I had to answer the door :) Also I think of how would I have felt if my (now husband) boyfriend turned up unexpectedly ... would I have felt good in my lounge wear? So I made some things that were inspired by the newer knit wear for home, a knit hoodie with a colourful lining, and knit pants . Fun :) Looking forward to your next video

      I really like that way of approaching loungewear. I'm going to consider that, too. I mean, my husband is there when I'm wearing it. It would be nice to look presentable! 😂

    Great start on the wardrobe analysis. Your three words are spot on. I got a terrible cold which has set me back in my wardrobe analysis since I was wearing PJs all the first week. However, planning for a carryon travel capsule had me rummaging in my closet this week and it is reinforcing the need for a thorough clear out. Following along with you will help keep me honest.

      @LostMyThread  4 месяца назад +1

      Oh Nancy, I'm sorry to hear that you've had a rough cold. It sounds like you're on the mend though, which is good to hear. I think you've demonstrated one of the flaws with the two week wardrobe snapshot, though. A random two week period could include lots of unlikely days out or days sick at home in bed. You really want it to be reflective of your typical lifestyle!

    My three words: plain, high-quality, comfortable. Wich means I end up wearing pant suits in blue and gray with white T-Shirt or jumper to work and jeans with a jacket from the suits out of work. . Boring to the extreme but no need to spend time in front of my wardrobe looking for the right items. I recently did a DIY colour analysis on myself (due to my dermatitis, my skin colour changes depending on a time of year) and it looks like I am winter (always though of myself as an atumn but I do look better in bold jewel tones)
      I think deep winter colours suit me the most (I will still wear other colours, though)
      I am planning as my dark neutrals, navy, grey, and burgundy, white and silvery grey for bright neutrals
      As accents, I am thinking hot fuchsia pink, teal and dark green
