  • Replacing a failing sewer line. This line had several tree roots through the pipe causing it to back up in the house. They had it roto rootered out but the damage was already done from the roots. I followed it all the way to the sewer main and replaced all the pipe with new sch 40 pvc. Then backfilled the entire area with clean rock then tried my hand at the asphalt repair. I had to use to cold patch mix cause it was over the weekend and I didn't have time the following week to get any hot mix. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #sewerwork

Lots to see in this one. Tight quarters in the alley, new TL12, saw the little International, and Elite Plumbing Services in action! Good one today!!

I saw where they tied it into some old clay pipe at the sewer. The other pipe looked like cast iron. Not sure because the way it was joined. During the '60's when I was young I helped my father on the weekends (no choice really - paid 25 cents/hr) run a lot of cast iron. It was bell & spigot with lead joints. After many years the bottom of the pipe always seemed to rot away since that's where the water ran. Once that happened roots had a field day with it. I looked at your cleanout. It's amazing now that 4" DWV Combo Wye & 1/8 Bend costs about $38.00 and about the same for a 4" DWV Cleanout Tee. What you put in will be there long after that house is gone.
    Good work.

I think this pipe was called abs I thought it was cast too. She said it was put in 1961 it held up fairly but finally the tree roots got the best of it. Yeah the parts are pricey now. Thank you appreciate you watching

Brandon… I noticed MrsEE let you borrow her Farmall truck again! It must be great to have such a benevolent boss??
That ABS? pipe was a cheap alternative to cast iron… unfortunately it turned out to be brittle, once it aged. Our first home had a combination of ABS and cast iron pipe in the basement. In the five years we lived there we had about half a dozen joint leaks and cracks. One of them flooded the basement… once we got it fixed we decided to trade up to Sassafras Valley.
It doesn’t look like it has much slope. Are they going to cover the baserock in the yard with dirt or flagstone?
You had a lot of handwork on this one and I think it looked really nice.

She did 😁 yes it was ABS pipe put in in 1961. It didn’t have much fall at all and the 45 was barely in the pipe. The big area of rock is the alley so I’m guessing it will stay that way. Definitely a lot of handwork I feel like I’ve had a run of that lately lol

I’m a new sub. in hopes you reach 100k. My question is if you could only have one Excav. What size would you choose ? And if you could do 2 over again what size ? And even 3 ? All comments would be appreciated.
I’ve never run a mini-Excav. but I’ve run a lot of bigger stuff including a 33yd bucket shovel.
I’m planning to use for clearing somewhat steep house lots. Digging walkout basements and driveways. In some cases needing hammer.

Thank you! I like my 2150 for clearing and basement lots. It’s a 37,000lb. Excavator I’m able to move myself it’s a good size but not too big where it’s a pain to get in places. You may want to look at a 210 if that’s all the work you are hoping to do but requires a low boy trailer to move it. I don’t do huge projects mainly clearing lots, digging basements and building driveways so the two excavators I have work perfect.

Advise owner to: Completely remove asfalt up to the front door. Seems the grid is wrong. Replace by bricks which will let water thru.

Certainly finicky, but very nicely done. Had to chuckle near the end - that pipe you had sticking up temporarily looked like a mortar tube, LOL. Say, what was that wire you pulled out at about the 5:50 minute mark? Old phone?

It’s a neat feature. No it had several tree roots through it. And it wasn’t in the 45 very good is what I was thinking they said they hit when they snaked it.

I try to make a 2-3” wide cut where i am going to start tearing out. Easier to break through and you have a clean starting point. Wherever you are going to first set your bucket teeth. Hope that might help on the next one.
