Just finished doing the same thing on my property here in far NE Washington state where the ground virtually 50% cobbles, 50% clay. Tough digging. Sewer clog right at the septic tank but 50 ft of pipe got dug up and replaced to get to it. What a chore.
I was watching you standing in all that contaminated mush thinking the guy needs wellies (or whatever you call them in the States) when mud up to the ankles you said I need some boots. I guess it’s one of those jobs and if you took everything you could possible need, you’d never get started. Nice job 👍🏻
That manual excavator stick with the D ring handle looked like work, good thing you didn’t get that size 12 track stuck in the sludge in the bottom of the hole. 🙄😉😏🤣. Nice job, thanks for the ride along.
Awesome work Brandon, all that clean rock is a good idea, so if someone needs to get to it later down the road, when they start hitting rock ya know your getting close, great job, thanks for sharing 💪🇺🇸
Helloooooo Brandon!! Ugghhhh mud (and stuff,,,,,. I hate working in it. Makes everything a little bit harder. You did a’ight though!! 😂. Lots of gravel, but that will set up and be a good base for that indefinitely. We set posts in dry concrete like you did the sewer T connection. A few inches of clean gravel, the post, plumb it and drop a bag or two into the hole!! We set them a minimum of 36 inches, but if there’s a lot of grey clay, I set them at 42 or 48”. Better chance the fence won’t move from frost heaves. They tamp in very solid and then nature does the rest. Sometimes it’s just so dry that I will pour some water down the hole to get things started. I had times I couldn’t hardly get the auger on the 3 point hitch on on of the tractors to bite the soil and it would take forever. Then if you tried to pound a sharpened post you generally split it to pieces. Dry heavy clay soil. Once a depression is started, I would fill it with water and come back later to get a little deeper. Sometimes if you got past the top 8 - 12 inches it would all be normal again. There were a few summers though,,,,,,,,. I would have loved working in the mud!!! 😂😂 I was a typical farmer,,, never happy!!! Haha. You always do a good job. Nothing else you could have done here. Even if you hauled in a bunch of dry soil, it would still have been pumping from the outside perimeter eventually to the middle. There’s nothing to support the dry dirt in place!! You did a fine job. Many contractors would think that they were done and not even (openly) think about coming back later in the summer to do some touch up if needed. Not all of them, mind you, but some,,,,,. You will never be that guy,,, GOOD ON YA!!! We shall see what’s next on the list!!! Oh yeah, I can’t remember if I asked you if you ever just doused to find a sewer or water line. My dad could do it really well, and I was able to do it well enough to keep the holes dug reasonable acceptable 😂😂. Small craters,,,, not quite the size of a pond!!! Hahaha. Stay safe, Eh!! Looks like Chris caught something,,,, he says it is a head cold and is still working😮😮!! He may Peter out yet,,, he almost went home at 8:00 am apparently. Hoping it IS just a cold or at least he has some vaccinations to help him fight things off easier. It’s tough being a contractor and getting sick,,, I learned this from you of course!! Soooooo stay safe, Eh!!😂😂
Yes it definitely makes a long day lol! Sounds like your clay sets up like concrete then. I appreciate the kind words, I try to do it the best way I know. I would rather do things right or a bit overkill and get repeat work than throw something together. I have I’m not great at it but it does work. Oh no I didn’t see that about Chris probably needs some rest. Thanks again for watching
Elite Plumbing Services? Just remember the plumber's creed, hot's on the left, cold's on the right, crap won't run up hill, payday is on Friday, and the boss man is a butt hole. That was straight from a major plumbing contractor in our area. He said as long as you know the creed, then you are a legit plumber. Lol. Good job!
Brandon… Boy howdy, I can’t count the number of times that I’ve cut a pipe too short only to discover that I don’t have a pipe stretcher! Dave’s rule of plumbing…. ‘Anyone who likes to plumb, hasn’t.’ I liked that new music you used, while laying the pipes. Was that from YT or your editor? Wasn’t yesterday afternoon almost “otherworldly gorgeous”? I had to stop working and just sip tea in the sunbeams…. Until I got caught! Then I had to get after it for another 10 minutes… until she went to get her mani/pedi whatever… that gave me 2 hours to finish up 10 more minutes of work. You’ll be proud to know that I made it… was putting the tools in the back of the Gator, just as she drove into the driveway! I need new Muck boots too… my cheap old rubber boots are cracking with age. Maybe one more concrete job left in them? Maybe not! If I was a gambling man, then I wouldn’t be picking up a pair of replacements early. I’ll let you know if I find a bargain.
Outstanding job considering y'all kind of got into a bit of a mess we do alot of sewer main jobs as well as storm drain & other big jobs a good pair of mud boots are definitely a must on jobs like this
Put your ear on the cable, like they do on railroad tracks, see if you hear any one talking. Lol you do good work, if we could get you to do a little more of it! Ok, I’m leaving now. Lol
hey Brandon . , good job. i have a question for you. i just took delivery of a new Tak TB 225. surprised that the thumb switch/toggle is on the left handle. is this common with all the tak excavators ? i got the additional valves in case i want to hook up a hammer or anything, wondering if i could use the aux 2 outlets to change thumb to right hand. take care Mark from Ontario Canada
For some reason they are on the left of the 225 and down. The 235 and up they are on the right joystick. I have no idea why they did that but it’s annoying
Tell me your sense of smell has not returned since you had the big "C", LOL. That really came out nice despite the cosmetic drips and it was done correctly, of course.
Hi Brandon Two questions:how does that concrete works-here in Portugal we always mixed with water(as far as I know) The other is how come where you live, after a tornado you still build the houses with wood and not concrete or something stronger than wood? Is it because it's cheaper? As always All the best
In North America a concrete home the size they tend to be built (1200 - 2700 square feet on average) is cost prohibitive. You are right about the $$$. You hope you don’t get hit by a tornado twice. I live in an area where tornadoes are rare, but I have seen 2 in my lifetime, an EF1 and an EF2. Nothing too big and only one caused damage. It imploded my uncle’s and aunt’s barn and damaged some small buildings in their yard. You couldn’t see anything with the second one as the rain was so hard you couldn’t see 30 feet!! I was pretty close, it pushed my truck into a ditch and the barn was maybe 300 feet away. I suspect there are people in the “tornado alley” region in the USA that have seen dozens of them!! In Alberta Canada the concrete is mixed with water, but there are additives to help adhesion to other concretes or to keep the concrete from freezing before it cure in cold weather. In this case the concrete is left there and ground water will penetrate the mix he put down around the pipe, that way it stays in place without having to form it up. We often set fence posts with a bit of clean gravel under the base of the post and then dump a bag or two into the hole around the post, tamp it in place and let nature do the rest. It can save a lot of time and back breaking work!! Haha. I’m sure Brandon is much more aware, but that’s my two cents from Canada!!
The moisture in the ground sets up the concrete. And yeah most people build back with wood for their houses but out in a safe room. A concrete house would be expensive plus our tornado was a mile wide F5 it destroyed concrete buildings including an 8 story hospital. That wasn’t anything left standing in its path
@@eliteearthworksllc - that’s amazing!! Unimaginable until it’s right there!!! I suspect. I think the destructive powers just can’t be truly understood until you see what it can do first hand!! 8 storey hospital!! The wind speeds must have been well over 200mph!
