from those episode the guy has been characterized as having "mass displacement disturb" as in he mostly can't control between being normal-sized and combiner sized. mostly, we see him in aircarrier mode
Loved the sound effects you added, lol. I didn’t have Broadside until a year or so ago, but was strangely a fan. From the booklets. lol. I think he appeared once or twice in the show…at least I’m one opening.
This wasn’t the only G1 transformer to go from aircraft carrier to jet. There was a micro master set that did it about as convincingly as broadside, but without the robot mode.
He has a 4th unintenional mode that doesnt even need transforming....a brick....if you threw this at someone and you hit them in thehead you would kill them.

I bought two of the Prime edition of the figures so I could have one displayed and one for recreational purpose, and I find that both in base mode make an interesting layout for the mini figures as well. Three would be lovely, but that could get out of budget.
Still have him from my childhood. I like to display him in robot mode with his wings somewhat spread out and his missiles attached. In this way he is less of a brick.
They could have made a normal Transformers out of him but bigger, about the size of Omega Supreme. Don't understand what they were thinking when they were in the design phase
Everyone talks about scale. And yet nobody brings it up with Unicron or other figures that are supposed to be the size of cities. Normal characters would be absolutely tiny compared to some of the city box and yet nobody complains about that. Who cares that this guy is an aircraft carrier and a robot in an airplane. Scale just goes out the window. And I'm totally okay with that
Yes he is Thief in the Night, Carnage in C minor, Background Character in Grimlock's new Brain, and Burden Hardest to Bare, in season 3. He is the size of Omega Supreme or combiners he goes against Devastator and Predaking . He does need a good update the Titans Return is eh. He needs to be a titan class but if we get a Tidal wave then we would get a Broadside. Cross your fingers LOL.
Man a Titan of Broadside would be cool. Although I'd suspect they would do Tidal Wave first, and then a repaint into Broadside if they went that route.
Man we had a lot of imagination back then. The triple changers were never particularly great. They definitely are best looked at through nostalgia goggles, although I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with that if it takes you back to a happy place i think Blitzwing was probably the best of the lot. Kind of amazing if you see how well third party transformers pull off triple changers nowadays, in ways that I never could have thought would be possible when I was a kid. We've now got versions of Blitzwing, Astrotrain, and Springer that pull off all three modes almost to perfection. Although they will cost you a pretty penny.
Even hasbro is doing great triple changers. Example is springer and the numerous titans returns figures. Even blitzwing since there's a simple modification where you can remove his tank stand as i would like to call it.
It's not even that the toy is bad I just think it's a really unfun combination of modes! The aircraft carrier probably looks the best but it's the least useful...
He's as good as any other G1 Transformer that isn't Optimus, Soundwave, or Jetfire. I don't get the complaints about size. Yes, the size discrepancy between a regular earth fighter jet and an aircraft carrier is pretty big, but he's not a recognizable fighter jet, so if it bothers anyone that much they can pretend he's just a huge Cybertron fighter jet. No one complains when Blitzwing changes from a 30 foot tank to a 70 foot fighter, or when Astrotrain turns into a space shuttle large enough for Devastator to form inside, or when Megatron shrinks down to a tiny little gun. Also: THANK YOU for pointing the turret in the right direction on Blitzwing's tank mode. Everyone always defaults to the cartoon look with it pointing the wrong way. I like the idea that he's a huge Cybertronian fighter jet for sure! Transformers have always played it very loose with mass shifting. (Also it always bothers me Blitzwing had his turret backwards in the cartoon, so I make sure its the correct way)
