It was explained that the reason why there is size inconsistency with some transformers is because some of them can change their mass. A perfect example is megatron being able to wield by both transformers and humans yet when in robot form is much bigger than most normal transformers.
When you think about it, Broadside's jet form would be the size of the Avenger's/SHIELD's heli-carrier. Now I wanna see Broadside done up as a triple-changer that instead of being a carrier, jet and robot, the carrier becomes a heli-carrier for the second form. It would make sense :D

May have been better off as a navy plane and a smaller combat boat/ship or something if he's supposed to be a naval officer or something like an Autobot rival of Astrotrain.
If a transformer thats the size of Aircraft Carrier, it should be consistent and equivalent to Omega Supreme. And otherwise, it should transform to a very huge plane, like the Star Destroyer
Excellent review, as always, and informative too, especially given that I didn't even realize he had wing missile parts until JUST now... I bought this guy at Charticon for a buck. I removed the decals, cleaned everything thoroughly, and applied fresh Reprolabels to make him look like new again, and gave him to my friend so he could get a little closer to completing his G1 collection. Unfortunately, now, instead of just looking for his axe & gun, we'll need to round up those missiles too. Definitely appreciate the inadvertent heads up on that! Like you say, the G1 Broadside is a brick, lol. I actually like the TR Broadside quite a bit, (and the Tidalwave repaint...), especially with the Nonnef upgrades for both of them...although I wish they'd have at least been leader class, but preferably bigger, (maybe a smaller Titan class?). So, with that in mind, I'm slowly working towards a Supreme class Broadside triple changer that will be based on a Supreme class Cybertron Starscream figure with a couple of those dollar store aircraft carrier sets to be cut up to build the deck and aircraft wings. I'm really hoping to add in some articulation to existing joints and improve posability and transformation, as well as other little details that will work smoothly into all 3 modes (including those newly discovered missiles, and a few other items). Hopefully, it will turn out the way I want and envision it being, once completed....whenever that may be, lol. (Did you get the TR version Broadside and/or the Nonnef upgrade kits for either him or Tidalwave?) I recommend them if you have either or both figures. Anyway, Happy New Year and I'm looking forward to lots more great reviews, brother! HOOO-AH!!
Great review, brother. This could’ve been a better figure if they made him larger and improved all three modes or (if they kept him the same size) if they had included some tiny non-transformable versions of other characters to try and show the proper scale. Great video as usual. You were a little harsh on his jet mode though. You said there wasn't much, but he has lots of sticker details and the translucent canopy is cool. They could have just done a paint job there but they made it a bit better. Of course he isn't a great jet, but he's not so bad. I think you were really forgiving for Quickswitch jets mode. 😁 I'm not complaining on you, just giving a comment. :) I love your videos. Thank you for making them.

Mine is terrible battered seen better days. I always like to think he has technic coloured pants on. A true hippy 🤣 We had the head masters version but sold it he's pretty naff in all eras.

At least a Masterpiece scale toy will be "size accurate" compared to other characters, since Broadside is as tall as Devastator and the combiners. :D Thank you once again for another great video review, you are amazing. For me, broadside is a reminder of why the decepticons always get better alt modes than the autobots (I’m more into the autobots and I don’t like the bad guys being cooler than the good guys), I don’t want to hate the character but I can’t stop thinking about how much of a stretch his alt modes are. even though size inconsistency is nothing new to TF, it still piss me of, I would have like it more if one of the alt modes was a different vehicle to scale up to the other alt mode, like something like a starship mode instead of a jet mode or an alt mode of a must smaller water vehicle (which I think I need more TFs of) like a battleship, a yacht or some other boat/ship instead of a freaking aircraft carrier. But for what it is, broadside is really lame which is a shame. I just want the autobots to have better alt modes like more jets and trains to be more at balance with the decepticons, that is all. Great video tho Edit: don’t mind this comment much, I wasn’t in a good mood then and it’s why I sounded so negative, I hope for a better Broadside in the future from hasbro or 3rd party

Excellent sound effects!! The mystery, intrigue and mistakes make for such an interesting story.. Shame the toy is so awful. I love 'Brickformers' but i just struggle with Broadside.. Terrible. I'm always like.. "here you go, play with this ruler. It's the same as Broadside". Hooah!!
Very good review bud, G1 Broadside's toy by right is a little bit silly and that the robot is essentially a coffin with arms and legs. But it does have it's charm.
Broadside is one figure that I don't think I would buy a masterpiece style update for myself. I really didn't like the way he looked even in the cartoon. I was most impressed by Fansproject's Broadside figure, the sci-fi space cruiser and space fighter worked really well as an alt mode pair that helped make the mass shifting make more sense.
That was a cool ad. I actually downloaded that video to put in this but forgot to talk about it during the Review. I'll try to add it in Sandstorm's Review.
I think I must be the only person in the world who actually likes Broadside. Despite the plain look and the lack of details and articulation, I always liked his toy (maybe it's the fact that he's an aircraft carrier, since I do like sea-faring characters most of the time) and his character as described by the tech spec is very interesting. As for Carnage in C-Minor, I personally liked it. The animation was garbage, but the story isn't as bad as B.O.T. or Fight or Flee IMO. Personally, the position of worst Triple Changer for me would go to Springer. I always found his character rather boring and the toy, although somewhat decent, just never grabbed my interest (plus, Sandstorm's toy did all the things Springer tried to do in a much better way). But yeah, that is actually one of my many unpopular opinions.

I know they love to do the "mass shifting" thing with broadside, but I don't think anyone ever really had an idea what they were doing with him.

The weirdness and oddities on this figure including the none history of its caricature, make it more collectible and unique. I dig it.

Perhaps Tidal Wave (Armada) recolor could work as a aircraft carrier for him? (maybe he doesnt need a jet mode?)

My first experience with him was when I got this one.
I was so underwhelmed, fortunately I didn't pay too much because his axe is damaged.
Patriot Prime Reviews Like most G1 figures, I think he had a certain charm to him but he’s definitely the worst of the triple changers.

Even as a young kid i thought this was the laziest designed figure i owned, it was a horrible toy.
Exactly my thoughts when I opened him up last year from Ebay.
