Came for the amp, stayed for the playing! Holy smokes that was refreshing.
Yep same here! 🤘
Deep appreciation for any gear review that doesn’t just play generic blues licks
This can not be emphasized enough!
this dude could sell a fender amp to fender.
Lol
mason has been one of the higher quality demo dudes for a while. he is pretty good
Mason could sell a Marshall MG15G to a Fender rep.
This is actually a really great amp. Better than my tweed fender blues junior and the same price.
Fender should include the tabs of Mason's playing as part of the owner's manual.
Can we take a break from the amp and just appreciate this guys spicy playing? Those are some tasty progressions and licks.
Please someone do the tab
The first one is a Beatles song.
This guy is a monster player, while rocking that 90s Friends look.
And yes, that amp sounds ace
Have Mason do all the classic flavored gear that you put out Fender. He's got the right feel and chops for em.
I've had this amp for about a month now. While I don't play like Mason here, My amp sounds every bit as good as the one in this video, if not better (ya gotta hear it live). Crystal clear, sparkling cleans with plenty of punch on the bottom end. This is basically just a 5 watt Princeton. Gets crazy loud too.
is this loud enough for a medium size gig?
With good monitoring and a FOH engineer that knows what he’s doing, yes… mainly depending on how clean you wanna keep it. Your FOH guy will love you for an ideal stage volume so he/she actually has room to put you in the mix
A 5 watt Vibro Champ Reverb? The perfect amp to send to Keith from Five Watt World!
and paint it all white
@@yushao175 YESS! 😂
First song is from 'Dream Puppy' by the Sweet Enoughs, off the album "Marshmallow". Whole album is a banger.
So I went through and listened to 1:33 over and over and over and I finally figured out most of it. It's such a smart chord progression. The movements are only based on 3 notes for most chords and there isn't nearly as much movement as one would think. Beautiful progression.
Please share the chords if you may I’m sure lots of people would appreciate your work
would love to see a video of you playing it to get an idea of the chord shapes not seen in this vid
"Dream Puppy" by The Sweet Enoughs
@@mishapanfilovwow good ear, and thanks for the great band suggestion…amazing tunes!!
The man is handing out some super tones, from the fingers and interpreted by the little amp. A nice pleasing combination.
I think that's the sound Leo Fender had in mind fabulous
Leo fender was gone by this time. And they...cbs modified alot of what was cool about leos 50s tweed champs.
Im sorry for calling you out on this. But its just not true
Total agreement! This entire family of amps (Princeton Reverbs w/ Tremelo, Vibro-Lux Reverbs and Super Reverb) are the pinnacles of amp design at 4 power levels. No amp alive is as versatile. I want to be buried with mu Vibro-Lux, which is just the big brother of the Vibro-Champ. This amp is perfection with a Telecaster and/or any Gretsch.
And, yes, Mason Stoops's playing is magnificent.
Mason, that was one of the best demos of anything ever!
Wow! ❤
What a great demo. Solid playing, way better than most amp demos!
Played on this yesterday in my local guitar store. Every guitar sounded absolutely amazing on this! I was baffled that this little beast had so much headroom! I'm currently owning a helix but this amp oh man..
I’m contemplating selling my Helix floor! Does this sound a little spikey?
@@ptalley316 Yeah it does. It also cleans up very well if you bump up the volume on the amp, and roll down your volume knob on the guitar.
Fender makes the best guitars, and amps.
I’d have to agree
I think Fender makes the best guitars and Vox makes the best amps, together fender and Vox is tone heaven fender amps are amazing but they are a bit too bright for me
@@gorgon352 vox amps are definitely brighter though
Fender absolutely crushes commie vox
@@bigtsshackfestival9563 what? I agree in concept, but what about vox is commie?
Just got mine today. Amazing, amazing, amazing little home/recording amp. Beautiful chimey clean tones, beautiful tremolo. The digital reverb is also actually very nice sounding as well.
It's volume control is very usable too. It doesn't just get to a certain point where it stops getting louder and just adds more overdrive.
Mason is an absolute King! Amp sounds awesome.
Mason Stoops! Now on my radar! Wonderful playing! Wish I knew what songs are played here, those wonderful chord progressions, and how you got those distorted tones, especially in the end! Listening to this video many times in a row!
Vibro Champ Reverb offers those classic, glassy Blackface tones you could get from a Princeton Reverb in a much smaller, lighter package- A TRUE winner from Fender.
Love his playing so much
Mason is just a savage. Gotta admit- I haven't given this line a real chance but finally got a chance to play this same amp and it has me wanting to sell all of my really expensive boutique amps and getting this. I was floored. I wouldn't even put more than a modulation pedal in front. $799 or less is well priced too.
Man that’s some of the best playing I’ve seen on RUclips… Take my money!!!
01:32 "Dream Puppy" by The Sweet Enoughs. Don't thank me!
Finally someone else got it!
now I can't stop thinking about Chris Isaak...love that reverb!
Maaaaan. This amp has it all! Mic it up and you have all the clean headroom you need for live -- I see bands gigging with champs all the time. Gonna have to pick one up soon
That reverb sounds amazing
I bought one and had a preamp tube go out, it has been in the shop just to be checked over and I now miss the amp and come here to hear it while it is gone. lol sad I know, but I love this amp.
I can fully understand what you‘re going through right now .😊
I love the tone of the tele with the wide range buckers. Great demo, great player.
Just got one the sound is amazing will be staying with me now. After a lot of years and amps that one comes along that just fits thank you Fender.
Mason Stoops came from 1968 to present us with this great playing
beautiful guitar playing - you could sell any amp but the Fender sounds great for this type of playing. Sweet
my first amp 20 Jears ago i bought, was an 1400,- bucks expensive Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.
I was so dissapointed of it`s muddy sound and never again looked out for Fender amps... But this little Amp is shining in every way !
I just bought one of these it is absolutely amazing 5 watts is perfect for home ,sounds so good
It reminds me of the Fender amps of yesterday that I miss so much. The tone with this amp is insane. Mine arrives today by close of business.
@@tjnugent62 yea its a really cool little amp even with the digital reverb enjoy
@@tjnugent62 it takes pedals good to
WHAT A TONE, WHAT A PLAYER!!!
Does Mason's talent come included? Man o man.
Total want this amp now.
6:50 the toan thats been stuck in my head.
Beautiful demo visually, and aurally. I demoed this amp yesterday, and was so impressed.
Just recieved this amp. And yes, it sounds as good as in this video - just a wonderful amp!
I am assured the ”new amp stiffness” will be gone when the tubes are burnt in and it will sound just as good as my SF original Vibro Champ. It is already much louder thanks to the 10” speaker. This relatively cheap Celestion is frowned upon by some but fits this amp perfectly. Well done Fender!
Is there too much difference between the original SF and this one?
@@JuanBluesMan Yes and no. The new Vibro Champ sounds much louder and bigger.
The old sound is there, only more of it. The speaker seems to add to a nicer, less harsh breakup too.
Personally I actually prefer the new to the old one.
@@etiquettemona thanks Lars!
@@etiquettemona Wow - that says a lot - nice endorsement for Fender's ability to relase newer and better versions of the originals!
@@jeffh3409 Ha, just to not sound like a Fender endorser, I am not very fond of some of the other ´68 custom silver faces - they can sometimes sound muddy with to much bass in my experience. Not so with the Vibro Champ - it´s clear sounding.
Beautiful playing man. The voicings are just mesmerising
this mason guy is the stuff
I have a 67-68 Bronco. Basically a rebadged version of the Vibro champ. I love it so much, I wish it had built in reverb. I hooked up a Danelectro Spring King to it
This guy is amazing. Discovered him at a Harmony guitars video.
Unfortunatly, Mason's touch is not included with the amp. Great demo!
do you want his touch? Lol
That’s some badass toneage going on there.
The video opens with his beautiful clean tone. Amazing. Sold!
If I buy it , it will be because of you. Very good presentation.🍹
Played one earlier today.
Fantastic sounding amp. To me the sweet spot definitely was the volume at around 5-6, Bass on max, treble on half, and reverb on slightly below 3
But , and at low volume for home stuff (neighbours), top quality sound?
@Twylightt I find it is quiet enough fir low volumes but it really opens up at around 5-7 on the volume
That amp sounds dreamy
THIS SONG 1:32 Beautiful playing! What is it? Thanks 👋🏻✌🏼👌🏻
Dream Puppy by The Sweet Enoughs
@@MegaJazzercise thank you ✌🏻
Truly epic playing, beautiful touch...
There's something really special about Fender amps.
Ha! They are for special players!
Tried it at the local store. I wasn't looking for an amp at all but it sounded so good I just had to buy it 🙂
You think this is good for apartmant ?
I went in to GC to try out a PRS Hollowbody II. I played through one of these and left with the amp because it sounded it so good.
Regrettably ,the reverb went wonky and defective after 2 weeks. I loved that amp. GC was great about their 45 day money back guarantee.
Unfortunately there wasn’t anymore in stock locally. So I’m now the proud owner of an original ‘68 drip edge Vibro Champ.
I can’t believe the reliability and how good this 55 year old amp sounds. Now I understand some of the vintage prices ,though I still think many are overvalued.I’m now seeing some of these reissues at pretty reasonable prices.
7:51
Hi, how does the drip edge compare to the newer custom vibro reverb? I once tried a beat up 76' silver champ but it was not really loud at all. Although I could sense the vintage crunch quality, I figured the speaker was terrible. Volume wise, I could crank it and not be disturbed at all. I don't like when it's too loud, but I wish it pushed a bit more air. Thanks
Had mine since it came out beautiful little beast not to mention the little sucker takes pedals like amazingly
bro the fuzz on that amp is killer TOANZ Bro
That WeeWoo sound at 7:33 was straight fire
Wow, what a player!
Incredible new Champ! I've got a late 70's and an 80's Vibro champ that are great and my main amps at home. This new Champ may become #3! BTW - Stoops, in my opinion, is the best player for demos ever. He is awesome!
Sounds awesome but I think you also just have a really good telecaster
FYI: Tremolo is amplitude modulation; vibrato is frequency modulation: This amp has tremolo.
Finally!!..someone who knows the difference...Vibrato and Tremelo get mixed up all the time! Cheers!
@@ede4961 The word tremOlo (A variation in the volume of a note or a chord, evoking a tremor or quiver) comes from 18th century Italian "tremolare" (“to shake, to tremble”).
This little champ breaks up way better than the 68 princeton reissue.
Hey Mason! Can you let us in on what pedals you eventually brought in? Sounded GREAT! Nice playing and good tones!
Sounds great, but, for the life of me, I don't understand why they would include a digital hall reverb rather than a spring emulation.
Astonishing Tones and Great Guitar Playing , This Amp Sings Clear and True . 🎸☮️🇺🇸🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Uh, I'm gonna need tabs for those tunes - thanks! ;)
Me want.
I'm honestly on the edge between this amp, the Princeton version, or an Orange Tremlord...
I like this amp alot. But id choose the princerton because it has more headroom and spring reverb.
Let me know what you go for ;)
Watching this convinced me to buy one instead of a Princeton. With the Celestion Speaker it sounds great and I don't need more than 5 watts. Easy to move, too.
What's the difference between this one and the 68's Princeton Reverb Amp? They look and sound equally to me? Thanks.
Mason is so damn good.
The playing was very nice and the amp I wouldn't mind either 😎
I’d pick two of them to play in stereo at home with my Strat.
Excellent Demo! What a player….he should be doing all these videos demoing equipment.
Why no spring reverb :((( this would have been my holy grail amp
Spring would have been nice but the hall sounds pretty good.
Thats a shame, guess you gotta get the Princeton reverb instead
They have another amp in this lineup.
1:32 basically sold me on the amp lol.
The tune is called "Dream Puppy" by The Sweet Enoughs. Enjoy!
@@mishapanfilov Dude, thank you so much, been coming back to this video every week or so looking for this lol
Great little amp, great playing! Thx man!
Why a hall reverb? Wouldn’t a short spring match better with this classic? FYI I own an original 68 bronco (vibro champ). Other than the somewhat odd choice of reverbs, it sounds amazing.
Nice to hear that you’re enjoying the Bronco. I had one of those new along with a Mustang guitar when I was a teen. Fun little amp.
Who is this dude? ❤😂
If I buy this amp will I sound like this?
Sounds fantastic. Playing is beautiful!!
This would be perfect with my Les Paul
I was hoping to at least pretend I wasn’t going to buy this. The. You started playing and it ended up in my cart. It’s all your fault Mason!
Sounds killer 👏🏻👏🏻
im 70 years had the duall-showman - fender tele is the best allround gitar
I just got a used one and it sounds great, but there's a hum. Is there a way to fix this and do they all hum?
Amazing playing and demo!
This or Fender Blues Jr IV? For a guy who likes clean blues (John Mayer, Tom Misch), jazzy (kinda Duke Robillard, Kenny Burrell) who plays mostly at home? I think Vibro Champ wattage (5W) is a plus over the BLJR (15W), but price and speaker's size balance this fight.
Another great option (champ clone) is the Stage Right 5W amp. It's amazing sounding at 150.00 or less. Amazon has them
I've been having the same debate going on for about a month now. The Blues Junior has a 12" speaker, an actual spring reverb and a master volume control. But it doesn't have the glassy sparkling tone like the Champ. The Champ is also a lower 5 watts with a low input jack for quiet practice and more headroom. The Champ wins this fight, imo. I need a good clean amp for half my music, my Marshall DSL5CR can handle all the dirty stuff.
This sounds more like a traditional Fender black face amp. The Blues jnr is nice but has its own sound which I wouldn't describe as being traditional Fender at all. At 5w the champ can also be pushed harder at lower volume and still maintains beautiful clean at lower volume. If you playing at home or recording I'd go with the champ. For loud and live playing I would go for bj.
a tele or strato, a clean sound and a bit of reverb, what else could you possibly need to be happy?
Thing is though.
That WILL get old.
One of my 1st amps.Got it in 68' & Reverb was the original and first for "effects". I was just a beginner, its perfect amp. Mostly 4 begginers...Hes got going thru a mic/PA. Sounds great.
Dude has it
That was "Dream Puppy" by Sweet Enoughs. I fucking love that song. Are you in that band?
There should be a law that all amps should have built-in tremolo
I have a twin riverb of 1972, the sound is just perfect.
Take my money!
Im almost convinced to sell my custom 57 champ in favor for this one
No way !! That 57 custom champ is hand wired sounds. I wouldn't. But I may sell my 68 princeton
@@rustycage5351 Yeah I’m aware, but to be honest - I would play the heck out of this amp due to it’s bigger speaker, reverb and trem. The 57 I occasionally use on recordings, otherwise it just sits.
57 is grrrreat on recordings, but to my ears it sounds way too boomy and nasal to be a pleasing practice/noodling amp.
@@ChrisEffort that's funny because I've been considering the 57th for quite some time and was hoping Fender would come out with a new version of the champ however this having a 10 inch speaker isn't really what I was looking for. So if you ever want to sell your 57 let me know!
@@ChrisEffort Chris, I totally get your point. I love the Victoria 518 tweed champ replica. I just got a new weber speaker for my 68 Princeton. I'm hoping that does the trick. This new 68 Vibro Champ sounds nice though.
I’m thinking of buying a custom 57 champ, or one of these. I’ve heard great things about the 57 champ, and I don’t play out, just at home by myself.
Excellent video, sounds and playing! Whats the distortion pedal used at the very end please?
Pretty versatile amp and amazing demo by Mason Stoops. But at 900 euros, I wish it at least had an Eminence/Jensen speaker and a spring reverb tank, instead of a made in China Celestion ten 30 and digital hall reverb which usually go into amps that cost half the price...
Most people who have actually played the amp agrees on two things: both the speaker and the digital reverb sounds very good in this amp!
Super tasty guitar playing !
❤️ biutiful sound ❤️
