Have I just watched a 50 minute Porsche advert from someone who, in most of his EV videos, has nothing positive to say about electric power? Choice? I remember very little about you talking about choice I previous vlogs. More about range being nothing like that being sold to customers, battery replacement costs being extreme, cols weather issues etc etc.
I'm not hating here, just wish the video had been a little less "blowing smoke up Porsche's tailpipe" (if it had one).
Electric power is brilliant. It's recharging the batteries that is the problem. Lee likes the car, it's the charging infrastructure he doesn't like.

They had just been testing launch mode though that won’t do much for range. Where is the “my diesel car gets 1000 miles per fill up” comments? Comparing apples to apples I doubt the petrol Porsche version of the Taycan whatever that is gets much more than 200 miles when driven in launch mode.

Where to start? It's primer (undercoat) grey. Costs £6000 - 7000 more than yours (quick lookup on the 'net). Constant hard acceleration drains the battery even faster. Total range is still cack compared to a decent diesel. It'll depreciate faster than a week old Big Mac. All that tech won't last a couple years intact let alone 10 or 20. Designed to be leased by mugs coughing up huge monthly payments for 3 years and then ditching the rolling pile. The salesman's up-selling was launching my stomach contents faster than launch control.
Well you've pinned your colours to the mast there John :) Imagine a manufacturer charging more for a 'special' colour' - I think that undercoat grey, as you put it, has been very popular on ICE cars for a number of years, not sure it's an exclusive Taycan thing. You're certainly right about hard constant acceleration reducing range - I believe that happens in ICE cars as well? The range may be cack compared to a diesel but what is your argument? Porsche got out of the diesel game a few years ago so there is no equivalent with a diesel engine. Depreciation is absolutely a huge thing for anyone deciding to buy new but it does open up some fantastic bargains in the used market. Not very nice to call Lee a mug though - if you don't like his videos then don't watch them

Yes, sure. Lee and his mate Mr Joice will be teaming up with Quentin and Morag before we know it! Yes, this new Tincan accelerates 0.3 sec faster to 60, charges a bit faster, goes a bit further, handles a bit better - will make all the difference!

Not totally against electric and this is very good example. I agree we should have choice my preference is self charging hybrid as petrol charges it up then can be driven especially round town in electric but on longer run its petrol plus no having to stop at unreliable charging points just a quick stop at petrol station. You get best of both worlds . This new taycan did sound quite calmer inside insane acceleration handy being 4x4 as well plus shorter charging time and more range

From watching your road trip videos. I felt that your main frustration was the availability/convenience of charging stations. This new Porche does not correct this problem. Also, what charging kilowatt power is required to do the 10 to 80% in 18 minutes.
Quick acceleration is quite desirable when passing or entering a freeway, but ludicrous acceleration has no practical function.
My overall take is that if you can charge at home, and do primarily local driving, then an EV seems to be a good choice, but for road trip people, ICE is the most logical.
My wife's not known for her sarcastic humour but last week we were tootling along in the near side lane of the M5 in our modest fiesta when a taycan shot past us in the outside lane. She instantly said "look at that scrap car":-)

no of course not , EV's like the tacan depreciate the most on the road, but its the only way he will be able to buy the GTRS3 , hell have to shell out about few hundred thousand to get on the waiting list.
(depreciation isn't an engineering problem, its perception - Mr Market at work... Whitegoods all depreciate terribly from the Refrigerator to the BBQ setting (stretching the case) - EVs are perceived to be best fresh out of the box it seems. - PS, wanna buy a lightly used cooker from my 1970s house?? )

The main issue with electric cars like phones is the battery will degrade. Are elctric expensive throw away things ? No electric car will be worth anything after 8 years and might do 30% less miles.
my high end smartphone from 5 years ago 100% charge 72hrs 3 years ago 48hrs today 24hrs and if I get it out in freezing winter battery goes from 50% to 0% in 1 picture, and I'm using my phone very little compared to the constant drain an everyday car will see EV are disposable income toys for people with 2-3 cars and that market has pretty much run out

With all the death and crashes that exist on highways around the globe, why oh why is the speed of a car the utmost of importance, is beyond me.
Why not build the damned things so people can just get to and from their destination safely without worrying about the bloody speed of the things?
A beautiful, fast, excellently built and (likely) very reliable car.
It is therefore a huge pity that it would still lose any real world trial of distance against:
- My Honda HR-V
- My mother’s Hyundai i-10
- Any of Geoff’s old bangers, even the Volvo with no interior.
- Any one of the 384 Perodua Kelisas still on taxed to be on the roads (each of which will now be worth considerably less than one Taycan tyre).
- Etc.
