    I say it again, you have one of the best channels for darkroom printing (and film photography in general) on RUclips. You don’t just talk about it...you show how to do it. Simply brilliant. Love your work-and thanks for the great instruction.

      Love it! It is all about the darkroom and last time I touched these stuffs was back in college in the late 80s! And you totally pulled me back...

    Good show. TMY-2 is the jewel in crown of the current crop of Kodak B&W emulsions. It was already expensive, but after last year's 25% price hike, is just about unaffordable now. It is however. a beautiful emulsion. I like it anywhere from iso 250 ~iso 800 without any apparent loss of quality. It works well with a lot of developers too, D76, T-max, DDX, HC110, X-Tol, and even with Pyro developers. Keep a couple of rolls in your fridge for those special subjects.

      Every time I buy stock with my usual channel monthly budget I get to the film page and hover the mouse over the Kodak but Ilford prices are too attractive.

    • @lensman5762
      @lensman5762 3 года назад

      @@ShootFilmLikeaBoss I agree, but the look of the HP5, as alluring as it is, is quite different to TMY-2, and an almost total absence of grain for a fast film is amazing. In the last few weeks, due to lack of energy to get out, I went through some of my older 4X5 negatives of the mid 80s to early 2000, and rescanned them. To my surprise the ones that really stood out and visually made an impact, were all done on Kodak emulsions, mainly Tri X Pan pro 320 and Plus X Pro. I am sure that I had developed them in HC 110 dilution B. On some of them taken in and around Goyt Valley in Peak District, one could almost touch the needles of the distant pine trees and the textural quality was quite tangible. There is a lot to be liked about Kodak but their prices and their lack luster loyalty to analogue photography.

    How is it possible to get lost on the Isle of Wight? That takes some doing! Keep going until you get wet feet and you can work out where you are.
    I love Zeiss Ikon folders, even the most basic have great lenses. My results were transformed by buying some period push fit filters. The sky, ( so often washed out on my uncoated lens ) really comes to life. Good to see you eating well. As they say up here in the north, a balanced meal is a pie in each hand.

    I'm not familiar with TMY-2. Is that available in the US? I'll have to look that up. As far as affordable medium format cameras, once you get past the popular big names like Rolleiflex and Hasselblad there are tons of good quality cameras out there at reasonable prices simply because they get overlooked. Minolta made some good TLR cameras, for example; my own favorite is a 1950s Minolta Autocord which I bought cheap and got refurbished, great camera. There are plenty others out there, but with folders you really want to check them out in person first to make sure the bellows hasn't dry rotted and developed light leaks in the folds. I have my grandmother's Agfa folder from the 1930s in good shape and still use it once in a while.
