I got one of the Gretsch Jets with P90s. I absolutely love it. Unfortunately I made the mistake of playing a Penguin and now I want one.

      The Electromatics are gateway drugs.

Great video Jack. I've just bought my first Gretsch, a 6118 PE 140th anniversay and I am astonished at the sound and build quality. My next purchase was going to be a Les Paul 50s standard P90 but these Jets are really turning my head at the mo. These Gretsches seem to go under the radar somewhat. Thanks for a great video

Great review Jack. Just put a Dynasonic neck pickup in one of my guitars and I love it. It just has it's own vibe. Also the pole pieces are properly adjustable to tailor it to sound how you want 😁

Try the version with Filtertrons for more punch but with great singlecoil like definition.

The problem with all the Gretsch Jets is they insist on chambering every single model in the Electromatic and Player’s Edition lines. This chambering results in a “hollow” sound and loose low-end. To truly compete with a LP I just wish they offered an actual SOLIDBODY Jet.

Sonically, I find Gretsches, whether with dynasonics or Trons, more comparable to Strats than Tele or Les Pauls. Like Strats, they have a mids scooped, quacky sound that lends itself really well to rhythm strumming and funky styles. 👍🏻

Awesome vid! Great guitars. Bigsby is perfect as long as your nut and saddles are good and you’re lubed up. Nut, especially, is crucial.

Tell ya what, I stumbled upon one of the Gretsch Jet (Electro?) for about $300. It has the Blacktop pups and it’s an awesome playing guitar! Sounds dang good too…I like it better than my Gibson LP/P90. 🤫 It came with the V stop bar, looks great! But I grabbed a Guyker Tune O Matic trem arm/roller bridge off Amazon it’s much better than any Bigsby! No mods to the guitar and is low key stylish and the arm folds out of the way too. 😎👍

Tbh the Bigsby can get out of the way too, and the way it interacts with the guitar is unique

This is funny!! About a month ago I was wrestling with wanting a Tele with a Bigsby but I was loving my ES style humbucker guitar…so I got an Electomatic Jet!

Wow! Sounds amazing! Those clean positions absolutely sparkle - these pick-ups have their own personality, for sure. I have a quite similar 2019 MIJ Player's Edition with trad. Gretsch pick-ups, bigsby, thumb nail markers that I love - my only Gretsch (so far) but I reach for it more and more as a contrast to my LP & Strat etc. I checked out this model on the Gretsch site, hadn't actually seen this before.

The Bigsby stays in tune IF it is used like an actual Bigsby. It is not a Floyd Rose, if you know what I mean. Great one, Jack.
