Wonder if Mike Perry served Matt Medeiros? Also if he was 1st group then he knows my uncle Retired SGM Walt Hetzler. Hell 2nd Battalion 1st SFG named a wing after him.

Talk about being lucky to survive!
Der Typ muss wohl ein homeless drug crazed piece of...work gewesen sein.
Watch the first podcast when Dave was back, it's heartbreaking so see his face and you can deduce how close he came to being reduced to a pulp.

This dude is the shit. How he didn’t end up in prison or a drug addict before excelling in the military is an act of god, given his childhood environment. We’re all lucky people like this make it every once in a while. He mentioned Black Flag, he reminds of Henry Rollins in the fact that you get so much more personality than you’re expecting. I have to say again how much I admire your channel.
This is in my top 3 interviewees so far. The others being Ben milligan, and SGM. Mike Vining.
But one thing I really respect is the displays and explanations of both success and failure. The real person behind the title. I remember being a young naive Sailor 20 years ago now and being told more of the mythology of special operations more than the fact that people make up the ranks. I of course learned that through the years. But your interviews,,as well as your own experiences truly bring the reality to the viewer.
    Thanks a lot guys!

But I was unpleasantly surprised by the stories of using tasers on the heads and balls of detainees. And this was after Abu Ghraib. More surprised that this was done by SF, not some barely out of basic regular unit. I expected better.

We nearly lost a a GREAT company clerk because all promotions stopped at HHQ and she was passed over for Spec 4 twice. The Captain Cowder had to go and get it taken care of. If she had been male, it would have been all SOL. Same company, same promotion round; A company's supply sergeant was promoted to E-6. Our supply sergeant had been an E-5 longer than she had been in the Army; but she was female and black.

In the later part of the show there was a huge noise that sounded like the ocean coming in. Need to clean that up whatever it was. Always a problem with live broadcasts

It’s interesting him describing the almost childish ness of delta referring to the gym protocol were you have to leave if three delta guys walk in. I know someone who worked with the British sas as part of their support team and apparently they do the same thing, they were at a pub and they spoke to a member of another unit and was told that if they saw them again not to speak to them.
As well as the ops tempo with the guy wanting 200 raids apparently the sas has the same wanting to brake a record of something. It’s interesting to see no matter where you are you get the same type of guys in these units.
( should note this is all from what I heard but I know my mate did actually get to work with the sas in a support role so if they wanted to make something up they could deffo make something up more crazy)

I think it was the culture of a specific CAG Squadron that had strong "Ranger" influences.
Basically the Operators in B Squadron like to act like Ranger NCOS and treat CIF like their Ranger privates.

hey everyone if you are like me, and love this channel, for 1$ you can unlock over 50 hours of content on patreon. and many of these interviews on patreon is the super raw awesome shit the person being interviewed is afraid to put out there on youtube for everyone to see, but willing to tell a couple 100 super fans on patreon. its well worth the 1$ a month. that's less than a candy bar a month. and much sweeter and filling

Does anyone know what Mike means when he said "pull your tab" at the 1:01:00 mark in the podcast? Does it mean that they are not only kicking them out of the teams but also to put it on their service record that they never went through SFAS? Can someone explain this to me?

    • @ernestgrundeman9534
      @ernestgrundeman9534 3 года назад +3

When someone says pulling a tab. It means the person fucked up big time but usually not bad enough to get kicked out of the military. So they take their tab ie Range/Sf tab from them and then send them to a line unit to hangout with line dogs. People can get their tabs pulled for failing schools, PT test and not meeting the standards of the unit. As long as they aren’t complete douchebags they’ll usually let them come back after a period of time. And that’s usually determined by the chain of command. But if the unit just doesn’t like them at all and thinks there’s no hope for them they won’t let them come back at all. But if you get your tab pulled you’ll most likely never make it to E-7 because you’ll have a shitty NCOER that’ll hold you back. It’s a career killer to say the least.
