Thanks for all the feedback on the first version with some audio issues. This new one should be better. Fitting that our Afghan edition had some problems… Thanks for all your support!
I enjoy your podcast and I watch everything "Shrek". The audio sync is pretty bad, It's like gibberish. I have no idea what they're saying, but I'd watch Shrek in Greek.
@@gaylebordeaux7632 syncing issues I’m fairly sure. I hear you tho and I hate it as well. Don’t think that’s the case here at all. Mutual respect from interviewer and person being interviewed, with all respect.
John is such a unique and candid individual. His perspective comes from experience and he is honest and not afraid to talk about the massive elephant in the room. He gets that corruption, fraud and deceit are behind much of what the fake news spins as just unfortunate situations. Ryan you are a great host and interviewer. These podcasts very captivating conversations.
John, you're the guy I would die for, with a smile on my face. You are the living legend. Cool af. Sheriff of Baghdad, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thanks Ryan for the great interview.
Dude Shrek is by far the best guest you have on the podcast he is freaking hilarious down to earth but at the same time you could tell he would take you apart piece by piece if you pissed him off another awesome session Ryan thanks man
Yeah johns a fight you dont want any part of if he can walk the streets of Afghan on his own and still be here to tell the tale he has to be a badass i bet Afghan kids are still telling stories about this lone bearded maniac American walking the streets taking Taliban lifes 😂😂😂🏴💙🇺🇸👊👊👊✌
Delighted to have Shrek back on your platform. Looking forward to part 4 and 5 and so on as you guys have a great communication chemistry. Keep up the good works guys. From Ireland.
I said that in another video so true . He’s a kid in a man’s body is deadly . He’s a big goon you wouldn’t wanna pick a fight with him at a bar might not work out for ya
Ryan, First and foremost John is an awesome dude. Absolutely one of the best warfighters our country has ever produced. Second, as a former Agency Officer, have you ever run into any of your Russian counterparts while on assignment? If so, what gave them away? Trade craft? Etc?
John is about the most humble SF OPERATOR I've heard. He doesn't just talk about being a badness, he straight says they did shit shows and shit like that. He doesn't talk like seals, wanting everyone to know he was a badass fucker and did combat.
Fantastic mental health nuggets inside of down to earth “guy” talk just like around the barracks or late night after midnight chow. Shreks comments about purpose and about continuing to take care of the people around us need to be heard, and taken to heart, by every combat vet. It helps us to understand ourselves and to guide our thinking back into positive energy and to get away from those self-destructive lies. Thanks much, and please, keep the conversations going.
I absolutely love Shrek's outlook on life and moving forward with writing another chapter... That's applicable to to everyone, not just those who served.
I love John. He's so down to earth. He doesn't play and want everyone to know he was a badass sf operator. He says, half the time it was shit shows. He says, if you make a plan. There's no reason with the best assets in the world yu can't pull off your plan. Seals say " if something can go wrong it will go wrong. Murphys law shows up", and they want you to know they were badges, made it thru buds, war is hell, bla bla, John is down to earth.
Thanks for another great interview. You do not get to hear people like John speak freely too often. It also meant a lot to hear what he had to say about Afghanistan. There are a lot of hurt feelings out there right now, his words helped.
Thanks for fixing the Audio!!! This is important for the Military and Veteran community!!! Also for general public to get an inside viewpoint from a warrior!!!
I love the fact John acts like its no big deal being sf. Seals wanna tell how bad ass they were, look at what I did, I was a badass, John just talks as if hey, I was cut out for this, I just did my job and don't want credit like Seals do. Awesome.
Yeah I love johns attitude well most s.f are just like this humble and down to earth but it's amazing hearing what he got upto what a man and legend i bet Afghan kids are still telling stories about this lone bearded maniac American walking the streets taking Taliban lifes 😂🏴💙🇺🇸👊👊👊✌
Shrek is the real deal … SOB is one BAMF. Love ya, Shrek! Your whiskey reviews are some of the most entertaining things I’ve ever seen. I saw the same thing for AFG back in my CGSC studies in 2009. We were never going to get out of there with anything in hand. Nothing. Thank you, Ryan for making these stories come to life, Buck 🇺🇸
This was a breath of fresh air. I'm glad the connection was shot so he could just speak his mind. Edit: No offense Ryan, big fan but you know what I mean.
Holy shit! I love the interviews with McPhee but this one was so frustrating because of the talking over each other. We need a do-over. Please have him back and do this again.
I could listen to him(SHREK) all day long. He is a very good storyteller. I dont know how many times I've watched his interviews and I never get tired in doing it over and over. That's how good he is for me. God bless you sir (SHREK) and thank you and all the people in the service and to those who served for your service and bravery. From Philippines ❤
Delta is the outside the box boys! When selecting these guys they look for someone that goes against the grain. Thats why “shrek” is my favorite character!
Kentucky native and avid whisk(e)y enthusiast, yes Buffalo Trace does produce all of those bourbons John mentioned. However they are NOT the same mashbill, Pappy and Weller are both wheated bourbons, which happen to be the same mashbill. Wellers is the one that didn't make the cut to be Pappy Van Winkle, Ancient Age and Buffalo Trace are both normal bourbons with rye being the flavor grain instead of wheat.
Thanks Ryan for your podcast. I love to listen to the interviews and personal accounts, it's been great! Thanks John for what you shared, good advice and perspective!
LOVE JOHN! More please!!! Love you channel. Best guests, great interview, Amazing channel. Wish you the best and much success. -Walk with GOD, He walks with you…
SOB your statement on Technology Reliance was spot on. I wish you could have seen the War College AAN war games in the last 90s - as soon as the technological advantage of the Allied Forces was lost on the battlefield, the Allied Officers would ask for a restart of the exercise and you could see their frustration. This outcome was set long before.
This man is a top 5 interview guest in this genre or space and CS a top 2 or 3 platforms. That said, not having the comms worked out degraded the opportunity Not enough to lose appreciation amd, respect for the SOB or Ryan but still. I'd love to hear from this pair the AAR from the incident in Tora Bora when the Afghans (embedded) turned on Delta operators and and I read - I believe in "Dalton Fury's" account of the incident - a Mexican standoff ensued. Keep up the great stories and guests, Ryan, and God Bless men like McPhee and others who bring the heat to our enemies.
Shrek was a true commando who actually did commando stuff guys could only dream about. His breed of man is lost nowadays. Hollywood is so blind talk about a movie career
This was really nice and interesting and I'm glad he was granted the ability to speak uncensored the way he did. There's a a fucking shit load of value in this video.
Oh, watching this a week later for the second time around I can start to understand the Convo and how delayed the question/answers are. Would love to hear it re uploaded.
Hi Ryan, Loved Round 3 with Shrek especially his outlook on life after conflict. However audio/video feed between you both was mostly out of sync. Can you rebroadcast? Ellis Greenstein
Shrek is a legend; Ryan is a legend. But it's clear that their backgrounds and work have been very diferrent. I see myself as more of a Ryan in this conversation, if you can call it that. If only he could answer the questions asked of him honestly without giving too much away....I think the answers are more incredible than most of us can imagine. The answer is yes, we are better than this.
Yep! Watching this again! Fighting for our brothers next to us, nothing else. I think Shrek is my Dad or Grandad or at least my older brother or cousin. I'm 50
1:22:02 John nailed it simply and precisely. The Afghan people not side with you if you don't give them safety and financial opportunity. People aren't that concerned with democracy if they are constantly preoccupied with their food supply and hoping not to get whacked by a rival or extorted by a gang of warlords. Focusing on propping up a puppet government wasn't the first order of importance. 42:30 Just spend into the civilian economy to victory. America becomes the wealthiest sugar daddy in Afghanistan. Easy (with some fine print).

It’s 90% workable - needs love
Make that 50%

Ryan’s speaking in the future and John’s replying in the past. Groovy
Not fucking groovy, Gary
Just let Shrek talk….He gets more fascinating the more he drinks. Love it. Thanks
It's not that he's cutting off Shrek, the audio and video is not synced properly xD
That means, STFU, Ryan.
Sync problems cause of the internet
Nah they weren’t that off, he did interrupt a lot, then soon as he got into ww3, ww4, and some politics CIA boi instantly diverts convo subject 🤔
Yes agreed. Too much interruption.
If this was a 6 plus hour chat I would happily sit and listen to it all.
Over talking sucks

Q: Did you work with any Afghans?

Hold on. Stay here ... Let me get Saddam Hussein's sweater in my closet and put it on🔥🤣🤣🤣.
He started talking about this right after I read this comment and now I have chills
Thank's for some priceless nuggets. The premise of PTSD is spot on for me. What I wouldn't give to sit and have a drink and BS for an hour with John.
That’s a fact. He would be a huge help to a lot of people
