Well have to include the fact that Twister gave a hard punch even after the bell rang
Twister literally killed master Hong though
I'm not sure whether you watch the movie, but the boxer (called Twister) doesn't hold back and kill a master in previous match, and play dirty in this match too, such as hitting Ip Man even though the round has ended, changing the rules to gives disadvantages to Ip Man. I'd say he had it coming.
@@RiderBreaker And that means Ip Man isn't weak to Twister or win due to 'plot armor' like those naysayers downplay him. Ip Man is the one at disadvantage.

Lmao the ref must hate Twister or something
Mario Yamazaki in disguise
The dude had the best seat in the house, he's enjoying the fight too much and forgot to stop it
He probably saw the previous match where Twister brutally punch Master Wong to death and the ref there doesn't even stop the fight, so he doing the same too, to let Twister experience the same shit.
I mean the ref wasn't following MMA rules, he was following boxing ones. Twister had to be on the ground, shoulders and hips. Technically he was still standing. It took a while to work out a set of rules that allowed grappling and ground and pound without forcing the competitors to murder one another.
Also Twister was supposed to win, so the ref was likely unsure if he'd get in trouble calling it for Ip Man, and hoping Twister was just resting his eyes or something.
Changing the rules halfway through, seems legit.
Also one dude is wearing gloves, no shirt, and shorts, the other one is wearing no gloves, shirts and pants… nothing about this fight makes any sense
The movie makes more sense if you know more about Chinese history. Specifically the era in which Ip Man was born.

This is one of the most emotional fights I have ever watched. Even though Ip was at a disadvantage he still pulled through. And using the old mans fighting style ( Rest In Peace) to win in the end. Even though he could have killed twister he knew it was wrong. Even if it was for his friend. Great fight, brought me close to tears.
how do you figure hes disadvantaged? i found this fight 100% ridiculous. imagine youve got weights on your hands, and small pillows on them as well. now you have to fight a guy who is not only bare knuckled but also kicking, elbowing(something you cant do) and stabbing his thumbs into your eyes. if there was ever a disadvantage it was the boxer. if they fought by bixing rules he would have got his shit wrecked, hands down.
not to talk shit but if im ever in a serious fight i hope that the person im fighting has cushioned hands and a set of rules he won't break that i can. ridiculous.
@@brandoneller5359 I don't know if u hv watched the movie or not. The fight isn't strictly 'boxing' here, rather not the western boxing actually. It was a match between two different martial arts to be specific. Both are terminologically boxing - one is American (or western) Boxing and another is Chinese Boxing. In the latter all those are allowed and that makes it look more artistic while in the former a great muscular framework is needed. Both were fighting the other style , and not just the other person.

@@mikitadou He had mocked Chines martial arts earlier and in so many words said he can beat Chinese and their martial arts with his boxing, if I recall correctly.

This really is a pretty great movie. If one wishes to be cynical, it is possible to see it as simply a stylized nationalistic venting of grievances against westerners for their historical imperializing over China, but I suspect there's a greater statement of virtue to be found in it (and Ip Man himself says as much after his victory). When Master Hong and Ip Man both describe themselves as standing for Chinese martial arts, I prefer to see it as less a "yeah, go China!" moment and more an idea of "within the Chinese culture -- as in all cultures -- is the possibility for frailty and corruption (as we've seen with the gangsters and antagonists even among the Chinese characters; for all his virtues, Master Hong was a possibly willfully blind leader), but there is also the potentiality for great virtue and heroism." In following this, the brand of virtue possible within Chinese culture is worth fighting and dying for, especially in defiance of those who exemplify the particularly arrogant corruption of an imperialist/supremacist culture (like Twister as well as, in greater severity, the Imperial Japanese in the prior film). This is not to say that non-Chinese cultures are necessarily corrupt or malevolent -- there is admitted elegance in the Japanese martial artists, for instance, and Ip Man's final opponent in the first film even demonstrates a code of honor (albeit appropriated for malevolent purposes). It is those who have permitted themselves to become avatars of the most corrupt and rotten portions of their culture who are truly malevolent, and it's that sort whom Ip Man must oppose.
When we get to America in the fourth film, one can imagine the idea of the States must've held some promise for Ip Man: here is a nation founded off of a principle of virtue rather than simply a people (it is a credal nation, after all). Perhaps it is in such a place that the virtues of the different nations & cultures can at last convene. What Ip Man discovers in the fourth film is that the same rottenness he has opposed elsewhere in previous encounters still does have manifestations in even this new world. As before, this doesn't mean the United States is a malevolent place or culture: in the scene when the morally warped drill sergeant is brutalizing the other martial artist, there is a sense that the others in the ranks intuit a deep immorality is surfacing here (though they also do not take action to stop him). It does mean that there is an added hypocrisy in such manifestations of the old malevolence: this is a place defined by its upholding a virtue (liberty) above nation or culture, and so if the old malevolence of supremacist arrogance ever surfaces, it does so in direct defiance of that binding virtue. Perhaps that is why Ip Man is especially unforgiving in his fight against the sergeant, landing the throat-punch that he'd withheld even against the Japanese general (though this little detail is purely speculative and also not necessarily that important to the point; just a thought). The summative idea, I suppose, is that the Ip Man films are not the same as simple nationalism, since the character does not embody his culture writ large (which is fallible) but more specifically the virtue within his culture (which is heroic).
Fucking excellent analysis Brofessor!
I don't believe for a second anyone believes the following: " here is a nation founded off of a principle of virtue rather than simply a people (it is a credal nation, after all"

Twister is so energetic and master yip is having patience and in the last patience is the 🔑
Including imoji image where a typed word would have done better is TIGHT
I absolutely love his way of thinking. Its like when he get knocked out its like a chance to think where he goes wrong & what he is allowed & not allowed to do. He first thinks "don't go head on" by doing that dodging his punches he was able to see how his opponent relies on his biceps muscles for reach so what he does is that take his arms away by hitting the sensitive muscles between the biceps causing them to strain each & everytime he throws a punch. Now that his opponent is out thier comfort range he then goes for his sense of coordination by taking out one ear. By then his opponent is so scared that the only thing he can do is block & with lack of coordination it is only inevitable that his punches will break through & knock out is imminent.

The only time Ip Man beat a strong opponent without rolling his sleeves

based and true
IP Man was the greatest ever at Wing Chun, which is boxing on steroids, not only do they train quickness and speed, but the ability to block and strike at the same time. Plus the ability to use their legs to not only attack but to defend. I get weight difference but we are all human and all have the same critical spots that can take us down.
@@christianjames3316 IP would have lost, wing chun is line fighting, if you dont know what i mean watch one of the actual people trained in it and watch how over exagerated all these movies were, wingchun would get destroyed by boxing all the distance youd have too close and the footwork of boxers lol be realistic, a boxer would have won!
@@christianjames3316 did you ever fight in your whole life? It can be sports or street fight, doesn't matter. I'm guessing not and I don't mean this in a bad way, mind you. Those movies are very good at selling Chinese martial arts. They are, for the most part, propaganda. Let me explain.
Notice how the Chinese are always the poor underdog/oppressed that gets beaten up badly but then a hero comes along (with the strength to carry you home). Since before Bruce Lee it was like that. The enemy could be a fictional japanese karate school; an American: a random japanese general, etc. It's not relevant. What matters is that Chinese Kung Fu is always beating those "other" martial arts, that are usually well characterized.
Compare this to Ong Bak, any Statham movie, the two Boyka movies, etc. Martial arts movies do not try to sell you their style this heavily because they are not the national identity nor the national cultural product of the movies producers. Kung Fu is.
Now back to actual fighting. Xuxiaodong, a 40ish low level Chinese MMA amateur fighter, has beaten several "Kung Fu masters" one of them an Wing Chun master. Why? Because Chinese martial arts do not spar. They are actually just for show. Chi Sao, Wing Chun's contact training, is utterly useless. No one spends that much time with their hands slapping each other. Watch any MMA fight and you will see what I mean. Notice that there are no wing Chun practitioners in Pride. Why would that be?
That being said, what he does to the boxer here is a complete lie, or, more accurate, is a way to compel us and make us feel good about the movie. It's the end of the movie, so catharsis is in order. So it's obviously a good fiction artifact.
Reasons for it being unreal: if you can predict someone's pattern like that (unlikely, but not impossible), then you have the challenge of actually hitting them. Box's punch are quick as fuck, I practice Muay Thai, so I know that, but if you need confirmation watch any box/k1/pride match and you will see. Twister is leagues above him in weight, his punches technique are practiced to perfection, same for footwork, so he is a moving target and he moves fast. Hitting him is no joke.
Reason 2: He would hardly feel his elbows with that much muscle, no matter how perfect the technique is. Elbows are strong, yes, but a rigid contracted muscle can hold a lot of the shock. That's what they are for, actually, design wise I mean.
Third: "wing Chun is box on steroids". No, it's not. Boxing is not "using hands to hit". If it was, Bruce Lee wouldn't give a fuck about it (to keep it inside the family, so to speak) Instead, he loved it and incorporated a lot of it in his JKD. There is a lot of distance calc., weight shifting, feints, ducks, etc. Not to mention angles. Wing Chun is bad boxing, since it has no hook, no uppercuts (straight punches only), and it's principles are all dated. Here it would be a superior technique empowered by the gloves (they actually protect the fighter's hand, not the dude's face) vs an weaker technique in a frail body. You can imagine the outcome.
(Everything I said here can be googled if you wanna confirm, specially the gloves thing).
@@christianjames3316 look for real fight agaisnt traditional martial arts they all get destroy they are not used to get beaten you can see it in the fights they get confused when they realise they aint strong enought
IP Man movies are awesome.
Maja aa gyaa 🔥🔥
Westerners speaking probability and logics here, but they take pride in Rocky beating Ivan Drago. What a contradiction? lol.
You are saying that becuase you are jealous 😂
Rocky blocks punches with his face. How the hell drago supposed to beat such a guy?
@@shubhamsinha6363 Yeah bcos I am jealous of a stereotypic shit 😂😂.
@cookie monster And he gets beaten straight for 10 rounds and finishes hmthe enemy in just 2 rounds. Please I have seen all Rocky movies.
@@rahulram4300 Well, that is what made everything look like a Joke.
As a man who practices Wing-Chun I love watching these scenes
yeah.. talk about cheating. when ip got knocked out the ref. stopped twister from continuously punching ip until his unconscious.. not like ip. twister got knocked out.. and instead going to nuetral corner. ip continously punched twister.. its a boxing match for god sake... wing chun is full of cheaters and people who understand and follow rules..
yeah must have feels good that the master of wing chun cheated his way to victory.. have you watched an mma fight lately.. poking other persons eyes is ruled for disqualification. . wing chun is basically for cheaters and low life..
id rather learn boxing.. sure twister is arrogant at least he play by the rules... not like ip man whos humble but cheated his way to win.
Ok so some quick facts. One it's a movie. None of this actually happened in his life except parts of the first movie. Second the rules never stated no kicking and he used it to his advantage. Also was OK with the rules until he started losing to it. Also he says he wanted to see what "Chinese boxing" was about and he definitely did. Also despite having all those limitations thrown at him he still found away to get the job done
twister punched ip man after the bell rang he isnt a fair fighter either just so you know
@@pogz1 "plays by the rules" Have you seen the movie?
Epic movie!☯️❤
Exclusive fight ❤️
The whole “we’ve suddenly banned kicking” was one of the dumbest moments in this entire movie. That’s not how any of this works.
america am i right HAHA
ill walk myself out
hated that rule bullshit
It’s intentional, the whole thing is obv rigged so that twister would win, and obv the ref will be favoring towards him
@@keeshengang4132 Luckily someone got it
