Hey Martin. Thank you for showing of all these switches. It's greatly appreciated. I am wondering: have you ever used a Macbook keyboard? I'm still on a 2012 Macbook Air and want to get a K3 soon. However, since it will be my first mechanical keyboard ever I have no clue on how switches work. I've done some research and will get the optical browns with the board itself, and I'm thinking of getting the banana switches on top of that. In case you are familiar with the Macbook keyboard, can you tell me if the feel of that keyboard is "tactile" too? And if so if it's an "early bump" tactile? Is the sort of counter resistance I feel when pressing it the "bump"? Because then I know these two would be suitable for me as I really love the feel of this keyboard and would like to try and get something that has a similar feel and typing experience. I'm hoping you can help me out.
Hi Danny. I’m glad you like the content. I have a MacBook Pro 2012, 2019, and I have used the standalone Apple Magic Keyboard. The 2012 keyboard is mushy and not mechanical at all, the 2019 and the Magic keyboard has a more mechanical feeling although they have a very short travel distance. I actually think the Magic keyboard is fantastic. When you get your K3, you will notice that even though it is low profile, it is higher than what you’re used to. I suggest you get a wrist rest as well. I think the banana and browns are quite similar. If I had to pick one, I’d pick brown right now, but I am still getting used to the bananas so I might change my mind in a few weeks. I would probably get the blue as well if you want some of that clicky mechanical feeling. I can’t tell if the Magic keyboard feels like an early bump or not. Maaaybe.
Now that I think about it, the bananas might be more similar to the Apple Keyboard feel than the brown. Get brown, bananas, blue and red and you’re covered :p
@@remyloz8843 Depends on what you are after. On a mechanical switch it is, like the name suggests, the mechanical parts that make the actual registration. On the optical it is breaking the light beam between the two points. Optical should be faster if I remember correctly so if you are gaming f.ex, that might be a better option. I think most people won’t notice that big of a difference.
the point of low profile keyboard is to have not need of using a wristpad, I hate it, been using k120 bare for years, tried mechanical keyboard once and gave it away, this k7 seems interesting , but its risky for me to spend 100$ for something I might not like.
Advertised as "wireless". Actually Bluetooth. Connected to my system with supplied (too short) USB cable. Multiple keys do not work. The product is sold "as is" - there is no warranty. Tried to get an RMA number and a return shipping label. Keychron demands a video proving that the keyboard does not work. If the keys do NOT work, the feel DOES NOT MATTER, and the reliability DOES NOT MATTER!
Lol apple fanboys always have to explicitly drop that they're apple fanboys. Can't just say "I'm going to use bluetooth to connect this to my computer." Or even, "I'm going to use bluetooth to connect this." No, it's "I'm going to use bluetooth to connect this to my MacBook Pro™ SKU: X02YZ1ZYZX" lol get rekt
This can be valuable information. Some laptops and desktops will need a bluetooth dongle. The MacBook Pro works out of the box. This way, if someone has BT issues, we can filter out if the actual hardware is the issue.

@@MartinAaberge how heavy to press are the mints and bananas compared to the magic keyboard? How tactile do you find the mints and bananas? Cheers!
@@roadToRevolution to be honest, they feel rather identical in actuation force. The Apple keyboard has a more distinct click than the bananas/mints.
@@MartinAaberge thanks! Comparing mints and bananas: which have the more distinct click? 🤔
Is this optical or mechanical?
Optical :)
@@MartinAaberge is better than mechanical?
@@remyloz8843 Depends on what you are after. On a mechanical switch it is, like the name suggests, the mechanical parts that make the actual registration. On the optical it is breaking the light beam between the two points. Optical should be faster if I remember correctly so if you are gaming f.ex, that might be a better option. I think most people won’t notice that big of a difference.
Are the keycaps replaceable with anything aftermarket? Not a fan of the stock keycron abs keycaps.
Not much. I haven’t checked properly. For other keycaps, I’ll get another board I think. This might end up as a travel companion though :)
the point of low profile keyboard is to have not need of using a wristpad, I hate it, been using k120 bare for years, tried mechanical keyboard once and gave it away, this k7 seems interesting , but its risky for me to spend 100$ for something I might not like.
You always need that friend nearby who will buy your stuff should you decide to not want to use it anymore :D
you didn't tell which you preferred - mint vs banana
Banana ended up as my daily driver :)
@@MartinAaberge Have you tried brown? That's the headache I have right now - brown vs banana.
@@bajatoma yes. I used brown before these were a thing and used them a lot! But I ended up replacing them with these ;)
@@MartinAaberge I have ordered 🍌
When doing sound tests, you need to not have your mic attached to the desk.
Absolutely. My setup does not have the mic attached to the desk anymore :) thanks for the comment.
That’s really unfortunate. Hope you’re able to sort it out with support eventually.
This way, if someone has BT issues, we can filter out if the actual hardware is the issue.
leave my page up and page down alone buddy
Haha. No way!
this guy has no taste in good keyboards
Thanks for stopping by. I have a few keyboards in mind which are better looking and more premium. Just haven’t had the budget yet:)
@@MartinAaberge oh ok I will check that out
