Whats your impresion on performance comparing serverless and dedicated pools? I have experienced delays using serverless as it spins up and before the data is cached. So, I m curious how well serverless is suited as a directconnection in power bi for endusers of a report.
With Serverless there will always be a cold start issue and with no actual cache itself it will go back to storage and read data every time a query is executed. Connecting Power BI in DirectQuery is convenient when data volumes are large but comes at a price in terms of performance and also data processed (which is how you’re charged). It’s generally recommended to import data into Power BI from Serverless rather than using DirectQuery. In some cases like hybrid tables where only a small slice is being queried in DQ it may be acceptable
