Great job, my man 🎣 As a wee youngster, I had the privileged opportunity to fish with legendary Colorado fly fishing master, Joe Butler. We went as group with my good friend and his father & Joe. He was using an unfamiliar-to-me-at-the-time fly fishing rig with the tiniest flies, yet skunkin' us all! Truly a memory. Hence, using an unfamiliar technique, like jerk baitin', is something I wouldn't mind trying 🎣
I remembered Joe Butler's equally masterful fishing friend by the name of Del Canty. For anyone interested in Colorado's fishing history, it would be worthwhile to check these guys out! They both held some fine records for trout in Colorado and Wyoming, in particular, at the tailwaters of The Flaming Gorge Reservoir 🎣
I've been fishing the past seasons with nothing bigger than 5cm lures, however I caught my personal best river brown trout yesterday on a 9cm jerkbait after just a few casts with it lol! Now I'm looking for all the information available for this type of fishery, and I can't wait to watch your video as the description really fits my situation!! The river I fish only allows lures up to 7cm (now I know why lol), so I will have to resort to a bit of rule bending here and there ;) Edit: Super cool video and going to stock up on those Berkley stick baits, are these the 2,5'' or 3,6'' versions?
@@miguelv2985 I use to have the same problem if I may recommend jerkbait that actually suspends just right. Megabass Nanahan or Megabass Great Hunting. Here is link to the one i like to use, pick any pattern: www.tacklewarehouse.com/Megabass_X-Nanahan_Jerkbait/descpage-MBXN.html
I have become jerk bait junkie especially using the Dynamic Lure line in Colorado rivers as well. Looking for a river to fish this weekend. Which river was feature at the beginning. I love this video, however i love that crank bait box.
Great comment! Thank you! I agree on all points. My favorite of their jerkbaits is the brown trout and the ghost. Very good options! As you can tell I’m obsessed with jerkbaits and have many other brands.

This is effective literally under any spillway with trout in it every cast.
I started using jerkbaits but lost a lot due to snags between rocks or wood structures. How do you avoid getting snagged?

A eurotackle z-spender in 1/4oz works all day in the ark tailwaters
That's one of my favorite jerkbaits!
