For years I have been tracking down smaller lures for river Smallmouth. In my local river juvenile Steelhead and Salmon are a huge forage source for Smallmouth. Seeing JDM jerkbaits in small sizes and trout colors is really exciting. This is going to open up some new angling options and some amazing catches. Thank you for offering both the information and the tackle. I will be picking up an assortment of lures to try.
I have about 100 days of real studious targeting fishing experience with good numbers. This is a new rabbit hole for me. I'm intrigued with suspended jerk bait. I've only learned a few baits well. Thanks a whole bunch for the swimming demos!!!
Hj-6 Black and chrome. Best susp jerk ever.
By far one of my favorite videos. I have had a blast playing around with some of these baits and they have not disappointed. And one of the best parts for me when fishing these baits is that each fish at the end if my line can be different.
Thanks for watching Tim! It's been so fun watching you catch so many species!!!
Awesome breakdown! So excited to see more JDM trout content!
Thank you for watching! We're excited to hopefully bring more trout content!
I caught my first trout on the jerk bait. It was really fun, now im looking for new bait to fish, thanks for the break down
I love fishing the ultralight rigs, they even make catching bluegill fun!
100%!!
Thanks for all the info, I'm in UK and lure fishing is way behind the rest but it is changing. Just started making lures, and custom painting. It's great to see what's out there. Cheers.
"Deep Thoughts, by Jack Handey"🤣 I remember absolutely loading the boat on the Alabama River, way back in 1995, with a ⅛oz Tiny Trap. I've never forgotten that week of just fish, after fish, after fish. Chrome/blue and chartreuse/black. Man, have lures come a long way!
That Megabass 70 is the deal for small heads at Table Rock Lake. Another great video. And yes I’m going broke watching these vids!! O well I big ballin in fishing tackle.
Big Baller!!! Tackle's the only thing that matters right?!?!
@@thehookuptackle_usa I probably should make a house payment. Maybe. Lol
Im so glad you are getting into BFS.Its been impossible to get quality gear in the states.
It's been so fun!
been using and loving jerkbaits and small paddle tails(2-3 inch) for trout the last few years. been telling people left and right. its something everyone needs to enjoy its a really fun bite
Always Learn something when I get a chance to watch these.....feels like fish school!!!
Thank you for watching my friend!
awesome video on the trout jerkbait break down, now we need a BFS video!
Just ordered some, can't wait to try them out!
GH50 is absolute fire. Slays rainbows and lakers out here in Canada
Love you guys just got in my gan craft hat so sick!
that is such a sick hat!! thank you for watching and Thank you for your business!
Thanks Ben, outstanding breakdown of JDM trout jerkbaits! Love this channel, I’m up in Toronto and can’t wait to throw them in creeks this April
Awesome man! Thank you for watching! Please keep us posted on your spring/summer success!
I love the rozante 63sp. I’ve caught every species of fresh water fish on them. I use a Daiwa steez ct Sv paired with a Daiwa rebellion rod. 6lb fluorocarbon.
I ordered every trout jerkbait from you guys. BFS trend. Glad you posted this. Waiting on some baby girons.
Thank you for your business! I need to see about those baby Girons!
@@thehookuptackle_usa is possible to back order lol. Need before march.
Thank you for this info on those two great hunting. I was wondering the difference. And the info of the spearhead ryuki definitely thought it was duo realis so just duo.
Thank you for watching!
Great info here. I fish a lot of still water and interested in top 3 colors for the Great Hunting 48 Dive. Based on the out of stock colors, many think the Ghost Pearl Lime, MG Blue Stream, and MG Lime Gold may be game changers. Do you and/or any here have other recommendations? I was thinking about TS Ayu, LX Chartreuse Back Yamame, and Takumi Wakasagi. Thoughts on top 3 recommendations?
The video I was just looking for! I had a question if you dont mind. What kind of line do you suggest using when throwing jdm crank/jerk baits? Would ester or nylon work? Or would braid be the best option?
I love BFS fishing for trout and panfish :)
I never knew that you was Orvis Fly Fishing guide dude. Being bfs for while now and gettin stuck with it. I think i cannot go back to fly fishing. BFS stuffisso addicting and fun!
Those are very nice innovations on the Rapala Original Floater which i have been throwing for over 20 years for Crappie, Bluegill, Trout, Salmon, and the American Shad. I may give this JDM product a try. I just subscribed to this channel and hit the like button.
JDM lures are beautiful and very well made but rapala are rapala ,i mean they are still an awesome lures i have some count down and other models and they just plain out catch fish let and right
@mojondro please share some of your favorite rapala lures for trout fishing.. thanks.
ive been using small jerk baits for trout for a minute i've been using the small yo-zuri's an the trout magnet jerk bait but those def look a lot better then the ones that are around at the moment from the us market. But to use them the trout where ur at have to be pretty aggressive or not sometimes u will just scare the trout away from lure constantly landing in water if there finicky so yea just a little tip
Thank you for the tip!
Here in minnesota we have a bunch of wild brown trout streams and they hammer the duo rozante 78, such a good bait
Would floating be better option for slow current and pools in creeks than the fast sinking??
Awesome video-the only good jerkbait summer bite I got on was with a Lucky Craft Air Slash 80mm(?)floating jerkbait in copper/black back.6lb flourocarbon & a glass spinning rod.Smallies were hammering it!!
Nice!!!
We use this style of lures for Bream fishing in Australia.
Pontoon 21s are a fantastic lure
Daiwa double clutches
Atomics
Berkley protech
etc.
But UL spin rods are the go.BFS is making sone traction but nothing like the USA.
haha another aussie bream angler here
@EzraSwannellFishing
Hey my man.
Brisbane here BFS tragic since 2012.
Mainly used for bread and butter species including squid land based.
@@nenadnedovic9246 nice mate love my squid, looking to get a bfs outfit soon
What’s amazing is a worm is still king in my books. I’ve really been liking euro tackles z spender. 2” natural suspending jerk bait.
Hey guys!,i ordered the Levante 6'11" jerkbait special just today and i was wondering what size line you guys would suggest to use?. Thanks
Great vid 👍🙏
Enjoyable as always...
Rapala = trendsetter 🤠
What BFS combos/set ups do you recommend? Budget, but not cheap!
Great Video,
Im just getting into BFS.
What would be a good rod to pair with 16 Aldebran?
Plan on throwing small jerk baits like this.
Than you....
The DUO Rozantes are some of the best casting mini Jerkbaits ever.
Agreed!
Need to give them a try 👍👍
Do it!!👍
Would be awesome if you guys could get some of the owner cultiva ajing jigs and paddle tails in. Pretty soon my trout box is going to have as much variety as my bass box.
I would like to visit your store unfortunately it is damn far away from the Norway 😎🇧🇻
Well, maybe one of these days my friend! 🍻
Which plugs work best in strong current ?
Can we use these lure for Salterwater Fishing?
Ben, what is your go-to JDM trout jerkbait for shallow fast water (2 ft or less)?
Hey Ben you should start selling bfs reel and bfs rod. Get some shipment of jdm bfs rod and I guarantee you you’ll sell them.. Been trying to buy some in the states but can’t really find them. I usually order from Japan, but I hate the wait...
So when you see both Duo Realis and Spearhead Ryuki on a listing- does that mean it works for both? I'm looking at a Duo realis Spearhead Ryuki jointed swim bait- 70mm. At that size I have no doubt it would work for bass as well but- does Dou market stuff this way or is this just some merchant who got his listings mixed up? I noticed my little Duo tailspin was listed as a Ryuki bait as well- I hadn't thought about using my tail spins for trout but- makes sense.
Anything can work for anything. They're designed for one thing - but can be used for anything!
The bait you’re holding at the 9:35 mark. What color and what bait is it?
What’s the difference between a specific BFS rod and my ultralight inshore saltwater casting rod? Also maybe a rod and reel lineup would be helpful along with where the best place to order them.
It's just a matter of lure rating and how light of stuff they can throw.
@@thehookuptackle_usa gotcha I know my old 18 UL says 1/32 as the lightest but the action is like a whippey stick. I didn’t know if BFS rods feel more like a normal freshwater rod with a faster stiffer action.
True bfs sticks are bass focused, they have ultra light tips paired with a stout backbone and faster action. Major Craft Speedstyle 64ulbf is example of true jdm bfs style rod.
Ultra light casting rods that are not bfs tend to be noodles from tip to butt and are generally trout focused (for freshwater) and very parabolic. Major Craft finetails series is an example of a jdm non bfs ultra light casting rod.
@@amirazzabi140 gotcha I know my UL bait caster is a noodle and more a speckled trout and redfish rod. So that helps a lot thanks bud!
So fucking helpful. Can't wait for the BFS ep. I'm just waiting for the bearings for my Tatula 100 and I'll have a go once I can get a BFS rod. You guys should think about carrying MajorCraft I know they're not totally JDM but they're more affordable than some of the megabass and etc. Just a thought. I have like 3 of their rods and love them two true JDM actions.
thanks for watching man! We'll keep them on the radar!
That's what I was asking and you answered my question...does size make the jerk bait a trout jerk? Cause I get plenty of bass biting my small light jerks
So, the baits I listed here are really designed for trout, but they're equally effective for bass! Just like many bass designed baits (Ito Vision 110 for example) are equally effective for trout!
@@thehookuptackle_usa thank you for sharing all your knowledge and wisdom 🙏
In the 90s I use to use small repala jerkbait for trout.
I been fishing a yozuri pins minnow since I can remember. Don't sleep on mini jerkbaits.
Same I’ve got so many teeth marks in mine I almost need to repaint it
Those are $$
Bfs has been a trend in SoCal
GDawg Titan
I had to grab the dobyns sierra series bfs rod, been throwing it up in the sierra national forest and scoring some nice trout on it
In fall and spring bass and trout will hit almost any jerkbait 🎃
That alpha's air tw can handle pretty much anything to 1g with the right line and rod. I use that with 2lb sufix nano braid. And a modded Aldebaran bfs does about the same but the alpha's is a better caster
@Reel Iron Outdoors I use 6 lb pline flouroclear but I'm usually targeting 18 or up inch browns so I'm worried about them biting through leaders You would probably want to use something different as our objectives are different. I do not want to lose lures. I'd rather bring in a stick then break off
I use those inshore san Diego and inlets pinnsminnow good
Please add the Smith products to your lineup, specifically the D-contact, D-compact, BTK swimmer, and D-incite.
Coming...👍
Wow😍😍
Hey if that bait vibrates as fast as you say it does I might even be able to get my wife to go fishing with me 😉
Don't sleep on the small Megabass Dark Sleepers
Are you always at the store
I have a yo zuri pins minnow I like
GH48 Dive 😱🤯
It's dope!!
The eurotackle z spender kills
But does Jeff boat flip 9 lb Trout? 😄
Haha! Geoff wouldn't know what to do with a 9lb trout.
Does anyone troll these small jerk baits for planted rainbow trout?
I’m here to spend money and chew bubble gum. And I’m all out of bubble gum.
Hahaha! Who needs bubble gum! 😜
Can you get rid of the erratic, irritating piano wallpaper music, and quit stressing me out so I can finish listening to you? Try a soothing cello, but that frenzied piano shit has me so relieved to leave your video. Thanks for the trout hard bait breakdown--well done, I'd say.
