Dang I haven’t watched a fishing video in years. I don’t know if you remember me but during quarantine when you started fishing more often I was always watching every video and commenting lol. Man time changes I’m in college now super busy and never enough time to fish lol. Met you at SARL and DVL. Glad to see your living retirement to the fullest lol.
Right on, I remember. Youll get back to fishing soon enough. There were several periods in my life when I was too busy to fish but youll get it done and be back at the water in no time 🤘
Thank you very much for these videos. I landed my first fish on a Super Tube and I recently got my Okuma Celilo 9'6" L now I just need to master the technique.
First of all, love your videos! Suggested you to several of my friends because we’ve been struggling at pyramid. 😅Secondly, just purchased a ton of gear based on your recommendations so I’m super stoked to get out there once it arrives, thank you!🙏🏼
Great video. I was going to ask your opinion, a friend is visiting and he wants to go fishing, and was going to ask what would be a lake to try and get him on some bait, using power bait and maybe some jig’s. He has fished before and has his license. I live in highland so I’m close to big bear, Gregory, fisherman’s retreat, but I know fisherman’s retreat has some issues with their stocking last week and Isai Ly this week. We plan to go Saturday.
Seaspanker, I seen that you guys had a very successful trip recently. Estevan shared some photos. I plan on going out and would really appreciate a fishing report. I'm using super tube's im just hoping to get Info on what beaches are fishing good right now and if youre working the bottom. Thanks in advance.
No worries, but unfortunately we didn’t find a bunch of fish or figure out where they were on this trip. We grinded it out and got a few each day. The spots we fished were Popcorn, Spider, and Blockhouse with Popcorn producing the most fish overall. The best way to fish the super tubes is super slow on the bottom and work it up the dropoff. Most of the time the fish will be on the dropoffs and thats where youll get bit.
Awesome vid, getting so excited to go up there. do you have any tips on keeping your hands warm? I think that is my only remaining problem fishing in sub-freezing weather.
What Ive discovered trying to find the best way to keep my hands warm is that everyone is different and gloves that work great for one guy dont work at all for the next. That said here is a link to a video I just did featuring everything you need to know if your making your first trip to pyramid. At about 23:30 minutes i show the gloves that I wear up there and keep my hands warm enough to continue fishing. ruclips.net/video/Hy40KsRBhXw/видео.htmlsi=kGlEFW0CRe9Q0xqj

Hey, "Real Deihl"..quick question ,I've been seeing some guys fish for trout ,at Big Bear with a heavy reel and rod how is it possible,i thought it all had to be ultra light set ups ....i mean I just started a couple of years ago ,I was told everything ultra.thanks man
I know SARL just did a big stocking today for tomorrow but youll probably need to get in line tonight to get a spot tomorrow. New Years Day is a really popular day for fishing so wherever you go expect alot of people 🤘
@SeaSpankerOutdoors ah I see. The mega tube kit just arrived in today. Not sure which color to start off for this weekend. The rod is also arriving this week. Can't wait to use them both very soon.
I got a good question I use a stiff spinning rod for jigging its not as limber as your juicy beaver rods or anything like a phenix mirage, *but what tips do you have when feeling bites on a rod thats an ultralight like a dawai procyon rod, but not a jigging specific rod like a slow action rod-extra fast action with very absymal parabolic load on the tip*
The stiffness of the rod wont prevent you from feeling bites. The bites will transmit directly through the line as long as you have low stretch line like braid or fluoro. The stiffness of the rod may just give you a tougher time giving a good jig presentation. That said, you can definitely work mini jigs with a very stiff rod and still catch fish, its just not the ideal rod for it.
@SeaSpankerOutdoors You're absolutely right. I've been mini jig fishing for 8 years now, and it's funny-I've always used stiff rods throughout those years. I don't target any particular species besides trout, so I'm so used to stiff rods that if you handed me yours, I'd probably think it's too flexible or flimsy, while you'd say mine is too stiff. I'm really enjoying this conversation! I know I kind of tested your theory, but you're 100% correct. Stiff rods, unlike more flexible, jig-specific rods, require more patience. When jigging with a stiff rod, you bring the jig up rather than keeping it in the same spot with a slow, waving action. The adjustment comes from lowering the rod instead of high-sticking it, which works better with parabolic rods. Jig-specific rods are much more comfortable since they allow for subtle arm movements to control the jig, rather than the big wrist motions needed with stiff rods. This also reduces strain on the arm over a full day of fishing. You're spot on about line watching being critical. With parabolic rods, you can feel the bend or load like an arch, which helps with hooksets. But with a stiffer rod, it doesn't transition smoothly to a load on a bite. It takes a hard hit from a fish to load it properly, so small nibbles can be really hard to detect. That’s why I focus on jigging super slowly and watching the line closely with these rods. With a jig-specific rod, you can fish as fast as you want without the jig rising too quickly in the water column, and there's much less strain on your arm.
Man I thought that the trout at my local in town lake were big. Some Rainbow's over 10 pounds. Trolling my fly runs of 200 yard's keeps me intereted. Wish I was there as Cutthroat Trout are my favorite fish. I just keep catching those damn Rainbow's. A happy problem. Anyways awesome video.
Yeah you definitely need to make the trip when you can. They are the largest cutthroat on planet earth and each season the average fish size seems to go up 3-5lbs
I really like the Okuma Celilo 9’6” CE-S-9621 and the CE-S-9622. The 9621 is a light weight rod and the 9622 is a medium weight rod. Both work well for throwing super tubes, spoons, etc. just depends if you like fishing lighter more moderate action rod or a medium more fast action rod. I believe the run about $70-80

Outstanding! Its just a matter of time now that addiction has got you haha.
Awesome video rob...estivon got that toad nice!!! Hoping we will be out fishing at that age so cool..tight lines bud..
Right?

I appreciate that 🙏, hopefully the new gear will get you slaying! Just locate those drop offs and work the baits as slow as you can you’ll get bit 🤘
That awesome
🙏

Id say Big Bear is a good bet. Ive been hearing the bite has been good up there especially on bait and wait
@ thank you

Oooooh! Rooob ! You missed my question 2 days ago 😊.whats the brand name for the storage case you have for the spoons ? Thank you ,"Real Deihl "

I have a 10’6 medium rod is that too long for Pyramid Lake ? Thanks for your videos
No, not at all. It is a bit longer than what I normally use but it will absolutely work out there 🤘
Hello this is a little random but do you have any recommendations to where i should go fishing on New Year's Day
for souls know Jesus
I know SARL just did a big stocking today for tomorrow but youll probably need to get in line tonight to get a spot tomorrow. New Years Day is a really popular day for fishing so wherever you go expect alot of people 🤘
Rob, the "real Deihl," hey bud , what's the brand for the case you have for the spoons, please?
Great video! What was your speed trolling?
Thanks 🎣
I was doing 1.5 MPH and using a mechanical diver set to 20’ down
First ☝️
Second!!
🤣
Will these super tubes work at Santa Ana or any of these smaller lakes ??
Its definitely worth a shot. I have caught trout as small as 1lb on those things
For dropshot rig, do you prefer double or single?
At Pyramid I definitely prefer the single. Those fish tend to roll alot and would probably destroy a double dropshot
@SeaSpankerOutdoors ah I see. The mega tube kit just arrived in today. Not sure which color to start off for this weekend. The rod is also arriving this week. Can't wait to use them both very soon.

For Eastern Sierra waters, do you use the Shimano Vanguish SSSPG reel?
Yes, the 1000 SSSPG
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors Thanks. I really like the shallow spool. Most reels require way too much line. The 4.9 ounce weight is incredible.

This trip it seemed the wind was a non factor. It was awesome to see the 85 y.o. out there.
It was definitely interesting as typically when its real calm the fish dont wanna play 🤷🏼♂️
Just got a 2500 Vanford to prepare for my trip to pyramid. Still need to get a rod

Hello I try to purchase some fishing line but your discount coupons dont work
Very sorry but the discount code only applies to the baits and weights. Braid/line, katana rods, and apparel are not covered by my discount code
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors thank you for the imformation
