    I live in Illinois where you can grow anything. Tobacco is a beautiful plant that draws humming birds to the flowers. If you cut the mature plant off a little above ground level by August 1st, you'll get a second growth from the same stalk which turns into a half size plant. Also, if your plants are mature by August 1st, you can cut them and hang them upside down on the south side of a shed or garage, in the sun, and within a few weeks the tobacco will be fully cured and ready to smoke. Again, this is Illinois where God blessed agriculture. We get 39 inches of rain and about 39 inches of snow, and most of our crops are grown with NO irrigation water. It's a shame so much of this farmland is giving way to housing, but add this tragedy to so many other things that are upside down.

      Well, I would say move to Alabama but our government and schools suck, and the weather while great of farming, can kill a human if you don't watch it during summer or winter. LoL. But we used to be known as the brown rose of the south for a reason, tobacco grows extremely well here

    If you're going for yield, cut off the flower on the top at the bottom, and the sand lugs on the bottom of the plant. This is because you need to concentrate the energy of the plant on the primary leaves.

    Great video! I'm in Northern California, and starting as you did. I've got the plants about 2 feet tall in the garden now. Building an enclosed area in the garage for the curing and a box for fermentation soon. Looking forward to how the project turns out. Enjoy your pipe tobacco! Cheers!

    Great video! A tip I learned from another channel about bunching leaves for curing is to use multi coloured elastics as they will allow you to distinguish between varieties while maintaining a grip on the leaves regardless of the state of drying.

    To prevent root damage a little trick that I learned is to build dirt up around the cell....remove the cell....it leaves a perfect shaped hole in the pot. Then remove the plant and place it in the perfectly shaped hole.

    you may want to invest into a temperature controlled timer or controller for a fermenter. This is my first idea i saw when using a bulb. Pretty hard to find the right wattage for the right container.

  • @Jellooze

    I think the expiration day for cigarettes are the same for like salt. Its the material that is holding it together aka the paper wrapper that expires. (for salt its the plastic container)
    Also, mold generally penetrate more into stuff then it looks, its more okey with dense cheeses but for bread its always recommended to throw the whole thing away if there is mold on it. I recon tobaccco leafs are somewhere in between

    Save time and money on power .. put the tobacco in a zip lock bag .. , mist with water lightly , put it on the dash board of your car ( in the sun ).. open up the bag each day to air out (overnight ).. rinse and repeat until it smells like chocolate and then you know it done . It should take about 7 days max🤗 .. warning .. it will stink your car out .. glass house would be better 😋

    The reason cigarettes may have an expiration date is because the fermentation is done using a bevy of chemicals. Perhaps cigarettes taste more and more like these chemicals as they age, or perhaps the chemicals cause the tobacco to decay faster than regularly fermented tobacco.

    • @MycketTuff
      @MycketTuff 8 лет назад +3

      Germination is a natural process that requires only water. They have stored energy that will last them for a while. Micro greens for instance is initially grown in shade to make the seedlings longer. All seeds have a set time they can survive without light while looking for the surface.
      Heat has some effect too.

    • @jake-rg3fd
      @jake-rg3fd 5 лет назад +1

      @Graham Franklin lots of seeds, for example poppies, only germinate after being reexposed to light. It's pretty common in weeds since they usually grow best in disturbed soil. In tobacco it varies by strain I believe

You are very wordy and speak quite slowly with a lot of long pauses. Your content is awesome and I loved the information... But rarely do I have this much time to watch a video.
